Bravely Default Demo Out Now on European E-Shop

i really love this game but i have one question:
how can you use magic?
i already bought the thandara(?) and wind spell from the shop and have a black mage on level 3.
when i choose magic, black magic is not clickable...

You can't use black magic outside battle.

Aero is white magic, and Thundara is tier 3 magic, (your black mage needs to be at job level 4 to use it)

Just beat the Dragon, but holy shit at the Automaton -.-

If you have a laptop or wireless USB adaptor you can set up a virtual streetpass hotspot. I got 15 villages and it took no time, I think the demo said villagers/street-passes will transfer over to the full version.

Any specific macs to use to get hits in bd? I tried a few and so far nothing.

That's odd, once you buy the spells they are automatically learned and can be used, provided your job level is up to snuff. Do you have 'Black Magic Lv3' on your ability list?
ok, so the wind spell is useable, maybe my level isnt high enough?
btw, this game has some many nice little features.
e.g. the battle speed up option and auto play, soo good, this way grinding isnt very tedious anymore.

I was sold on this game on art alone. The demo has now completely convinced me.

4 hours 30 something minutes so far of the demo, maxed 4 jobs each and killed the final boss, now building village stuff while trading street pass hits with my wife.

This is exceptionally good, December cannot come soon enough.

Obviously this demo is unrelated to the full game, but I hope there's more story to the full game. It's the only thing this demo is lacking.

If you are using the Macycle program, in the 4th tab you can use the official MAC addresses although I generally just set it up to cycle random every 60 seconds and leave the 3DS in sleep mode.

Just killed the Ogre boss without receiving any damage. I think I might need to increase the difficulty :D

For some reason the Ogre almost only attacked my Ninja. Utsusemi+Transcience = OUCH. Being able to use Utsusemi with my Black Mage also helped :D

Are you talking about the demo or the full game? Because i just killed the automaton in the demo, which i think is the last boss, and i dont remember killing any ogre boss.

Demo. The boss in the South Dungeon. I don't remember its name, but it sure did look like an ogre to me.

Hmm, strange. I read all of them, but probably missed that. Thanks.

Well I'm replaying the demo on the OG 3DS atm, that help screen hasn't appeared yet, (yet to beat 1st mini-boss) will post camera screens if I see it or I read things wrong, either way I need those help/hint screens for the OT XD

During the gameplay of the demo, it'll talk about compatible/incompatible equipments via help/hints screens

That's a minotaur.
Oh, ok. Still amazed how much of a difference using the non-fixed Job Ability can make. Currently building up a White Mage/Singer. Perfect supporter

Black and red mages are completely pointless other than 1 skill (damage dispersion). There's no reason to use them when most physical attackers can do just as much damage and are both faster and can take a hit better.

Buff up + damage dispersion + angelic ward + that ninja skill practically makes you invincible

Woot, after 2 hours of errors I finally could make it work, awesome!

Nice, I finished it! Normal was surely hard! I can't imagine how Hard will be! Only the village remains now, I think I'll leave 3DS open for some time... lol Team was Black Mage, White Mage, Swordmaster and of course Ninja! When I understood how the ninja plays, it was easy mode.

No using DD-WRT to change wlan mac, but I tried using the script but it kills the web-GUI after cycling, and I still haven't gotten a single hit in the game yet :/

this... this actually worked

no reason for me to leave the house anymore

Did you make sure to make a virtual wifi hotspot ? (the script will only work with a virtual wifi connection)

IGN has a list of the main MACs though, no idea which one would be best and you can only get one street pass ever 8 hours from them, from what I gather.

yes I did make a virtual hotspot. And it does cycle, just after the 1 time it kills webgui and i have to go through telnet to kill the process and restart it so i can once again access webgui.

What am I supposed to do at the beginning of the demo? Walked around town for a bit then left heading south ending up in a dungeon where everything destroyed me

Find a quest by talking to the people in the town. When You're done with the quest find a new quest.

Talked to everyone except the person who gives the first quest. I knew I was missing something.

Is it just me or is Jump ridiculously more powerful than anything else available when you first start?

Quest givers are marked with an exclamation mark on the bottom map too ;)

Jump is pretty damn good, even better if you take the character through the Knight job to get the Two-Handed ability as well. I doubt most of these jobs will be available from the start in the full game though. Valkyrie especially I can see being unlocked later on.

From what I've read you start only with Freelancer. You unlock everything else by boss fights (some of which are compulsory, some of which are optional). It's probably why the Demo bonuses are so modest in comparison to the stuff in the demo (the demo is very compressed compared to the main game both in terms of class abilities and Nolende).

PS- Finished Nolende this morning, setup a HomePass tonight, 50 minutes later I have 5/10 Bravely Default passes. Not bad.

Which macs did you use? I cycled though a bunch and I haven't hit a single streetpass ingame.

I'm using the cycler here (you do need to have Virtual Router installed first though): http://gbatemp.net/threads/macycle-the-improved-mac-changer-for-homepass.353328/

Set it to Random, and gave it an interval of 177 seconds (with 3 second cooldown for the card reset) , since that works out as 8 hours to cycle through all 160 MACs.

I didn't get any hits either for the first 10 I did, then I got a bunch of hits (but it's pretty obvious that there's not a lot of players doing this, I only got 3 unique people in 10 hits when I harvested them but that doesn't matter for villagers).

The demo beat my rosy expectation.
Feels like a Squaresoft RPG from the '90.

4 heroes of light was a nice idea but flawed, this seems the real deal though.

Already had dd-wrt running, but the script for that doesn't like my router,
as it kills the web-gui of it after a single change then stops.

Tried the windows route just now too,
but the virtual router app installer seems to be corrupt because it's teling me the installer misses a DLL,
And it doesn't even specify which I miss.

This is great! Thank you so much for the link, it's the first time I ever got Streetpass working here. :D

Welp, I guess DD-WRT is out, since I got told to downgrade to an older build.
Which I'm not gonna, It was troublesome enough to get DD-WRT on my router to begin with.

Brave -> Brave -> Brave -> Brave -> Fight -> Fight -> Fight -> Fight
That's basically all I'm doing and seems to be working so far. I've only just entered the cave on the left for a quest so I expect still having to learn the battle-system later on.

You'll soon realize how useful the default option is.

Wasn't completely sold on the game but the demo did it for me. The job system is just magnificent; all the possible combinations and options were kind of overwhelming at first (mixing and matching abilities from all your levelled up jobs, current job commands and special ability, secondary job commands) but eventually I got the hang of it thanks to the hint cards. I played on hard and it was hard until I stopped blindly wandering around and did the quests. In the end I formulated a practically invincible ability and command combination so the last two bosses were a joke. I sure hope you can't just break the final game like that.
Oh, and the game looks and sounds except for the annoying menu music.

I just faced the first boss... I learned how useful Default is. Ouch.

Besides, if your White Mage doesn't have anything useful to do this turn, Default and have two turns for later.

Also, a Ninja who has Multitask from Swordmaster is an amazing sight once she gets going. 2-4 strikes per Attack command.

I put 10 very fun hours in the demo alone. In fact: I had more fun with this free demo than a lot of full-priced games this year. The full game is gonna be amazing.

Finished the demo. Will be getting the main game at launch.

Also : Valkyrie job is so good at clearing out random encounters on auto. (Press Y to let the computer do its own thing, I only stumbled across it by accident!)
