You have to change your title yourself in the profile section in settings.

Ah! Didn't realise that, thanks. Still, most of the people I'm playing against are idiots. I don't know why you'd pick a specialist subject you don't know anything about. People are getting incredibly basic facts about the characters wrong.

I did a blind purchase of Oceanhorn this morning. I hope to give it a good try tonight after work if I can. How are you guys liking it?

Well I'm most surprised about winning most of my Spelling matches vs native English speakers while I'm not haha.

Anyway, love the game.

Well, I just turned it on and played around on the first island for 15 minutes:

-Music is wonderful
-Graphics seem really great so far. My friends at work who don't play phone games were jaw-dropped when I showed them
-Controls seem to be pretty good so far. Just touch anywhere and push to start moving. a big action button in the bottom right corner for interacting/picking things up etc

I've barely scratched the surface of the game but so far, I'm lovin' it (tm)

I also picked up:
Lone Wolf
King's League
Deemo
Death Tower

in last night's releases and will post some on them once I've had a chance to play them a bit.

Man, I think I'm getting sucked into Puzzle & Dragons. I blame the music, it's too good. I've even started thinking I should look up some strategies and figure out how to construct a better team and things.

My simplest advice is to not waste your stones on stamina refills and only do gacha pulls (the little gold dragon) when there are Godfest events.

I'm still rocking the first iPad and feel like it might be time to upgrade. I really want the new iPad Mini for its size, but the Air looks good too. Torn.

It depends on how you plan on using it the most, if you'll bring it outside or only using it at home, if you'll use it for watching movies or gaming the most... and so on.
I too went from the OG iPad (briefly had iPad 2, sob that's for another story) to the Mini last year. And now I cold never imagine myself going back to any other form factor. Considering there's not even the huge disparity in performance that there was last year between the Mini and iPad4, there's no contest in my book.
Unless the bigger screen is a big plus for you, then of course it's the other way around.
It's cool tat this year all you have to base your decision on is just the form factor and screen's estate.

Oceanhorn is....surprisingly good? I've only put 40 minutes into it so far, but it seems like a competent little adventure game. The controls are actually quite well done. Nothing too complicated has been asked yet control wise, but just moving around has the kind of tightness you expect more from an analog stick. The graphics look really nice on the iPad Air, super clean and colorful and runs at 60fps. The world and characters could use a bit more personality, but it doesn't feel as cheap and generic as I was expecting. The music is really good so far, which helps in injecting more life into the world.

Ah, cheers. So far I've been using the stones to expand my box (oo-er) and then throwing some at the little gold dragon at random. I'll keep an eye out for the godfests. I don't really mind taking the game slowly so I haven't bothered with stamina refills.

Is there anything that makes 'evo material' drops more likely? I've got one team member that I really want to evolve, but I just can't seem to find the right material.

I recommend bookmarking this site (http://www.puzzledragonx.com/) and using it as a reference. It has all the information you would want from the game in regards to where to find evo material and what you need to evolve certain characters.

It's worth pointing out the Air actually has a performance advantage over the Mini (having a slightly more powerful CPU driving the same number of pixels), however slight. And the Air is a huge change from the big iPads of olde; the Air is far more portable and it caught me off guard how light it is. I think it closed the gap between it and the mini in terms of portability to the point that I wouldn't even consider the mini at all right now.

A lot of people have covered this already, but as a guy who has owned both sizes: If you remotely even think you'll miss the larger screen, the Air is probably your best bet.

Then again, with the resale value of iPads still being relatively decent, I wouldn't discourage anyone from buying a Mini and finding out for themselves. The form factor is great, and while it's not perfect for everything, the smaller size is really, really nice in some use case scenarios.

Ah, cheers chap!

That's done the trick. Although I feel a bit foolish at the revelation that the fire spirit I seek drops in the cryptically named 'Dungeon of Fire'.

idk, the difference in weight between Air and mini is still substantial. having both in hand at an apple store is quite apparent (which people should do before deciding).

btw: have ya checked out Deemo?

Wow, Quizup is so addictive - regardless of whether the people I'm playing against are real or not. Shame there doesn't seem to be a native iPad app - looks a bit crap stretched up.

Also just started Device 6 - really really interesting and atmospheric. Just got off the first level.

Although I'm in love with my Air, I'll probably be selling it if next years model has 2GB of RAM and no gap between the glass and screen.

Is eBay the best route in the UK or is there an official Apple way of trading in?

That's awesome, see, Dana isn't so beta after all, he is right that the sport is growing, so fast in fact that even random people know everything there is to know about the history of the sport.

Right?

As for the non human players... I don't know. They must be really good at emulating this so.

Trust me, there are very few enthusiasts that know that sport the way that almost every single player in that category does. It's not very convincing, and outside of the range of blind luck.

