Super Smash Bros Wii U and 3DS Thread 3: Ridley's Believe It or Not!

You guys really think we'll get a December Direct? Nintendo doesn't have anything left to announce before Christmas. Late January Direct at the earliest
 
A mini-direct in December maybe. There'll be a full-fledged Direct come January. Hopefully be focused solely on the Wii U like last time.

Would be a smart decision to reveal something before the Holidays. Whether it happens or not is another thing entirely.

Well considering Japan didn't join in on the November Direct we just have, I think we might have one more before the end of the year.

If not, FULL STEAM AHEAD TO JANUARY DIRECT #2.

the question is not which new comer will be revealed, but how many?

Seems like it could be compromised a bit.. Other games with Peach don't have her so fancy and realistic looking, especially compared with Mario:

Actually, why doesn't she look more like that?
Mario seems a bit off too [in smash bros].. Maybe it's time they update all these old models..
 
I believe it's because Smash Bros is more "edgy", even though it's still a very silly game. In contrast the mainline Mario games are always happy stuff

Smash tries to follow it's own style while staying true to the characters they represent Even if they don't match the 3D World models, they look a lot more like themselves than in Brawl or Melee.

This. The characters still look distinct following their look in their original games but are "edited" to have a matching tone with each other.

That way, styles don't clash without losing design, unlike a certain All Stars Battle (no not Jojo).

Yeah, Mario felt a bit off in Brawl. He looked a bit thinner and have smaller hands and still kinda does in this one(he looks great in the 3DS version, though). I also felt that his "personality" was a bit off 'cause he acted so serious and looked angry all the time. I dunno why they had to mess with that

He was fighting, and being determined is one of the few personality traits he has.

What is the issue here?

I would be very frustrated if they created yet more duplicates of Zelda characters instead of actual Zelda characters. I disliked the fact that they brought Toon Link back in the first place, this would be even more annoying.

I wouldn't have a meltdown so much as be very irritated. TWW is actually my favorite Zelda game (tied with Majora's Mask), I just dislike that they would create more variations of the same character instead of using the series's extensive catalog of characters.

I feel the exact same way with Paper Mario (only replace "Favorite game in series" with "Favorite game of all time") and a full-fledged Doctor Mario. There's just so many great characters that could be explored instead of a separate incarnation of an already-existing character. If they want to show off characteristics from different continuities, just incorporate some of it into the core character.
 
I'm disappointed in Toon Link returning if only because if we were going to get a younger Link, I'd rather have the new one from Link Between Worlds. I guess it is convenient that Wind Waker got an HD upgrade to make that version of Link relevant again but still.

But yeah Zelda needs more unique characters, no more clones or variations of Link/Zelda in the roster. I'd be happy if we could get Link, Toon Link, Zelda/Shiek, along with either a unique Ganondorf moveset or a new villain altogether as a newcomer.
 
Toon Zelda would be so awesome but due to style continuity issues between adult link and ganondorf, I doubt it will happen. I think it would be awesome if we got Toon Zelda and Toon Ganondorf to be honest, but then adult Link would be the only one in the more "realistic" style, which would be jarring.
