Vita PSN Game & Service Thread | November 2013 | Tearaway into a new world

If it doesn't disconnect when you standby the app, you can go to the settings app (vita's) and check internet status, the name of the connection should be different from your router, perhaps "PS4" ?

I really think the best bet would be connecting the PS4 directly to the router via cable or powerline adapter tbh - but it's worth testing the direct connection by turning off your router and playing a game offline.
I tried disconnecting my PS4 from the internet earlier, but my Vita wasn't able to find any PS4s nearby.

^ don't forget to try shai-tan's tip about switching the channels as well (previous page), edited that in a bit late - it would help for an optimal signal...but that sounds like something else in the settings to me...sorry not sure yet

did you disconnect the internet, or the router :) turn off the router, restart ps4 - check it's set to direct connect on vita

Me too. This was my most anticipated game for the Vita this year...

They do mention a little later on in the blog that Luftrausers is expected very early 2014 at least. Really looking forward to it as well. TxK would help kill the wait as well.

Currently going through the wipeout 2048 multiplayer campaign. Apparently you get new skins for each vehicle...can't pass that up but damn is the objective system a pain! At least it's not resetting progress anymore...fingers crossed lol.

Yea early 2014 is fine. But it was originally supposed to come out spring/summer this year. So it's disappointing it's been stuck in the certification process for so long.

I remember playing a couple multiplayer 2048 games w/ some people here btw was a lot of fun. But my PS+ expires this week so I won't be able to play anymore... :(

I'm not going to renew it 'till I get a PS4 probably. Which means end of next summer ><

It was posted earlier in the thread, but check out the Aksys store (link) for $5 deals on either a Muramasa fan+soundtrack or lithograph+soundtrack deal in support of Philippine disaster relief.

EDIT: Top of the page recommendation = Crazy Market. Hilarious voices and damn catchy music. MONEY-MONEY!

Amazing - thanks!

I'm not renewing quite yet either (broke and basically have most eu stuff already) but I'm a big fan of wipeout, it's never leaving my vita for sure! Extremely rewarding game once you get the hang of the tracks and the vehicles (speed laps).

I know what you mean about luftrausers as well, been hooked ever since playing the flash game (which is way too tough lol). Need that fix with cheats :) And by cheats, I mean actual useful weapons to take on those bloody ships. Anyway, another two months hopefully won't be too hard but I think they only just got around to sending it in for cert as they were working on different projects and the guy in charge of the luftrausers game wasn't getting back to them for a while so they weren't switching back to luftrausers enough.
Tearaway, (flower for me...gotta wait for ps4 release). Will pick up Legends soon too, especially now that the patch is coming. Where's that Spelunky one :/
Hopefully Terraria shows up sometime soon too. But TxK will be the only thing close to that fix. Shame we never got Dyad either. Lot of hopefuls lol, not much concrete :/ Will be able to forget for a while when Tearaway is out :)

I can't do anything about my school's router, but thanks for the advice. At least Resogun seems to work about 20% of the time, which is 20% higher than my success rate with any game on the PS3.

Is there no way to disconnect the PS4 from the router in the network settings option? Just to have it test the remote play I mean. Like a no internet or connection setting or does it automatically hunt for signals?

Perhaps try setting it to connect via LAN cable, and just saving it as the setting, even though it's not plugged in to anything (don't plug it in if you have one of those sockets).

Aren't you that guy who likes Sine Mora with its stupid invented language in which the narrator talks slower than Stephen Hawking?

But yes, I also hate that pseudo voice acting. My avatar just doesn't talk, you only look at him ;)

Invented language?
Dude, that's fucking Hungarian. :lol

Just need to finish Fury mode with Kiske. And then the in under 3 hours playthrough shouldnt be too bad.

You did all of Momohime's on Fury? Tips please. Seems like it's going to be a hassle, even with abusing wetstones.

