VGXtreeeeme nominees are up (GOTY: Mario, TLOU, GTA5, Bioshock, Tomb Raider?)

GTA5 is not a game of the year its a gta game with a innovative 3 person story line....TLOU was a WAY better game anyone who voted GTA5 has a 360 and hates Sony so never played TLOU or just didnt have the money to buy a ps3 to try TLOU so you cant vote you have not tried it.... lol
Yep because a linear 10 hour experience with a predictable story is "WAY" better than GTA V.

I posted in the FGC thread already, but here is my request again:

Hi, I created Divekick. Please vote for it, as I am both a fellow GAFer and also a man who cancelled a fully funded Kickstarter, didn't keep a dime, and still honored my backers. Karma-cash in please! This award, no matter how silly, would mean the world to me!

Damn, I forgot or never even knew PSM died. And I may as well stick with that name since its life as the official magazine was fairly short.

Though it sounds like more are involved than just those staff, or at least they take input from other journalists.

I was always a Official U.S. PlayStation Magazine fan.

Very interested to see what wins Best Action/Adventure since three of those make up the GOTY picks.

Tomb Raider as out and out GOTY made me raise an eyebrow but the other choices are solid picks imo. SRIV not getting any musical nods also stood out to me

"best nintendo game"

"rayman"

...

why no Fire Emblem?

I dont know if its weirder that Rayman was included in the Playstation noms, or that it wasnt included in the Xbox noms.

I didn't vote for Last of Us. I played it and enjoyed it, but I personally found the depressing theme too much to say I liked it above my other favourite games this year.

Weirdly I voted Rayman Legends as best PS game, Mario for best Nintendo game and GTA as best 360 game.

But surely they will have results from the vote as well? I mean, why are we voting then? lol
I have no idea haha, although I don't plan to vote. "Player's choice" or something like that?
At least according to the OP out votes aren't official or whatever.

Forgive me if this is a dumb question or has already been covered. On the panel of journalists, if there is a representative from Official XBox Magazine, and multiple representatives from Polygon (if I remember correctly they are owned by Microsoft), should there not be representatives from Nintendo and Sony publications as well?

No Dota 2 on the PC nominees? WTF? The PC category nominees selection doesn't make any sense.

Voted for The Witcher 3 as the Most Anticipated game.

I don´t know where i have this from, but i think the all the public votes for goty count as one vote . So you have the all the votes from the journos and the one vote from the public vote.

lots of votes i know.

Where's Chosen by the moon and Rules of Nature for best song?

MGR for best soundtrack and action game?

EDIT: And Willem Dafoe was really forgettable, Cole was way better than Nathan. Glad to see Troy Baker nominated twice though :)

Can you guys saying "Rising" post links to some songs worthy of a nomination? I would like to hear.

Also, loving that Tearaway is there. It's going to rock my world

Just noticed we have enough action games this year for a category for them, they didn't even have to include MGR against The Last of Us and GTA V in the action/adventure genre. They could make a vote between MGR, DmC, GOW:A, Killer is Dead and Deadpool? Remember Me? Whatever.

Also Batman: Arkham Origins should be nominated somewhere, great game.

They could just go nuts and put Troy Baker as Joker as well in the voice actor category.

That all being said, this wasn't bad at all and I had fun voting.

Then they'd have no room for any Vita games.

For all I'm conserned Fire Emblem deserves to be there more than Pokémon or Animal Crossing even. Can't talk about Tearaway or ALBW yet.

Especially Animal Crossing. Man that game was a disappointed now when you look back.

The sad realization that Tearaway is just there out of pity.

Let's wait for the reviews (and playing the game ourselves even if it isn't relevant here) before making stupid statements like this. Everything I've seen about the game (reviewers tweeting etc.) has been very positive.

Galaxy 1 & 2 got robbed in 2007 & 2010. They weren't even nominated for GOTY.

I'll be pleasantly surprised if 3D World wins, but that still wouldn't make up for refusing to nominate the two highest rated games of last gen.

3 x Polygon.com (MS RP site)
2 x Penny Arcade
2 x Kotaku.com
1 x Official Xbox Magazine (MS RP site)
1 x SPIKETV (MS RP site)
1 x Game Informer Magazine
1 x Yahoo Games
1 x Wired.com
1 x Destructoid
1 x Entertainment Weekly
1 x Giant Bomb
1 x usgamer.net
1 x Gamespot
1 x PC Gamer
1 x AP
1 x Joystiq
1 x USA Today
1 x GamesRadar
1 x IGN Entertainment

I find it is unbalanced.
The above list speaks volumes. GTA V is taking home every major category and GAF should come to terms with this now.

If they put it in over Pokemon or Animal Crossing you'd just have people crying about those games not being in there. Fire Emblem is at least represented in the RPG category so it's not like it's totally absent.

They aren't. I think Microsoft funded their parent company (or something like that) with $750K though.

Ah, my mistake. Thanks for the clarification, Sendou. My question remains, then, as there is an OXM representative on the panel but no representative from a designated Sony or Nintendo publication.

Yep because a linear 10 hour experience with a predictable story is "WAY" better than GTA V.

And where exactly did you see the story being predictable? TLOU was miles better than any action/horror Hollywood script I can think of. One can discuss about the moral and ethical dilemmas portrayed in the game for weeks...

Dude fucking deserves it, he had an outstanding year this year

I agree with you, sir. GTA V should not win GOTY, because that honor should go to TLOU.

What GTA V should win is Game of the Generation.

Yes, because it was an experience. Something I can't say for GTAV.
Well, it was an experience of: a shitty soundtrack, forgettable characters(worse sidekicks than GTAIV), protagonists I didn't give a shit about, linear as fuck "heists" that weren't even heists, horrible day1 issues with SocialClub, don't get me started on the state of MP, etc.

For GOTY, I went with The Last of Us since it kept me engaged better than GTAV (runner up for everything it tackled gameplay wise) and was much better than Bioshock Infinite. Haven't played Tomb Raider yet, though I'm one of those delinquents who will probably have fun with it.

The rest of the sections were a bit odd, especially PC. I do like the nods to Gone Home, Papers Please, and the other game (Stanley's Parable?), but it seemed odd to then only have BF4 when one can argue something like Bioshock Infinite should be included due to its GOTY nomination. Then again, I haven't played them to really judge on if they were better games than Infinite.

Edit: Was just reminded about Tearaway. Hope that game is amazing.

If Camilla Luddington wins best voice actress, everything is wrong with the world.
No offense to her, but that wasn't a good performance at all.
Eh, if Page wasn't nominated I would share your concern. But since she is, Luddington doesn't stand a chance against her in both name and performance. This is going to be between Johnson and Page, which is actually quite hilarious. We've come full circle. My vote goes to Page, since she had a far higher range of emotions to cover and pulled them off quite amazingly, especially since she did all the facial mocap too unlike Johnson. One of her best performances to date for sure.

But Ellie probably wins as a fan favourite. Her actress did a stunning job as well, so I'm fine with it.

You spoiled it, because you know you all types of wrong.
