Vita PSN Game & Service Thread | November 2013 | Tearaway into a new world

The thing is that you don't need 999 to understand VLR. All you need to know of 999 is in VLR. Of course, you SHOULD play 999 because is an incredible game on its own right. In fact, 999 spoiled my fun with VLR because...well, VLR isn't that good.

IMO 999 should be required before playing VLR.

I disagree. I played 999 and VLR back to back and I didn't find 999 essential for understanding VLR. But if you can play 999, that's ok, but not essential.

I cannot stress enough: 999 it is an awesome game, and way better than VLR. Just be warned that by playing 999 it will spoil some things in VLR, and could seriously detract your overall enjoyment.

I got tired of VLR and gave up. It's just so long-winded and repetitive, and the puzzles aren't challenging. The ending may be interesting, but how can it be worth 20+ hours of monotony?

Whoa, my second day with the vita and I'm in love!! what a fantastic piece of hardware.

Only a few cons, the speakers are too low, select and start buttons are a pain in the ass and I thought the grey frame around the vita was metallic and not plastic.

Can't wait to play P4Golden, only played 12-15 hours back in the day on ps2.

So what's up with that shahid fella?

Were's the PS vita so conceited game he was bringing to Vita for North America
hoping its Type-0 please

I mean where the updates at!!!!!!

if you play VLR without at least reading the LP of 999, you're stupid

read the first ending all the way through, then the story bits of the remaining endings

To Europe, he works for scee, gio corsi is scea ;)

The problem with both of them is that they tease things(for them they are big deals but we don't know how good they really are) too early, maybe the same day they sign the deal, so the localization/port/game progress is literally at 0% and we have to wait many months before the announcement.

So, you wish that people who don't have access to a Nintendo handheld should never get to play the franchise?

find my LTTP thread

read the OP

open the LP

read the first ending all the way

skim the remaining endings, reading only the plot bits & wathcing only the ends

boom done

I hereby declare that talking about VLR or 999 (except for recommendations, etc) in this thread is banned.

It's tiring to see the same things/arguments being repeated. Not only that, it's also being repeated elsewhere in this forum whenever there's a thread about either game.

Anyone who dares to even mention them will be cursed by the heavens to have a Laughing Banana eXperience (
LBX...? lol
)

Yea, Really don't want to spend $40 on a Vita game, but I also want to show MM some first day sale love. I'll end up buying it at launch, but will slightly annoyed by the lack of sales/promotions for it. :)

Also, I am going to start playing P4G tonight. I've never played it, but am itching for an RPG. :D

Never played an PSP games before (k well not a lot Loco Roco, Patapon, and Patchwork heroes) ...if I could buy only one off the store what should I get? Want something less than $10.
EDIT: No JRPGs gotta finish Grandia and P4G first

It could be said the same for everything that is talked in this topic. Settle down, rookie.

Do we know the download size of Tearaway yet? I put funds in my wallet so hopefully I can grab it while on vacation, so just curious.
Also plane had power outlet which was awesome.
I mainly played Rayman Legends as I still need to beat it.
Checked out Lone Survivor for about an hour, just felt as if I was stumbling upon things, not actually figuring them out, although the delirium from a 15 hour plane ride definitely could have added to that.
Played some Castlevania as well, was sucking hard. It's been a long time.
But would love to grab Tearaway for the plane ride back as long as the download size is not insane.

Valkyria Chronicles 2.

Sure you could say it's a JRPG, but the gameplay emphasis is on strategy more than it is leveling. Granted, the best way I could put it is that VC2 is as much of an RPG as STALKER is - It's sticks to it's own genre (In VC2's case, Turn-based strategy), with RPG elements enhancing the experience.

Wat. Did you mean the opposite (of the bolded)?

Also, the argument never was that 999 is needed to understand VLR, but 1) that it will diminish the impact and enjoyment of several plot points of VLR, and 2) that VLR completely spoils every single twist of 999, and considering how good 999 is, that's simply criminal.

BTW, that webform Let's Play is an awesome way of experiencing the game even if you don't have a DS. Definitely a complete must for those who cannot or will not play 999 before VLR.

Still no word from Squeenix of a western physical release of FFX/X-2 for the Vita :/

I neeeeeeeddd that box

go to gamestop

ask to get some vita cases they'll probably give you some for free or something

oh no he had a tweet talking about another game it was way after bordelands 2.
edit: apparently a website is banned from here well heres da quote.
Today, Mr. Ahmad posted the latest about where he is with that pesky JRPG:

We are still working on it. Help us by lobbying the creators for your favourite games on Vita. Your voice counts.

Adding:

We are making some progress on #jrpgvita though.

As well, Shahid teased another game he’s trying to bringing over to PlayStation:

Oh did I mention I proposed a deal to bring one of the most requested games across to Vita tonight? Might have some good news soon.

Amazing Spiderman?

If anybody secures this sucker early: gameplay videos.

I've been super curious and the screenshots at its announcement weren't great...but...but....

I hope it's not complete shit.

How about some PS1 games?

RE1/2/3 seems to be below $10

I started Uncharted the other day and it kinda feels wrong to play a game like this on a handheld. Not sure why. Generally I'm quite happy with the indies and sidescrollers. Need more RPGs though.

Don't get me wrong, indie games (well of them such as hotline, spelunky, etc.) are amazing and work well on the Vita, but when the Vita was first announced I was hoping it would carry on what the PSP had. Which was a healthy abundance of JRPGs and the likes.
A part of me does not like that I dropped down $250 on a handheld for it only to be supported by games I can get on steam, but at the same time, I love the fact that I can play the indie games I like on the PC to go.

999 MAKES VLR better. It actively improves VLR's story. It makes the experience BETTER. If you're not actively seeking to make your experience as good as it can be, you're not acting in the smartest way, and you're actively devaluing yourself of the experience. Story summaries, LPs and video playthroughs don't give you the same effect because you're being guided through. It's like a movie like Memento being watched with the director's commentary on. You don't get the opportunity to experience it yourself, instead you're being guided through by another person. You snooty, stuck up people who think that it's not necessary in order to get the best experience are just wrong.

fug it i'll take taco's idea and make my own cover

lazy ass square not wanting to release a physical copy

I remember reading someone said Tearaway becomes about 950MB after the install but yep, bit larger for the download.

Loving Jak and Daxter 1. Bit choppy but I love this kind of game :) Tried 2 but wasn't what I was looking for, might go back to it after finishing 1.

I was thinking about picking up the trilogy. Never played the series.

Hmm, it's not an easy recommendation for me, I've only played the first one for a few hours now and I am enjoying it but it has issues! It's not a perfect game or anything but it has its charm - level design, objectives (collecting a lot).
Can be challenging at times, and of course it's aged in terms of some mechanics -strict rules (but I kind of like that :).

It's pretty laggy in terms of input but it's mostly consistent at least, doesn't affect gameplay too much once you are used to it. I never played it before and I'm enjoying it, but I did get it through a store glitch a while back (less grumpy about its faults as I didn't pay).

I've been pretty hooked to it, very charming, classic gameplay. Has some tough parts, still making my way through it.

Seriously, would you guys kindly discuss a 3DS game in their respective official thread? Or at least in the official platform that it was released?

Or just exchange PMs. I'm pretty sure they have a community thread for both games.

Appreciate your understanding.

So turns out that DJMax Technika is more like Rock Band than Ouendan. As in, after 30min my left arm is numb in pain.

HOW DO I HOLD THIS GODDAMN CONSOLE ARGH

I feel I should had grabbed Portable 3 instead :(
