Interesting question: with the potential of hype train niconico events like this Persona event is there still any point in E3? You can create more hype and interest for far less money.

Not sure you can compare share numbers of people that follow E3 and events like this. E3 (or TGS) still can have much more impact, no? Like getting new people interested in a game.
Although Persona event was quite entertaining, I must admit, and meltdowns, those glorious meltdowns. (><)

I missed it and only saw that Persona 5 was announced, so I didn't understand the tales of intense rage. Honestly the 3DS game looks like a lot of fun.

Well the were lots of cute trolling there, Atlus seems really good at toying with fans. One probably had to see all event to understand share amount of desperation at some point.
I had a lot of fun watching the livestream. When the old lady appeared saying "listen to the cheering of the crowds below" and then showing the flyer with all the "Confidential" written on it I was smirking. Meanwhile in the thread someone had posted the first image of Persona Q on 3DS. Eventually its trailer was shown and my heart sank a little. "After all that hype this is all they got?" Then Ryouga tweeted about P4D and I realized they'd be showing multiple games during the event.
Probably the hardest I've laughed at a stream in a loooooong time. So entertaining.
The fact that we got 4 great looking games out of it didn't hurt too. I think I'm probably the only one in the thread not angry at all of the spinoffs.
