This was my initial thought, but this is Nintendo. We probably won't see anything Wii U Zelda related until E3 at the absolute earliest.
Metroid is what I'm hoping for, but Smash is most likely what I'm expecting.

You know, as much as Zelda always takes place millenniums apart from one another, I'd actually love to see them take a serious stab at something with a futuristic spin or flair.

As much as I would like it to be X, I dont think it will, I expect that to be in a ND where Japan and everyone else see it at the same time
I doubt it will be Mario Kart or DKCTF just wouldnt make sense, only if they have a trailer showing off all of what they have for 2014.

Realistic possibilities seem like a smash reveal and footage of other games we already know about.

They've been going back and forth on revealing Zelda U for months now. This would be a great place to show it off, particularly if it's suitably grim, gritty and Skyrim-y.

Nah. Nintendo's on a local multiplayer kick. Your big, epic HD Zelda will be a sequel to Four Swords. And nobody can complain because you can still play it single-player.
