Kotaku introduces the Amazon Playstation Network Store

Since we've been able to use Paypal to add funds to your SEN account, I've just been doing that instead of buying US PSN cards from eBay.

I assume everyone knows you can do that?

It lets me buy US PSN cards with my Aussie credit card. I just had to set up a new Paypal account and set its region to the US and use a fake US address. It it perfectly happy to let you add a foreign credit card to a US Paypal account.

I can't use my spanish credit card with a US address in my US PSN account but i can use the same credit card with a fake US address on Amazon.com.
This worked for me as well. I even made a new Amazon account to avoid messing my old one in any way.

$50 for $49.99 instead of the usual $53.99 from eBay or other sites.

Well, if we don't get a confirmation, I might end up taking one for the team and buying sly cooper @ that $20 impulse price. I guess I could always sell it to a US gaffer if I can't redeem it.
I will assume that PS4 will be the same as PS3 with regards to US/CAN regions.

That would be great !

I really hope this is only the beginning.

I really hope Sony opens this up for every online retailer willing to sell PlayStation games. I hope Sony let's indies sell PSN keys on their own websites like Valve does. I hope Sony even allows you to access these other PlayStation Stores right on the PS4 and Vita. Sony already has apps on the PS3 that essentially compete with PSN's own video store.

The ultimate affect of this is that it increases the exposure of PSN itself. I still see people who own 360's and are pretty much unaware of the entire storefront of games available to them on the console. Sony needs to make PSN as visible as possible outside their own hardware. Microsoft needs to do the same shit.

Let's be real here.

Nintendo already stated its intention to do this. We just haven't seen them actually do it. They used to actually let Amazon and other online retailers sell codes for Virtual Console games. I think you can even still buy VC games like SMB3 on Amazon and GameStop. And I remember seeing codes for 3DS eShop games at GameStop. Nintendo is certainly up for this kind of strategy.

So.... can I use a portuguese credit card on amazon.com to buy a game and then use it on a EU PSN account, or do I have to create a U.S account?

If I can start buying games from Amazon.com, then holy moly.

This sounds cool. Wish Nintendo would do this (lol). Their game prices are stupid. I really want to go digital on 3DS after seeing the light when I downloaded Animal Crossing and AA but I'm not paying $40 for Starfox 64.

I said it at the PS4 premiere event and I'll say it again.

Sony is NOT fucking around this gen.

Megaton!
Oh and I just got an email saying I could use PayPal to add funds to it, maybe I can use that to

Guys I don't know if this has been posted.
Bad news:
Good question. My understanding is that we should be the same price as PSN, both during and off of promotions:).
Cheers,
Tony

from the Amazon DD sales thread on CAG

EDIT: I'll make a thread if you think it's worth one.

So wait, is this for games to be shipped to a customer or for digital downloads only? Because if for both, I may just wet my pantaloons.

The codes are for the US psn store. You must redeem them with a US account, but you should be able to then log in to your EU account on the same system and play it.

This is a step in the right direction.

I like seeing various industries broaden and merge.

I've heard talk about Sony wanting to make their games available on more platforms, on your PC, or mobile device, or so forth.

These directions with making apps for Android and this with Amazon seems to be a movement in that sort of direction. I don't think they want to be as limited as they currently are with software and hardware. Including distribution.

Amazon has a very broad appeal and is someone good for Sony to work with.

1 more question, does the address has to be a legit address? I remember for my us psn I used something stupid like 00 Fake Street
Will that work for Amazon?

FYI guys; I purchased digital Assassin's Creed IV from Amazon ($53 instead of $60), redeemed the code and it let me do the Digital Upgrade without issue (other than a 5 minute delay before it let me select the upgrade option though). Pretty nice to get a PS3 and PS4 digital copy for just $3 extra. Also get $5 credit on my next digital purchase on top of that. Win/win.

Really hope this Amazon digital thing catches on. Pleased with the results so far.

