Vita PSN Game & Service Thread | November 2013 | Tearaway into a new world

Go in the trash like Okchief420
I hope his PSP worked!
The only Platinum I've ever gotten is from Guacamelee. :(

Same here...I have the motivation to get a few more these days though. Sucks Lumines didn't come with a platinum, some of those trophies...damn. Still, fun game of course.

Heh, we're doing Tearaway avatars? I'll have to make something on Monday.
I hope so, want to see more. Congrats on your new Vita btw!

Just posted this in the PS4 thread. Maybe my Vita-Cats have some guidance

Basically I sent the following email in to my favorite PlayStation Podcast just looking for some help. Here it is:

I'm hoping to give a voice to a problem that I think more PlayStation users have than you might initially think. Here's the problem:

I made a PSN account before I was 18, it's a sub account, you have heard this story before. Can't change my name? Fine, okay. Can't manage my own funds without going through the master account? Okay. All those other dumb restrictions? Fine.

Now I'm being told that on PS4 consoles the share button is virtually useless to sub accounts; we cannot share anything. One of the benchmark features of the next generation of PlayStation is inaccessible to me and that really bums me out.

The solution to this problem is what exactly? Make a new PSN account? I really would like to. Problem is, I'm a Vita user and have been since day one. I want my consoles to work together but that would be at the cost of literally hundreds of dollars in digital PSN purchases. Again, I'm getting really bummed out.

What's the best solution team? Do I bite the bullet and make a new account now or hope that Sony has a way to make my PSN ID a master account at some point in the near future? Just looking for some guidance, I apologize for the exceptionally long email.

Thoughts?

^ Seriously sucks ... I definitely wouldn't change accounts, fuck that. They need to sort it out, but I would sit tight.

For those that don't know, by default the Vita has a power saving setting enabled that limits the wifi power. Turn that off, you don't want that for Remote Play.

The setting is "Use Wi-Fi in Power Save Mode" - untick.

Jak and Daxter 1- anyone remember how to get across this? Just miss out on the jump (it dips up and down like it's floating but still just out of reach).

UvPk0vt.jpg

It must be just a timed jump as it was a bit of a pain to get that thing to float from the underwater already. But tried it so many times I'll want confirmation to keep going :P

Valkyria Chronicles 2.

Sure you could say it's a JRPG, but the gameplay emphasis is on strategy more than it is leveling. Granted, the best way I could put it is that VC2 is as much of an RPG as STALKER is - It's sticks to it's own genre (In VC2's case, Turn-based strategy), with RPG elements enhancing the experience.

That's not on vita psn last I checked. Unless it was added? In which case that's awesome.

Yea, Really don't want to spend $40 on a Vita game, but I also want to show MM some first day sale love. I'll end up buying it at launch, but will slightly annoyed by the lack of sales/promotions for it. :)

Also, I am going to start playing P4G tonight. I've never played it, but am itching for an RPG. :D

If you go digital, it's $35 and all the money goes into Sony's pocket. And therefore, more to MM.

IMO yes. 999 is an incredible game, and has to be experienced before VLR.

Glad you're not the ruler of me. I played VLR with only reading a small bit about 999 (and finding it ridiculously confusing).

I was more than happy with my experience with VLR and it may have turned me around on first person point/click adventure type games... makes me glad I bought Corpse Party: Book of Shadows.

find my LTTP thread

read the OP

open the LP

read the first ending all the way

skim the remaining endings, reading only the plot bits & wathcing only the ends

boom done

That works too.
I didn't even do this much and was more than content.

Why "on a Vita game". Is there something about Vita where quality titles should cost less than other consoles? Granted, I think it's highway robbery that other territories are getting Tearaway at budget prices and the US is a full retail game... but still...

I'm working my way towards that Muramasa platinum trophy.

Me too. Just the Fury mode stuff left -- I'm still on hiatus from the game after all that... figure I'll wait for the DLC to get back into it.

Here's a question. I noticed that Legend of the dragoon isn't on the vita store but this:
http://us.playstation.com/games/legend-of-dragoon-ps3-psp.html says it's compatible; is there anyway to transfer legend of the dragoon from my pc or even psp to my vita? I don't own a ps3 so I can't bounce it off that.

Time to buy a PS3.
Or a PS4.
Or you could do yourself a favor and forget that the game ever existed.

I thought they were adding something to let sub accounts migrate to full accounts once the age of the person was over 18...

You can buy VC2. But again, I think you might need a PS3. Or PS4.

