"Like a one man human centipede"

I'm wondering how many people actually have the console now. There's what, 4 people with this problem? It sounds like the 1.5 update may be the cause of this.
Alot of people do got to check other topics and other streams.

They are not posting much of course!

I hope all the people with problems have done these steps correctly just to be absolutely sure.

I'm not saying this situation is anyone's fault, but isn't there a quote that say's tech failure is usually a result of user error?

I would love for people to actually try ALL the possible methods instead of just jumping to a conclusion.

That is sorta scary. I mean what if power outage or a pet/kid knocks the cord out or something

it's just a precaution. it says that on all electronics. power-outages / power surges / etc happen all the time. if the hardware is faulty it'll cause issues. but chances are it won't fuck up functioning hardware. it's just for safety. but if you're terrified... better buy an apc and have your psxo plugged in so when an outage happens you have those three minutes to power off the console properly.

This I why to try to wait at least 6 months until buying a console or handheld that just released. I got one of the early fat PS2s that had the disc read error thing and that sort of soured me out on being a very early adopter for another console ever again. Good times now that I'm thinking about it (not really).

I don't think it's the cause. This guy was updating DCOU when it happened.

Other people are streaming with the update just fine aren't they?

Aw hell, who knows. I'm going to hold off just in case. I don't need blu-ray or anything like that.
Can't get online without the update either. So I hope you don't need online either.

FALSE. He was downloading the update AND THE SYSTEM BECAME UNRESPONSIVE AND WOULDN'T SHUT DOWN.

This is why he unplugged it. He had no choice.

Did he hold the power switch for more than 7 seconds or just go straight to unplugging from the back?

- He was downloading DCUO and it became unresponsive so he unplugged the PS4.

- Tried troubleshooting it himself by holding the button down for 7 seconds to safe mode (he tried this various times though he messes up a lot while holding it down. He even counted to 10 once)

- People trolled him and he even tried using an external HDD (I'm not sure if PS4 even uses external).

- He called customer support ON STREAM and told them his ADDRESS, barcode, and full name. Just in case you missed it, he gave out his ADDRESS, full name, and barcode for the system.

- Sony's sending him a box to send it back now.

- Currently, he's just getting trolled by the comment section. Also by his friends. I think he even cried a little because people were calling him an idiot for holding the button wrong a few times.

- Now he's just troubleshooting it himself again, while making a few comments about support and the PS4 being bad.

Here's the summary.

Why did he unplug the system during download/install? That's a big no no obviously

He even said his friend unplugged the PS4 while downloading the DCUO update.

Ya exactly. Software issues are waaaay less scary than hardware issues. They can be patched away and corrected. If a Ps4 is bricked because of software, it is also probably way cheaper for SOny to fix.

I got on this train at the yard. I was watching his stream entirely by chance at around 70 or so viewers an hour ago. I was just searching for PS4 streams on the Twitch app. Peaked at 4,600! What a journey.

Have you guys read Slaughterhouse-Five? I'm assuming you have since most of you can read. Most.

You know when Billy Pilgrim is on exhibit for the Tralfamadorians? Like they're watching every little move he makes with his hot lady friend Montana Wildhack?

That's what this is. We really should be ashamed of this.

Excellent. That's exactly what it's like.

God dam. Poor guy.

I hope he gets this sorted soon.

Nope, not everyone likes the same kind of books... even if it is highly rated!

I would never do that. I haven't seen what the firmware update process is like on the PS4, but I absolutely wouldn't reboot or shutdown something I'm updating unless absolutely necessary. Sometimes it may look like it's hung but it still might be doing what it should be doing. I remember updating the firmware on an optical drive I owned once and I was staring at a blinking command prompt for five minutes.

How long did this guy wait?

I would have let it sit for at least 2 hours before fucking unplugging during an update. Dumbass move.

My vita used to hang when i tried to download something from the store and would j ust get stuck loading and I would be unable to do anything. I left it on for hours and still nothing. I eventually manually hard shut it down. Plus he was downloading/updating a game not the firmware.
