Retailer is going to get back on me what bundles will be available... I will opt for the extra DS4+Camera+KZ pack when offered (I am #1 on the list so that should be possible if they get any)

Not sure yet what other titles I will get.

And will of course have to get PSN Plus..

My ex colleauge got scared due all this bad news and he is offering me his preorder for 15% less than retail.
I wasnt planning on going next gen until next year but this is tempting.
Maybe i should wait few more days to see how things go.... Dont know what to do...so far i was always lucky with new hardware (except first xbox360 which rrod-ed after 9 months)

Would the PAL models be any different from the US models, such as slightly different internals and manufacturing plant?

They will be technically a different model, but its too early to say if they are being made elsewhere. I bloody hope so.


Edit: The NSTC model is CUH-1001A. Following the same naming conventions as the PS3 and Vita, the PAL model will be either CUH-1001(B/C/D) or CUH-1001(2/3/4)A.

Considering there is only 14 days in between launches, there is a good chance the PAL consoles were made elsewhere.

After giving it some more thought, id say its very likely the PAL consoles were made in another plant. Simply of because the speed these consoles would of needed to be churned out, it would make sense to have one plant dealing with identical consoles and packaging. As the european consoles will need different power bricks and plugs, cords, manuals and packagings, we should be safe.

That said the PS4 clearly still has some OS issues as well as models overheating and with bad disk drives. You could still end up with a lemon regardless.

Not sure what to do here. PS4 launches in between two of my favourite series (Zelda and Gran Turismo). So if I do get a PS4 I'll be too broke to get those. Not really dying to play any of the launch games either and reports of faulty hardware are concerning.

I just want dat shiny newness.

Apparently it is the same everywhere, all Game stores won't have any stock for walk in customers without pre orders. But then again I was told this by the same staff member who said changing the hard drive won't allow me to trade me PS3 in.

I have no interest in any of the launch games GAF, but I've got myself all caught up in the launch hype and have ordered the Killzone Gamer Packof Amazon.
I won't get it at launch but will get it a couple of weeks after but I'm now thinking of hitting the shops on launch and seeing if I can find one. Every time I think I'm out.....they pull me back in

I'd ring round a few and see a couple of days before launch, you never know. If it's anything like my local store talking to the staff is pretty pointless, try and talk to a manager.

That's really nice! My PS4 is currently at a DHL hub in Germany so I'll most likely get it on Monday as well. Got free shipping for unknown reasons so I also got it cheaper even with the tax and custom fees. 375 € is the total price for me.

Nope. The early PS3 models had a region specfic power supply.

That said, the Slim and Superslim were universal, so who knows.

Edit: My bad. In the Ifixit teardown it says it is universal. So much for that theory. Back to worrying.

I preordered the PS4 standalone system for full price, but amazon gave me 50 Euros off DriveClub so i preordered this for 20 Euros. The preorder for DriveClub is also a 50% discount on 1 year PS+. I also got in on the amazon buy 2 get 3 deal. So i picked up Killzone, BF4 and COD. But just decidet that COD is to shity and 3 shooters are to mouch. So returned COD and ordered ASS Creed. So no PS4 Camera for me … because i never used the PS Eye on my PS3.

I've been really bi-polar about the PS4. I am *really* hyped about it because of the games I have experienced on the PS3 and I want more. But I also experienced two RRoDs last gen and have been really worried about that and to see those worries coming true (kind of)... it's first world problems personified but it's still a massive downer.

My hope is Sony makes official statements long before the PAL release, that they sort out the mandatory update if that's what is causing some of the problems and... I dunno, do *something* to get me to not worry! Good luck with that, Sony.

Just preordered, ha. Amazon found some extra bundle stock yesterday, I guess. There was a Killzone pack, a Killzone megapack (with two controllers and the camera), and a Knack pack. I got the normal Killzone bundle and I'll probably get FIFA even though I have it on 360 since it's a game I know I'll definitely play. Also NFS since that looks awesome. Those, plus Resogun and whatever else crops up on PS+, should keep me going for a while. I hope the games do become a bit cheaper though.

Assuming it arrives on time I'll be getting online between the 15th of December (my birthday) and the 25th of December (Jesus's birthday), PSN ID is GolazoDan.

Pre-Ordered mine at GAME a while ago (well, not GAME per say. Portugal has "New GAME" now, I don't think it's affiliated).

story time:
Yesterday went back to the store and asked a bunch of questions.