I'm "stuck" in Muramasa because I keep trying to beat this one level 9 trial without getting hit (for trophy reasons, of course). It consists entirely of those monk dudes, but I can never beat it without getting hit. I keep retrying for maybe an hour and then get sad and switch to Ninja Gaiden or Spelunky (games that I also am not progressing much in either).

Uh... there are better caves of evil for that.

Kisuke will show you the way...

I thought I had disabled that WiFI on Power Saving mode thing but it was checked so I'll check it out (Edit: Didn't make a difference). Router is great, Vita is on max bars, I'm about 5 feet away from the PS4, and 20 feet away from the router. But I do have PS4 connected wirelessly to the router. I suppose I could get a powerline adapter. Worth a shot.

PS3's remote play was highly dependent upon your network configuration, so I bet PS4 is as well. The more things you have connected wirelessly, the more it's going to suck.

If anyone could help please?

The Demon boss?
Run to the opposite edge of the screen when it warns you. Stay behind the rocks and kill the demon fodder. Let your blades recharge. Then go rushing towards him, take a chunk of damage out of him and run.

This should give you a basic idea, even if it is fromthe Wii version:

What games do y'all suggest, VitaGaf? Because I can only think of P4G, Soul Sacrifice, and Dragon's Crown.

If you haven't played Rayman Origins or Legends id suggest picking them up. Muramasa is currently my handheld GOTY and Escape Plan is a charming game and it'll be cross buy with the PS4 version you.

Now that I think about it:
Games that I'd like on the Vita:
Portal 1 (and 2's SP campaign if possible)
El Shaddai
A new Crash Bandicoot platformer that's inspired by Super Mario 3D Land's structure

Thanks for the tips Fist.

Gravity Rush, DJ Max, Wipeout, Stardust Delta

Non-exclusives - Gaucamelee, Sly 4, Little King's Story, Mutant Blobs, Rayman, Hotline Miami, Stealth Inc, Velocity Ultra

So anyd news according date, when DOS game is released? Played beta and was kinda fun, waiting to see how the game is changed to retail (f2p) version, is it p2w or not.

Mutant Blobs may as well be an exclusive.
It was *designed* for Vita, so if you play the Steam version, it loses a bit in the lack of the touch/gyro controls.

A friend of mine got 2 Vitas for $180, so that prompted the post for suggestions.
They're the OLED versions too. :D

Escape Plan looks fun, and reminds me so much of the Black & White cartoons I watched as a kid. And with Muramasa, I've been hearing about it since the first game, so I think it'd be a good time to give it a chance.

that's a crazyCRAZY deal!
$90 for each Vita? good lord

They're used, but he tells me they're in good condition. A Wi-Fi and 3G versions, and the seller was selling a third Vita.

Guess some people got robbed?

You gotta introduce me to the robber! Prices like that is literally a steal!

If it comes with the charger, maybe he just wanted to sell them as an early Christmas gift?

Edit: Does it come with memory cards? If it does then goddamn that's amazing!

Damn why does MK look so terrible?

It may suck graphically but the content feels like I bought 2 games in 1.

If The Amazing Spider-Man is anything better than completely broken, I know I'm going to break down and buy it. I know I don't need it, but I just got volume 3 of Ultimate in and I'm in the mood to play a Spidey game.

Invented language?

That's Hungarian? :D
Anyway, I've read up on this and it makes the situation even worse for me. It was a stupid decision to keep it at Hungarian only and no, it doesn't sound special or cool.
The narrator is probably to blame, with it being a real language his weak performance is even more inexcusable.

Been getting into the Tale series lately. It's becoming my favorite after Final Fantasy and Pogeymang.

I hope Scamco has some soul and either localize or make more tales games for the Vita.

Right now my it's my third JRPG series after SMT and Final Fantasy. It's a series where every game has one issue or another, but the battle system is pretty good and the package always delivers. Have you tried Vesperia? IMO it has the best cast in the whole series (though I only played Abyss, Vesperia, Graces, Xillia and Eternia). Symphonia is next in my list.

