Atlus's Persona event was the best hype-train I road from the start to the sweet end.

The excitement mixed with trepidation leading up to it, and the final moments before it all started were just amazingly brutal. Then, we got some old lady yapping away. Meltdowns started. "ATLUS PLS!" "ATLUS WHAT ARE YOU DOING!?" Was there some meta-thing going on? Were we being trolled? They went on to tease fans along through the whole thing, dragging it out as much as possible. With everyone seeming like they were gonna have a nervous-breakdown at any second.

In the end though, we got:

  1. Adorable Chibi spinoff on 3DS
  2. Ridiculous dance game (I baiscally need to buy a Vita now)
  3. Another Arena game
  4. And most importantly, P5 confirmed for PS3

I loved how the P5 segment was nothing more than basically one minimal and abstract poster that really showed absolutely nothing, but GAF went down anyway.

I swear the lows for this were the lowest and the highs were the highest. Crazier than any other game countdown, Nintendo Direct or Console Launch hype train. That shit was a fun ride.

EDIT:

I apparently can't spell past-tense of ride anymore cause Atlus broke me.

Lol, it was the worst hype train I've ever live. Seeing how the show advanced and Persona 5 was not one of the three announcements teased for today was awful.

However, that sweet 55.555 countdown was awesome.

It started with Igor's wife.

Then it turned into Persona: Preschool.

Then Velvet Room Disco Boogie.

Then a game we already had.

Melted tears began flowing until...

They delivered.

"OMG HYPE PERSONA 5"

"FUCK YOU ATLUS YOU BACKSTABBING FUCKS"

"lol Persona 5 was never going to be on 3DS, love you Atlus"

I'm just really super happy an announcement lived up to the hype for once.
If they had announced P4-2 I might have stabbed myself.

I'm kinda sad I fell asleep before it, I guess I was too scared that it wasn't going to happen. P5 was the best news to wake up to though. <3

The hype train was amazing, the pay-off in some ways better than expected, in others worse. Can't say I care for Arena 2 or that weird dancing game, but I'm definitely looking forward to Persona Q. That's definitely a game I wouldn't have expected to happen.

However, that they've shown so little of Persona 5 is disappointing. We got to know that it exists, but apart of that... a whole lot of nothing.

Its a damn shame SMT gets regulated to 3DS while Persona, the fucking spin off, gets this big huge hype announcement on a console.
I mean, I know why, people like their japanese high-school dating simulators, but c'moooooon.

The amount of people that just blasted games for not being Persona 5 was sort of ridiculous.

Relegated to the largest platform in it's major region? JP games aren't like the West where portable games are second class.

I missed it, but had i been following it i would have probably felt the same. The misdirection was amazing, and so enfuriating at the same time.

It had something for everybody:
- People who love meltdowns
- People who love * genre
- People who wanted a Persona game for their console (except for uhhh 360 I guess)
- People who wanted P5

I tried staying up but, fell asleep around 4. I woke up with the thread at whatever page it was left on and just read through it page by page without knowing the announcements, heh. Great stuff. I involuntarily did the Banderas gesture when I scrolled to the first P5 image. Though it was probably closer to the Shu version.

People who handle disappointment, even temporary disappointment, like children are horrible. I'm disgusted. What is wrong with you people?

I saw Persona: Q first and started freaking out then realized they also released 5. Can only imagined how trolled people watching live felt.

It was the best show that Atlus anowledges its fandom and knows them well. They basically trolled the fuck up of us, which was glorious. Few companies would troll so hard their fandom, and they normally do it with a good excuse (some fan conference or April's fools, not in middle of its biggest announcement in years and with actual, real games).

It would have been a gigantic meltdown without Persona 5 though (they even managed to make me happy of the announcement instead of complaining about it being just a teaser).

Shit was an emotional roller coaster ride, after letting their fans hold off in a long five year wait, the only way to finally come out with a bang is to push their buttons and troll the shit out of em, mystery sites, countdowns, strange teasers, old women, 3DS game,Dance game...they really went all out with this, no E3 nor console reveal will ever come close to what Atlus just put me through.

Fuck that, I would have been raging so hard the second that chibi game was announced. It was awesome after the fact but that is because I knew P5 was coming.

GAF should have its own anime drama. There were tears, laugher, more tears, then yelling.

The shit I said in that chat channel, OMG, I blame sleep deprivation. I said something along the lines of Fukushima gonna kill us all before P5 gets released....... forgive me. Oh the meltdowns were PJSaltx10 BibleThumpx10. It was pretty nutty.

5 years ain't nothing compared to the 10 years to finally get SMT IV. Good thing SMT IV was brilliant and destroyed every SMT and Sub-Series I've played.
