Super Smash Bros Wii U and 3DS Thread 3: Ridley's Believe It or Not!

I haven't even played Xenoblade but I wouldn't mid a rep from that and it needs some promotional boosting for X too, so it only makes sense.

Otherwise I'd personally love to see what Dillon could do and I also favour Takamaru. Kind of 50/50 with Little Mac, I don't like the way he looks but it all depends on playstyle then aesthetic.

Reason 3: You don't but I'm sure many people will be.

Solution: add Isaac from Golden Sun, and Riki from Xenoblade.

I'd actually like an Endless Ocean stage, with the peaceful music in the background.

I do think Little Mac has a chance after the release of the Wii game.
 
So what Waifu Emblem: Awakening character does everyone want to see? It could be anyone regardless of popularity. Just someone you personally want to have in. Beyond Lucinia of course

Morgan is one of my favorites and has IMO some of the best lines. It also could be viable as an "avatar" character replacement.
 
If we do get a Golden Sun stage, I don't care what it is. My only request is that the music stays faithful to the originals and doesn't become over-synth-sampled shit as with the medley in Brawl. A Vangelis-styled chill mix of Jupiter Lighthouse's theme would be boss.

You know, any one of the four lighthouse peaks (or a medley, somehow?) would make for an awesome stage. Maybe even beef up some attacks when the beacons get lit or send out a Smash Ball from the core when it happens.

You just didn't prepare yourself for Ike and the potentially awesome others. When they're announced they will be your friends and you will fight for them
in as team match but make sure you pick blue considering this is FE

Ike's return would be awesome, but the possibility of Chrom or any other sword wielding Fire Embler doesn't excite me.


Tharja is the only popular Awakening character that would interest me. I would rather Sakurai go to another game in the series for another rep, but I doubt that will happen, and the list of realistic candidates is yawn educing.

Hey I said popularity doesn't matter. I think we could also expand it to the rest of the series too. Hector would easily be my choice from outside FE:A

We've already got Marth, the graceful "balanced" swordsman. Ike covers the other end of the spectrum as a heavy, slow, powerful swordsman. There really doesn't need to be a third swordsman from a relatively minor series, and I don't see any of the non-sword Fire Emblem characters as being important enough to add.

I know Fire Emblem has a big online fan base and I don't expect this to be a popular opinion, but objectively, Fire Emblem is sufficiently represented with just Marth and Ike -- old vs. new, light vs. heavy. They're also the only Fire Emblem protagonists to star in two different games on two different consoles.

Them or Robin would be cool. I think a new FE rep could really benefit from using magic and weapons like axes which the lords so far haven't really shown off.

I agree with this. Having more than two FE characters is just too many. I'd maybe accept a 3rd if one of them uses a lance weapon, but in almost every encounter I've had with people in real life they had no idea who Marth/Roy/Ike were and don't know what Fire Emblem is.

Having three characters that the vast majority of people are unfamiliar with weakens the roster in my eyes. I think what's great about Smash Bros roster is that every character is so unique and iconic, not just that they throw in as many characters as possible. I'm sure anyone who was disappointed in the similarities between Fox/Falco/Wolf in Brawl can understand where I'm coming from.

The Ice Climbers and Pit were added because they were "retro". Golden Sun characters don't have that. It is pretty much an irrelevant and dead franchise, and it's as likely to get characters in SSB as Sin and Punishment.

What makes you say that? I always thought if they were not shown at E3 they'd be shown down the line eventually.

I'm kind of curious, Ryce--you've made a lot of predictions against characters, but I don't think I've seen you do the opposite. You do seem down on a lot of potential characters, so I'm wondering, what newcomers do you think have any chance of being in?

It's been said before but an Ice Climbers-like Chrom and Lucina duo would be a great way to inject FEA reps into the game (and offer a fresh new take on sword characters yo) and it'd make sense given FEA's pairing mechanic

Well, not the rumor itself, but the remaining half of it. There are lots of reasons why a leak might not be completely accurate. One or two of those characters might coincidentally be playable, but all three of them won't be. I'll place an avatar bet on that.

I was too caught up in the initial excitement of the leak, but after having had time to really think about it, I'm leaning towards it being false.
 
The game itself is a rumor. Sakurai is actually making Kid Icarus X Kirby.

I really couldn’t say, honestly. We’re past the point of there being any shoo-ins.

I’m not expecting most of the following characters, but at the same time I wouldn’t be shocked to see any of them included:

Toad/Bowser Jr./Rosalina/Paper Mario
Dixie Kong
Toon Zelda/Tetra
Ridley
Mewtwo
Zoroark
Chrom
Palutena
Takamaru (and pretty much any other retro first-party character)
Pac-Man

Anyone not on that list would come as a genuine surprise to me, including commonly discussed characters like Mii, Little Mac, Waluigi, Shulk, Isaac, and so on.

That is what confused me because you were pro-leak even few weeks or maybe a month later after the initial excitement of leak and you posted that you already spoke to the guy about it and saw the source itself right? And you were confident enough with the source.

I really love this idea. It'd rep the game perfectly and not just be another Falchion user.