Honestly at this point I'm so fed up with all the waiting and red tape that I'm going to settle with blowing up and starting over.
Just gotta pull the trigger and say bye to that old account...

:'(

I don't think you can buy non-PS4 content on the PS4 store.

Really? No Vita section?

Man, I'm seriously tired of Persona 4 dungeons. I'm
pursuing Adachi right now
and I'm bored as hell, as much as I want to fight that guy.

I'm level 75 and my party is around 68. I sometimes feel like just going through the levels evading enemies and fight directly against the bad guy.

Hey Vitabros!

You may not know me, but I know you O_O (creepy right?)
I've been following the Vita threads on GAF for 6-7 months now, without having been a member (thankfully the Android App saves my spot in the thread...)
Finally decided to create an account (and wait a few months for activation, heh) so that I could drop by and say hi!
Also, I'm almost done with P4G ;_; I was hoping you guys could recommend some RPGs?
My library right now is P4G, Breath of Fire 4, Grandia, Muramasa Rebirth, Disgaea 3 and Soul Sacrifice (PS1 Harvest moon and Rayman as well, but not really RPG related there).
Things on my radar:

Atelier games, Ys memories of Celceta, and VLR.

Recommend anything that i can download digitally from PSN straight to Vita (no PS3, no Jeanne d'Arc ;_;) whether it be PS Vita, PS One, or PSP. Just to save the time, I've never been a fan of FF (Grandia for life), so yeah...
I'm going to get Tearaway day 1 (thanks for unknowingly selling me on it btw) so I'm limited to another $40 to feed my RPG needs until the new year. Do I hold out for Ys? Go for Atelier? Haven't played any games in either series. Not to fan the enormous out of control flames but VLR even though I haven't and can't really play 999? Or something else?

Also any idea how early in 2014 Demon Gaze will be?

I just Platinumed Jak and Daxter yesterday, took me three days, amazing game :) If I remember correctly I ran, double jumped off the rock and then span. Took me about three attempts.

Started Jak 2 this morning, oh naughty Dog, what happened? Giving Jak an angsty aggressive persona and making the game all grimdark and cool, I miss the bright happy world of J&D 1 already :(.

Just read a synopsis of 999 if you really have no other avenues to play it. It enhances but isn't required so much that you shouldn't play VLR.

Go for Ys, any Ys. If you enjoy hack and slash action that is fast paced with a rocking soundtrack than Oath or 7 will be great, and cheaper, starting points for the series. You start with 7 if you want a taste of what Celceta will be like. It's much more like 7 than Oath.

If you've finished Persona 4... Have you tried P3P? Even if you played FES in the past, there you can play as a girl. New events, new answers, new Social Links, same Tartarus. Its main con is the fact that everything looks like a visual novel. Everything outside the dungeons is made with static backgrounds. I didn't have a problem, especially because you can have full control of your party... no Marin Karin when you are about to die anymore.

The Atelier games are good stuff, in PSP there is Legend of Heroes and Ys, both awesome. Trails in the Sky 1st Chapter has a sequel coming out in 2014, so don't be afraid of buying it.

And, for PS1, there is a lot of awesome stuff to buy. But I don't know so much about the PS1 goodies.

Waiting for Toto "P3P is garbage" comment :P

Edit: If you buy Tearaway, you're welcome here xD

From what I recall, you're supposed to reach it from within the pod. Later in the level within the pod, you should find a way that'll take you right up to the orb.

^Sorcery Saga: Curse of the Great Curry God is Dec 10. Mystery Dungeon kind of game.
Atelier Totori is dirty DD-Only and was half off a few months ago.

I've just seen the king's game in Persona 4 Animation (Youtube recommended that clip to me) and it was awesome lol. I may watch it after all even if designs are (imo) a step back compared to the portraits in the game. Everything was really funny, and I laughed really hard seeing how they handled Yu (the main character), at least in that exact piece.

Yo, Ammatar as I'm someone how is into PSX gaming on the Vita, mind posting which region you're using? Are you EU or US? Also mention what genre you like the most and I'll compile a list for you.

Glad you're not the ruler of me. I played VLR with only reading a small bit about 999 (and finding it ridiculously confusing).
That's because you didn't play the game. 999 was a great game to play and experience. Just reading about it won't do.

Sat here with my finger hovering over the buy button for a vita right now, but to anyone who owns one along with a ps4, is it worth buying just for that sole reason? I probably wont buy any games, I just want it for remote play.

