VGXtreeeeme nominees are up (GOTY: Mario, TLOU, GTA5, Bioshock, Tomb Raider?)

If Camilla Luddington wins best voice actress, everything is wrong with the world.
No offense to her, but that wasn't a good performance at all.

It's a shame that The Swapper wasn't nominated in the Independent Games category. One of the best indie games I've played in years.

For GOTY, The Last of Us is the obvious choice, for me. No idea why Tomb Raider is nominated, though. It's a good game, but not even close to GOTY quality, in my opinion.

This feels wrong.

For one, SM3DW isn't even out yet, so I don't see how it can be nominated. There aren't even any reviews out yet (except for the leaked IGN one). I'm sure it will be amazing, but it seems weird to have it on the list.

For two, Smash Bros 4 isn't on the most anticipated list. Which confuses me to no end.

But then, these are the VGAs...I mean VGX...es.

this x1000.

Don't really care too much about these awards but it's pretty clear, TLOU and GTA V will clean up this year.

I will say that having Fire Emblem, Ni No Kuni and Pokemon in the best RPG category is very nice to see.

Bioshock Infinite and TLOU are my top 2 games this year. I think I actually liked Bioshock Infinite just a little bit more than TLOU, but I'm okay with either of them winning. TLOU has a much better shot than Bioshock, though.

TLoU wins every category it was nominated in imo. Performances for joel, ellie, soundtrack, adventure game, studio (ND) and GOTY. i though GTA would be a shoe in, but for me it just sort of came and went. The last of us has stuck with me though. I'm sure it won't win them all, but i would hope it would win the vast majority of what its nominated for.

While I haven't got it yet (plan to get it for Christmas) I feel I should vote for W101 to give it some support. I mean I haven't played SM3DW so I can't really vote for that.

The amount of time, effort put into Los Santos gets GTA V my vote easily. I played both TLOU and GTA V. I appreciate TLOU for what it did, but Rockstar deserve it for GTA V.

Wheres MGS V in Most Anticipated ?!!

Yea... "most anticipated" is definitely the most underwhelming list. I guess they're only looking at 6-10 months in the future, and anything after that doesn't count?

So what, people hate this game now?
When a crap game like NNK gets a nod when fantastic games like Etrian Odyssey IV and Shin Megami Tensei IV don't then yeah.

oh and I know somebody's gonna pull the fanboy card but my opinion wouldn't change if these two were 360, Vita, Wii U, whatever exclusives instead of 3DS. Good games should get mentioned, garbage games don't; end of storeh.

TLoU for me. No one was more excited for GTAV than me though, but the fucking driving.. I was so into the game for a couple of weeks that I just sort of swallowed it but turns out it killed the longevity of the game. I just don't want to explore the world with the arcadey driving that takes me out of the game world instantly.

I play GTA to be immersed in the beautiful sandbox world they've created so it's a shame the driving is now as sucky as in most open world games.

TLoU wins every category it was nominated in imo. Performances for joel, ellie, soundtrack, adventure game, studio (ND) and GOTY. i though GTA would be a shoe in, but for me it just sort of came and went. The last of us has stuck with me though. I say TLOU loses both Action Adventure and Soundtrack to GTAV. You can not possibly match the "action adventure" scope in GTAV, and that soundtrack had so much money/work poured into it.

Remember last year when telltale won studio of the year?

The studio that can't get a stable framerate even if they tried, and where your saves are playing russian roulette on pc?

Read the previous page. They play these games before we get them ;)

Yeah, but WE are voting on them. If the winners were chosen by reviewers there would be no problem, but it's just wrong that the public is allowed to vote for a game that nobody of them has played yet.

I would say KZ Merc should have gotten a spot on the handheld list. Best FPS on a handheld ever, easily. GG Cambridge did great with this one

still need to play tlou :S

Tomb Raider?

FUCKING Tomb Raider??

You taking the piss!?

Gotta say, personally, I think that's a weak list (not played Mario tho)

The three minutes I spent with Mario 3D World at the Best Buy post-E3 demo events was probably the best three minutes I spent with a game this year. I'm surprised so many people are upset it's in the GOTY category. People have played it and the developer has an incredible pedigree.

I hope it wins for the hilarious reactions it'll get.

Listing New Leaf in the best "Casual Game" category infuriates me though. Jesus Christ.

No The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds?? How is that possible. The game is supposed to be one of the best Zelda games ever...

Because the industry hates handhelds for some reason.

Especially hilarious considering 2013 may have beent the greatest year for dedicated handheld software EVER.

lol that PC category is all sorts of weird.

Stanley Parable and Gone Home are amazing. I haven't played Kentucky Route Zero, but I've heard great things about Papers Please. Then there's just Battlefield 4. Yeah. A bunch of cool indie games and then Battlefield. So that's kind of weird.

My personal GOTY is between TLoU and Bioshock Infinite, but I have a feeling GTAV will win a whole bunch of awards. The fact that Walking Dead won last year's GOTY gives me hope, but I think GTAV is too big of a game with too many sales to not win Spike's GOTY. I actually really like GTAV, I just don't think it's GOTY.

Also it will be really awkward if the voice actor for fake Ellen Page in TLoU beats Beyond's real Ellen Page.

Voted TLOU wherever i could.

I would've liked to vote GTAV at least in best soundtrack section, but frankly, even though the (original) soundtrack itself was great, they barely use it in the game.
TLOU on the other hand had a fantastic soundtrack, but also used it in an effective way, so it gets the vote even in that department.

§Most anticipated is Witcher 3, out of those.
In general it probably is FFXV, though.

Also, no "best graphics/visuals"?

Voting on Tomb Raider?

nope.gif

Well..

GTAV should win this (didn't play SM3DW yet)

This worries me more than comforts me. Makes me feel like our votes probably mean jack. Not like I felt like they did all that much before but still. Also don't think they should include games released within a month of the show, sometimes a game feels better while it's still fresh than after you've played it and had time to let it process a while. This show would be better placed in late January or early February. That way people have ample time to play, and December releases don't get screwed altogether.

Anyway, I'm hoping GOTY goes to TLOU and most anticipated to Destiny.

Good to see Tomb Raider nominated, still my #3 pick of the year.

The 5 seconds that TW101 will get during the nominee read off will be the biggest exposure the game will ever get.

haha, are you new to the VGA's? They don't usually do that, it's not the oscars. Last year they were giving awards out in the preshow on the red carpet.
The VGA's are about new game trailers.

Yeah, but WE are voting on them. If the winners were chosen by reviewers there would be no problem, but it's just wrong that the public is allowed to vote for a game that nobody of them has played yet.
Read the page. Most anticipated is the only viewer-voted category. Everything else is selected by a council of reviewers.