Four days since I bought my vita, first game impressions:

Gravity Rush: I don't know...I'm early in the game but I thought it was better, a ton of jaggies everywhere.

Don't let the controls defeat you. Just keep playing and do some time trials. It's a game that becomes better and better as you learn how to use your gravity powers. And it's one of my favorite games this year (Gravity Rush + Persona 4 Golden + Tearaway will be my Vita holy Trinity xD)

Uncharted: pretty visuals but the game is boring as hell, I think the Uncharted formula is getting pretty old.

I played this one before 3 but... yeah, the formula is getting old pretty quickly. I hope Uncharted 4 reinvents the wheel. Something more open like Tomb Raider, different / hidden paths... I don't know, but I don't know if I would spend 400 + 60 euros for more of the same.

Gravity Rush is pretty good too, and it looks like you like Japanese games. Toukiden and Danganropa are February releases and both look pretty good. First is a hunting action game developed by Dynasty Warrior developer, the second is a VN/puzzle (like 999 or VLR) hybrid where a teddy bear watches too much Saw films and locked a couple of students in their school xD

Atelier Totori / Mereru are good JRPGs, but they are only in PSN. And TEARAWAY! Give it some love :)

BTW, tomorrow Tearaway's embargo is lifted tomorrow, right? I suppose it would get good reviews, is a candidate for VGX handheld GOTY.

Some gameplay of Spiderman is up. Off-screen, but pretty good quality.

Doesn't look too bad- pretty decent actually. Looks like it has some PSP level polygons and textures though. Wonder how it'll look direct feed.

Graphics look good but I'm worried it looks like the Jak and Daxter collection in terms of framerate..that wasn't even open world footage. Gonna need some more videos but thanks for posting.

Done. Bought the lithograph, but I already have the soundtrack, that came with my original preorder.

The second video has open world footage. Watching on my phone so it's hard to tell, but it didn't seem to look too bad.

What's the pricing like?

Alright first off are you using US or EU PS account for your Vita?
If you're EU, you can pre-order Stick it to the man at a discount for today only IIRC, it'll release in December.

Make sure you get Plus so you can backup your Vita saves, and if you like Platformers, get Tearaway.

crossposting from the cheap ass thread:

Looking for a good deal on a 32mb Vita mem card. Anyone knows about anything in EU/Uk that ships internationally?

Ugh, the game really looks like a PS2 title. Everything in the park (trees and grass) was really shitty. Character models are kinda better but I'd have sacrified some drawing distance or other minor things to make it look like a 7th gen game.

Which means that 0 studios are working on Vita right now. That's even worse.

Japan Studio has a lot of studios, and we know that they are doing Gravity Rush 2 at least (and they are outsourcing Freedom Wars, SS Delta, Destiny of Spirits and Over my Dead Body 2).

Even if there isn't a single internal team developing games for the Vita (which may be true in the West) they can still outsource those projects to other studios and offer some help from XDev or Santa Monica (which has some aid teams too, right?). Still, the future doesn't look especially bright in the Western side xD

It is, though.

I'm talking about the major first party studios, of course. It's not a secret that they don't want to work on the Vita (I think the only two exceptions are Media Molecule and Japan Studios).

Media Molecule and Guerrilla are both major first party studios that, gasp, worked on Vita and PS4 games simultaneously. You don't need to make things up in order to make a point.

This was what I was saying in my first post. But that's too much optimistic for the west. Sony never showed us too much interest on the platform in the west. I don't have a problem with their output in Japan, of course. Gravity Rush and Soul Sacrifice/Freedom Wars both looks great.

Guerrilla promised the game since the launch. It was expected. Media Molecule didn't, but I mentioned them in the previous post you didn't read.

And that's simply not enough. Only Tearaway and a spin off from a major console Franchise aren't going to revitalize the platform.