If this works from the UK, then I don't see why I would ever use the UK PSN for purchases. The savings are massive, not to mention the slightly earlier release dates.

UK PSN = £60

UK Retail = £50

US Amazon = £40

It seems too good to be true.

This has been probably asked and answered many times but,

If I buy digital version of lets say Killzone and I share with my brother we can both play online at the same time on our respective machines?

if it's ps3 killzone, you should be able to do that

if it's ps4 killzone, well, technically you can, but it's a bit more complicated to set up and can be annoyance for most people.

edit: check the ps4 gamesharing thread for more info,

But is it possible to download the DLC's when they come out ?
If you are playing a US version of a game, you have to download the US DLC for that game. But you can play that game with any account.

To all European GAFFERS, I can confirm that this works. Yesterday I bought a 10$ psn card with an European credit card, received the code instantly and redeemed it in my US psn account. Bought a game in the US store, am now playing it in my Euro account.

I know, if it really will work as easily as logging into US account (downloading?) and them logging back into EU account to play i will be a happy boy. Especially as i want to go mostly digital for remote play reasons.

Thats perfect, Thanks!

I'm pretty much set on going digital only from the UK via. this route for all my PS4 games. £37.30 vs £59.99 is just too much of a saving for the minor side-effect of having games tied to a sub-account.

Does anyone know whether this effects DLC and season passes etc. though, as I'm likely going to get BF4 Premium?

I presume downloading the premium content won't be an issue as I can just download on my US account but play on my UK account like the main game itself. However, will my UK PSN ID also become a 'premium' player in-game and get premium benefits such as server priority, double-XP bonuses etc? Or is that all tied to only the PSN ID on which BF4 Premium was purchased?

Some questions:

1) Could I turn my EU (Spain) account into a USA account?, in order to download the games with my main account

2) I have an USA and EU accounts, if I would download/buy a game with the USA account, would I have any problems playing it with my EU account?

3) Do the NTSC (USA) games get auto-patch when you play them in an european account?

Thanks!

To possibly answer my own question, this post seems to confirm that my UK PSN ID will also become a premium player even if I purchase it on my US account. Unless they change something for BF4/PS4 anyway.

So a friend of mine purchased the BF3 premier from the psn store, He downloaded it and then decided to game share it with me, I signed in onto his account from my console, Downloaded the premium and the CQ map pack and then launched BF3, Everything went just fine, It said that im a premium user and i unlocked a couple of things that came with the CQ DLC

One question I would have is how patching and autopatching with games bought like that. Would games from other regions bought on a non primary account get autopatched? Would you need plus in multiple regions for that?

Ok so I am from Britain and I used my Amazon UK id purchase stuff off the American Amazon PS store (absolute stupidity that !) yesterday and I used the address of the hotel I usually stay at whenever I go to LA. I managed to buy 3 PSN $50 cards and COD Ghosts, but the 5th order I made was put on hold for verification and now they are asking me to fax them my statement with my address on it. They've also put my account on hold and I don't know what I am supposed to do now considering this is my main amazon account that I use with my kindle and I've also bought Amazon Prime for it.

What are my options guys? Should I send them a mail ?

So there don't appear to be any digital codes for battlefield or AC4. Have they just run out of codes or did they never sell them?

That happened to me once when I was sending gift card to one of my friend. They asked for fax, bank statement with address on it to verify that the person making transaction is the actual owner of the account. I don't live in US but Saudi Arabia. My CC was also issued by local bank. So I think you are fine If you give what they have asked. Mailing them the required document will be rejected. So you have to fax them.

I found this by accident when I searched for PSN cards on amazon. I was planning to buy $60 of psn credit and buy killzone via the psn store. Then I saw a digital download version right there on amazon!

For Australian GAF members - fear not. As stated earlier in the thread, you can simply go into your payment options and enter any USA address while still paying with your Australian credit/debit card.

Even nicer is the $5 credit towards my next digital purchase. I'm trying to choose which game to get.. AC or the Lego Marvel one?