He said they'll have slightly more PS4's than pre-orders. So if I get a defective one I can trade it in (?) on the same day.

I asked if BF4 pre-orders came with the bonus for PS4, he wasn't sure but he gave me the code anyway (last one too, that was nice). I went to the website and there is a PS4 option, seems like the map-pack code is universal. Neat.

Then I talked about Destiny's beta participation, he had no idea about it but I pre-ordered anyway just in case (1€ isn't much to be safe). He also asked if Destiny was a PS exclusive. I told him that it'll get extra content and beta will arrive earlier, but it's multiplat. Sony is marketing it well it seems.

He then asked if I saw Titanfall's CE statue with a grin on his face. I said yeah even though I'm sad it's a X1 exclusive, since X1 won't be released in Portugal for a while (is there an official date yet?). He told me they'll sell them soon enough (perhaps before Xmas?), imported versions. I'll check them out and see the price difference - I'm expecting they'll cost 100€ more at least.

That's pretty much it. Forgot to ask about PS4's vertical stand, I really want one.

I wouldn't consider ordering at amazon.com a huge risk since they are a reputable company. I would have never bought it on Ebay or Craigslist.

A possible hardware defect would indeed suck, but I'm willing to take this risk considering I otherwise probably wouldn't get a PS4 this year. Patience is not by biggest strenght

do we know how many maufactorin plants for ps4s are there? Also have we ever heard of a US gaffer who got a PS4 from a different plant then Hongfujin?

If sony has more manufacturing plants chances are really good that only the us units where manufactured @ Hongfujin. Because AFAIK they also box the consoles at the plant. So a sepereate one for US, Europe and Asia makes sense.

Amazon US and Amazon UK are completely distinct operations, right (Luxembourg getting all my money). I remember the 3DS XL having all sorts of issues reported when that came out because of Amazon US, fucked up screens and all that, and I never heard much of that from the European end.

Similar situation here, although the new Fifa isn't doing enough for me. Watching NFS Rivals streams has me sold on it as my DriveClub replacement at launch and I'm hearing positive impressions about AC4 which I've gone back-and-forth on for similar reasons to Fifa (i.e. cross-gen effort, up-port etc.) but I think the next gen versions of AC4 stand out just a bit more than Madden and Fifa.

Can any NA people who have a PS4 answer this for me?

I've been watching some videos and it does not appear that there is a "game library" section in the UI. You have your top XMB-style menu system which has "notifications" "settings", etc. Then down one row you have that dynamic menu which has your most recent games and some other stuff.

Where's the game library? That dynamic menu isn't going to be much use when you have 100+ PSN games installed, is it?

What games are you getting?

Retail wise only BF4. I'll invest a couple hundred hours into it minimum, so that'll keep me busy enough until the first wave of year 1 titles comes. I'm glad it plays just like the PC version, huge maps and same number of players, hopefuly without the game-breaking bugs. 900p and 60fps is a nice bonus.

I'm also eagerly awaiting Warframe. I'll transfer my PC account as soon as I can. My PC simply can't handle it on max when I'm playing defence. Crisp 1080p, 60fps and highest settings, will be a joy!

I'll try Blacklight once in a while if I ever get bored of BF4. And Planetside2 when it comes out (another game my laptop can't handle).

Overall I'm really hyped about PS4's free-to-play games


For year 1 titles, I'll get Driveclub, Darksouls2, DeepDown(free), Destiny, Witcher3, MGS5 and N++ guaranteed.
While keeping TeS: Online, Infamous SS, The Order, Transistor, Watch Dogs and Child of Light close to my heart - commission money will determine my decision to get them, but they do look interesting.

I will get the playstation camera as soon as headtracking is available for a racing game or FPS. That thing makes me wet!


I don't get why some say the PS4 has weak launch titles. Don't multiplats count? 360/ps3's launch was nothing compared to this - so many launch and launch year games. I'm pretty stocked

It's early days. I remember GAME selling the original Saints Row for 360 at £50 and that was about a year after the 360 launch. FWIW, Playasia are selling US versions for around £37 before postage if you're stuck but hopefully the online retailers will soon settle around the £40 mark.

it's definitely an option but taking customs into account i might as well just go with Amazon. I'll be there for whenever the first couple of JPN games are announced though. Love me some imports.

I must be one of the only people without a preorder, I'm hoping the stars align and i can pick up one pretty easily on release.