Now if I go to Rap & Hip Hop, there are plenty of teenagers that don't know RZA is in Wu-Tang Clan and Young MC tells you to not just stand there and bust a move. This I can believe.

I think if they don't have anyone to match you up with, they give you a default "player" to play against. This probably isn't a problem if you're answering questions about Nintendo games, etc.

Tilt to Live 2 keeps crashing, anyone else getting that? seems like the toucharcade forums and the reviews say the same thing. (using iphone 4s)

I popped my head in there, but those dudes are in deep. I barely understand what most of them are talking about. That said, the OP is very helpful indeed. Cheers!

Oh they are good peeps in there and will help a lot! I used to play a ton but it became too much work for me.

You don't need to spend money on gems. They will come. Seems they always have events with a free gem per day. I have like 50 in my account right now.

Also spending gems on space is WAY more important than a random roll!

I now have 24 levels (including the imperial levels) in Tiny Death Star. I'm very disappointed at how rare Imperial Bux are in this.. it's almost criminal, especially given the cost of upgrades in this version. It's also quite difficult to get people to move in now as well. You might be multiple levels beyond an apartment before it's even full even with frequent elevator usage. Seeming removal of the Bux tipping system for elevator rides is also quite frustrating.

QuizUp's Tweeter says you can play against your Game Center friends by searching for their QuizUp user name in the Friends section and then adding them to your Quiz Up friends list. Thought I'd let you guys know, because it's not at all obvious.

The bux tipping is still in there, just has a very low percentage chance.
I myself have all floors now, sans most imperial and a couple residential ones. Bux were more frequent during the soft launch period so I managed to stock up quite a bit which has now helped me finish off the levels.

Why are people doubting that QuizUp opponents are real? I just became friends with a girl I was playing Nintendo quizzes, and we've been talking a bit about Zelda games haha.

I was going to speculate that in this thread but kept forgetting. I played a Quiz game recently (Wits and Wagers) that behaved the same way.

The problem is that you have psychos that play the game religiously and memorize all the questions. Then they answer correctly all the time which becomes part of their permenant record. Probably wouldn't be a problem if there were a massive database of questions to wade through, but most of these games only have a few hundred.

In my case, it's because I doubt that people choosing a particular niche category (Futurama) would be have so little knowledge of the show that they wouldn't know that Fry is the one that got frozen. I mean, why are they choosing the category if they know nothing about it? It just seems like the answers are getting picked randomly, so I end up winning when the opponent gets maybe 1 question right.

Edit: I just had two questions in the same game asking "Who is Hermes Conrad's son". First time round, the guy chooses Fry. (The answer's Dwight). Second time around they choose Bud despite the game telling them the answer earlier in the game. What the hell, people.

I added my two cents to that Tweeter thread. I guess you could attribute this to "quiz psychos", but this person was a level one player:

So I guess you'd have to believe they take a "previous player recording" and do not use that players name, but a generic one instead. Seems like a bit of a stretch, especially with the cadence in which they answer and how frequently they answer obscure trivia correctly. Not sure I'm buying it.

Aww that's a shame. I started a couple days after release and they are so, so rare. Very disappointing -- back up to 12 now since I spent 25 on the first elevator upgrade.

This is one of the games I recently downloaded, but I was concerned it revolved around IAP's. This sounds like it does kinda? I am wondering if I should dump it, since my backlog is huge (60+ gig worth of games)

I am having no issues with it, you can just rock your thumb left / right and it still works, the developer said as much on TA forums and when I tried it it worked.

Tried doing this, but would still prefer the option of having a static digital left right dpad a la Super Meat Boy.

Also, has anyone gotten the community levels part of Stealth Inc. working yet?

That's funny. I just redownloaded the game recently after not playing it since a couple months after the English release. What starting monster did you get?

Oceanhorn is pretty amazing. So smooth, so silky. So full-fledged. So charming.

So utterly, 100 percent not-even-unashamed-of-it a straight 1:1 Xerox of Wind Waker. I mean, they didn't even try to disguise it.

Tiny Death Star? Revolves around IAPs? Get outta here!

Work on your backlog

The dev said on TA that the community levels are in a patch that's been sent for approval.

Hopefully be there soon, 1900 and climbing, installs them in one go (about an extra 50mb he said).

Then more will be added as they come out, no extra cost.

Yep, that's why I said that there's no a *huge* power gave between the two anymore: last year it was massive with the Mini being 2gen behind the flagship iPad, now it's just a slight difference in how the CPU is clocked.

As for the form factor, well I can't agree there: I mean, of course the Air is a big improvement on iPad4 being so light and all, although I wish the bezel was even smaller just like on the Mini, but there's still no comparison between the two in that area... it's still so much bigger, but you'd probably only notice that after a few days/weeks as a Mini owner. I do think that both are perfectly thought out on their respective "fields".
