It's not coming out by March, That would be insane. They would have announced a date if they're that close to release.

Winter 2014 is December 2014.
 
Hype deflated as I'm not sure I'll own a PS3 by time it hits in the West.

I'm kinda pissed it takes Japan so long to get into this gen while everyone else is trying to move to next gen already.

I mean I'm extremely happy we are getting new Tales and Persona stuff, but fuck I'd lying if stuff releasing so late in the life cycle doesn't bug the shit out of me. I had the same feelings with PSU being a late gen PS2 game. Granted we got a 360 port, but it essentially was like those HD remix games.

Think PS3 is the right choice. but...

The PS2>PS3 generation/ecosystem isn't the same as PS3>PS4.

A PS4 version would be great, but a lack of it won't stop me from buying the game.
 
So if I were to play P4 would the Vita version be the best way to go?

Gotta hit up the BST thread to see if someone will give me one for a decent price.
 
So I assume the theme has already been discussed? Can't help but think about that "emancipation" part being a major focus on the characters wanting to break away and try to live their own lives, having to deal with the hardships of going from teenager to becoming an adult on your own as a part of growing up.

....or something.

I don't think the difference is going to be as big as you may think. Besides, Persona 4 Golden sold very well on a 'dead' handheld. It could have happened again.

P5 will be one of the flagship titles for Gaikai.
Atlus knowing it would be playable on the ps4 could have put no pressure on em to put it on the ps4.
Pluss thats how they rolled before.
N no reason for them to try to compete wit FFXV that I assume will be out late 2014 on the ps4

Thing is, college in Japan is kinda like grad school in the west, huge focus on classes and studying and not much on the social aspect, unlike in the west. It wouldn't make for an interesting setting, hence why there's so few anime revolving around college students

Yes, Vita version is all additions and no subtractions from the console version. Plus it's graphically the same.
 
Just realized if P3 and P4 came out for the PS2 while the PS3 was out, So we won't see a persona game on the PS4 until the PS5 comes out.


Fuck that.

I guess they were willing to risk what is probably their biggest franchise by releasing it on a system that has always had at best a mediocre future in Japan, but then they realised they were crazy. :P

Yeah something, I'm sure the persona writers will be able to say it much more elegantly than that
and the theme will be repeated and beaten into our heads 8000 times over the course of 100 hours of gameplay and we will love it

It's a cultural thing. Here in the staets High School is fairly rigid, while college is viewed as the time when people come into their own and have some freedom.

It's the other way around in Japan. College is a grind, while High School is the free, exciting time where kids are free to pursue what they want with their youth.

When are the 2014 Winter Olympics?

Both P3 and P4 were 1st announced in March and then released in July. So, if you use that time for main line games, it makes sense for a JP release sooner than later. Of course, it could be a cultural time issue and I could be wrong! but we'll see. Fortunately, time answers all these questions lol but, for it to release in winter 2014 in Japan, it would have to come out in the last week of December and that makes no sense.
 
If Winter means post Dec 21, then this simply must be early next year.
Would make me happy, but they had so little to show. Maybe they are going to start churning out stuff fast now.
 
Holy shit! Console of the forever!

I'm glad I hung onto my PS3...though Winter 2013 in Japan and then by then it may be too late to come over here...

Why exactly would you or anyone else expect a series like Persona to stop being heavily anime influenced? Do you think Atlus is out of their damn mind? If they were willing to move this game back to the PS3 because it's safe, then there's no way in hell they're moving away from what made the series as popular as it is today.

PS4 was under consideration; that is true. It's still under consideration by the way, and I'm pretty sure that's what will happen too eventually. Where the wires got mixed was that some people didn't get the PS3 info, and only the PS4 part, and then later got the PS3 info too. I don't think there have been any other rumours floating around. Just one rumour that it's PS3, another that's it's PS4, and one final one that it's PS3/PS4.

Always Sony exclusive though. That's been a constant.
 
Kind wish there was a ps4 version but this is going to be amazing anyway. Full disclosure though, the first persona announcement I saw was the dancing game and I briefly lost my mind.