Actually tell a lie, i may buy some games, but probably not alot, im a bit of a RPG nut, one who prefers to grind, so if someone could recommend some of those too that would be greatly appreciated!

Well, if you like JRPGs, you probably will have more to play in a PSVita than a PS4 xD. There is a guy that asked for some good JRPGs Vita / Vita compatible, so you could look back. Native, the best things out there is Persona 4 Golden, Atelier Totori / Meruru and the upcoming FFX/-2 HD remasters. There is some other (more niche) stuff.

If you never bought a psp, then you have a library of rpg games to play of even just the watered down selection of what's available digitally. Although some real gems will forever be missing.

(stealth Birth by Sleep post)

And the ability to play a PS1 rpg with the suspend feature is a godsend.

Thank you! Will go hunting for it again tonight. Just trying to finish off blackgate before the store shuts, need some quick cash.

Oh I missed this, thanks - will try that spin! Might do it as I'm sooo close to landing.
I know what you mean about II, jumped in and out of it very quick, hopped into 1 and loved it, even with the retro jankiness/port stuff. It may have been better at the time (when 3d platformers were maybe mostly cheery..)

Cheers guys, I actually bought a vita when it first came out but i sold it because there was nothing i wanted to play.

Like I said though it will mostly be used for remote play, that would be the main reason for buying it would you say its not worth a purchase for that alone?

Another question i have is if i have say for example FF8 on my ps3, can i play that on the vita?

Decent amount of games have come out since then, indies especially are convenient on it. Remote play should be good, depends how much you'll want to use it (hopefully good network setup, perhaps grab a vita case).

ff8 will work, most ps1 games do but some have compatibility options. You'll be able to download from the vita store, using the same account you bought it on the ps3 - but you can only use one account on vita.

If there are any PS1 games you can't transfer or download directly and play on vita, you can play all PS1 games via remote play through your ps3

Alright okay.

So the quality of remote play depends on how good your internet connection is I guess?
Im meant to have a 40mb connection but i only get about 10 down and 5 up so hoping that will be enough for it to be decent!

The indies will be nice, but the main pull of buying one is being able to play ps4 games on it in bed :D

Internet connection only important if playing outside of the home but need to have a good home network setup (router). So good signal reaching your bedroom. And ideally connect the PS4 to the router via a cable. If that is hard, look into powerline adapters. They are magical and cheap.

I'll give it a few more hours rather than just dismissing it outright but I have Virtua Tennis 4 and Lego Lord of the Rings to distract me now......the latter i somehow missed on ps+ so bought for a tenner second hand.

Just ordered one, thanks for everyones help, just gotta wait for the 29th now to get my ps4!

Also I knew i should've bloody "bought" all the games on playstation plus for the vita ._.

Probably in the low decimal range.

Do you know if there is any group / web that posts real "EU numbers"? The only place I know that gives some kind of data is... well banned. I'm really curious about how much market share the PS3 has here (in Spain) compared to the 360. Especially because most people I know with a 360 are switching to Sony because that "Sony - Bungie alliance".

Well, you can still buy Gravity Rush, which is the best PS+ Vita title to date. GR + P4 alone are worth buying a Vita <3

Vita sold 25,000 units, not 25 ;)

Well, we may see a 3k bump? XD

They are not going to market KZ: Mercenaries, right? Not even in ShadowFall adds like they did with Batman Blackgate.

I thought they were adding something to let sub accounts migrate to full accounts once the age of the person was over 18...
Yeah they just annouced it earlier this week, though apparently it's not ready quite yet. Once it is, it sounds like the plan is for customer service to be able to upgrade an account for you.

Your best bet is to follow the PAL charts on this forum. Nintendo tends to release European data as well.

Almost certainly not.

Almost certainly not.

Pff... that's really shitty. It isn't that hard to add 5-7 seconds to a Shadow Fall add saying something like "The fun continues on the go with KZ Mercenaries. Only in PSVita" with a couple of epic-scripted-everything-is-exploding scenes that don't show anything (like most of the latest videogame adds...)

In the meantime, I am still waiting for Sony to allow for multiple accounts on the vita. Not really a big deal, since I am on my primary account 90% of the time, but still....

How is the price structure psn store? Does it vary much between regions, and can you switch?

Yeah, the prices vary between regions. You can switch, but it requires formatting your vita and another memory card. It is easy, but takes a few minutes compared to the instant toggle on the ps3.
