Vita PSN Game & Service Thread | November 2013 | Tearaway into a new world

Gravity Rush is a game that gets way better as you go, through a combination of learning the controls and those controls getting easier as you power up.

Sounds good, not having any real control issues so far, though evading as a screen swipe kinda hit me as a WTF at first.

Not really sure if something VN-heavy would be my cup of tea, but I'm gonna give VLR a whirl after Zelda and Tearaway.

Never played an PSP games before (k well not a lot Loco Roco, Patapon, and Patchwork heroes) ...if I could buy only one off the store what should I get? Want something less than $10.
EDIT: No JRPGs gotta finish Grandia and P4G first

How about Daxter? I'm playing through it right now and it seems to be a decent game. It's made by ReadyAtDawn. And it's only $7 on the US store.

Actually I've been wondering this too. Does it have the same clicky springyness as the Vita dpad?

Was asking because I saw Angry Joe complaining about it on his twitch.tv stream. I remembered I hadn't actually used it and always assumed it would be like the Vita D-Pad so I got a bit worried lol.

So has anyone here used the Dualshock 4? How does the D-Pad compare to the Vitas?
It's very nice. It's not exactly clicky like the vita's but there is a very nice, binary action to it without the actual clicking. It's built the same way as the previous Dual Shock d-pads in that the "plate" is below the surface of the controller while the 4 directional buttons are above it. However, it a little larger than the old design and it's also ever so slightly more concave. The space between the four directional buttons has been reduced so there's no longer so much empty space in the center where you rock your thumb. Combined with the nice springy action, the slight change in shape makes it feel very responsive. Feels GREAT to me, but I have yet to use it with a truly 2D game to really put it through its paces.

my 2 cents - DS4 dpad not as good as the Vita but better than DS3. Seems less prone to make you feel like it would give you blisters like DS3 but they still aren't close to each other like the Vita is with it's directional buttons so there is still is a gap in the middle.

Not as good unfortunately, but still a step up from the previous ones. You can tell it was definitely inspired by the Vita d-pad by how it's curved, but it's not as clicky. Still kicks the ass of most other d-pads though.

don't have to import ffx anymore

So let’s start with the one that most people are rightfully a bit anxious about: LUFTRAUSERS. Ironically, the above trailer still says ‘Spring 2013′, but we have been talking to Devolver Digital & Sony about the project a lot recently. With QA and FQA still ahead of us, we’ve established that 2013 is an unlikely release frame. That doesn’t mean it won’t happen, but it does mean that unless a miracle happens we don’t think it will launch before early 2014.

:(

Love PS4 remote play but need to make my Vita more ergonomically similar to the DS4. What is a good grip? Is the Nyko Power Grip good? Any other products to make the Vita more suitable as a controller?

I have the Biogenic one. It's...okay, but I'd prefer something with larger grips.

I'm gonna rent FFX HD I think. Never played it the first time around. I skipped basically every FF between 7 and 11. Only recently played 9, I liked that one.

3DS this year has really gotten me back into various kinds of JRPGs, I'm excited to try the stuff I've been missing on Vita.

FFX is a nice advance from 9 too although if you've played the later ones, I dunno. Worth going back for 7 of course too.

I really loved 9, it was the first one I completed. Loved 10 as well at the time even if it had some small quirks, sure.

I've actually only played like 3 hours of FFX. Got the major plot twist spoiled by my roommate sitting next to me at the time even though he knew it was my first time playing. Haven't picked it up since but pretty excited about giving it a go on the Vita.

Also buying in hopes that FFXII gets ported next

Doesn't PA charge a markup? You can get US PSN credit for a discount pretty readily from other users here.

P-A accepts my debit card and I only ever buy from them when I get a $5 off coupon.
Now I have a credit card though so I could get it from amazon for cheaper.
Mind you my mention of P-A is in case someone can't buy from Amazon.

I'm in US, thanks for the help!

You've got a good list of delicious 60 Hz PSX classics on dat OLED screen, I'll aim to compile a list soon, but off the top of my head:
Sonic Wings Special
Zanac x Zanac
if you like shoot'em-ups.

7, 8, and 9 are great.
I'm inclined to disagree with your statement about 10 though.
It was the first game in the mainline series that I didn't really like any of the characters or the story at all. It was also the first game in the series to remove a large chunk of the exploration aspect of the FF series. I remember being so excited for it. And I bought it the night it came out and rushed home to play it... and I forced myself to keep playing even though it never clicked... I felt like I was supposed to like it, because I liked every other FF game I'd ever played until that point... but I just didn't.

Hey GAFers. I'm enjoying the heck outta my PS Vita. Been playing more then my PS3 lately and just about equal timewise to the PS4. Anybody know when the. 64GB memory card being released stateside?? I'm itchin to import it, if it doesn't arrive in North America by spring next year

FamousMortimer, our resident insider of sorts, said there's no way it's coming in 2013. As for when in 2014? No word.

First time playing Flower, holy shit at the graphics and
the major shift in tone at the end of part 4.
.
Also, Proteus is more immersive then I assumed from the trailer. Got sucked in for an hour.

Flower is an amazing experience. I'm stoked that it's got a separate trophy list so I'm more motivated to give it a shot on Vita sometime soon.

^ Same about proteus, can't wait for flower either. Looks so wonderful on PS4, hopefully will be good on Vita too...when it comes out here in the UK.

I do remember the adjustment wasn't entirely comfortable to begin with for me either but I was mostly into FF for the story, characters, towns and battle system/traditional aspects (and music). What was there was enough to keep me going for sure and a few hours in I was enjoying it. It has been a while since I played it though, need a memory jog.

[edit - the exploration gameplay wasn't quite the same but in other aspects like graphics and mini-games etc. At the time it was a nice step up but fair enough, some of that charm went as well somewhat].

Haven't heard about a release date yet I don't think but importing isn't too bad (nippon-yasan/playasia).

I loved part 4. The night time lights and the music were really calm for some reason. And then along came part 5 to ruin everyone >_>

Also, heads up for those considering Injustice Vita. I've encountered noticeable drops during gameplay (usually when the background is breaking apart while I'm combing fools). It's not too frequent, but enough to be disappointing.
Other then that, the game is great IMO. Content seems comparable to MK9 and the characters seem much more fun and varied. Grundy's chain throws are a blast.
