Might be best to get it on a USB pen so that if PSN is getting hammered you are already prepared.

Whats the score with installing the update? Turn on the PS4 first and go through all the introduction stuff like signing into PSN and THEN installing it?

The official site just says make sure your PS4 is off, plug in your USB and hold the power button for 7 seconds.

Guess that's the way you update the PS4 this time. Do the update as it states then once it's booted up you can sign in and start using it.

It's been a stressful past few days.

Amazon dispatched it hours ago and claim that DPD have it - but their own tracking says they're still waiting. Worried it's been lost or stolen or something, nothing ever goes smoothly with me

Why can't they just show they have it

Because it's just sitting in a lorry at Amazon's distribution centre, and won't get scanned by DPD until it reaches the hub later tonight.
