Did... did you list Misty? lmao...
Just randomly picked a female nintendo character that doesn't resembles any other Nintendo character in the roster, so yes her look is unique.
The average person is going to think Rosalina is a slight variation on Peach if not the same character. She would make a decent alt costume.
I'd hate for those characters to be cut.
I would argue her orginal role does not matter much. She again to coin term, Shadow the hedgehog-ed her way into shit. She got special privileges, she got above peach privileges. Not saying her spot is guaranteed, however there is possibility someone in the Mario division, might be pushing for her in smash. Since they are the ones who gets to the end game decision.
I would not say it would be 100% bowser Jr. While I love him to death, think he is adorable. There is one other character I feel is in the running, that is now the main villain of a "franchise", of a popular nintendo character. And had that game represented stage wise in the last smash bros.
Who is he? I'll give you a hint
Just saiyin.
Adding Lucina to smash is a failure of the game design.
IT BEGINS.
Don't you dare cut Lucas!

Well the thread's discussion has gone to places that haven't really been discussed till now, and most of the things are just downright silly.I thought this thread wasn't supposed to go to hell until the weekend?

Waluigi today is almost like Luigi in the 90sstill teasing you MannyToons for that statement
There is nothing new in the daily pic despite there being a new stage hazardI'm guessing everyone else seen it through their crystal ball, I should get one
Rosalina has similarities in her appearance to Peach (which is true)but some crazy people are saying that is a reason Rosalina should NOT be a playable character in Smash
Bruce Wayne and Clark Kent looking similar is the equivalency of the above and a counterargument to what is in the spoilerlolwut
Silhouettes are important for character choiceslawl
Any potential newcomer will just be a clone of an existing characterthank you Mr. Sakurai for your insight

Whats with Misty obsession? Duck hunt dog is A-ok but Misty is out of this world?
I hope there's only 35 characters in SSB4.

I think they definitely should be alts. Except for Luigi, who has earned his place.
Let's not forget:
Apparently one has to "earn" their place despite being unique characters.
Might as well complain Ike should be Marth's alt.
Don't remember saying that.
If it means having them both in the game and having room for another unique character, he would make a great alt. I agree.

It's ridiculous to think that a character should be an alternate costume just because they look sort of similar to someone else. Wolf is a bad guy who fights with his claws. Making him a Fox costume would be absolutely nonsensical.

Why on earth should Wolf of all people be cut?!
Let me say this again. Alternate costumes should be what they're called; alternate costumes and not completely different characters who look similar. As long as the announcer guy can say "and the winner is X" without changing the character's name alternate costumes works. But if you pick Ness and suddenly transform into Lucas it's just wrong.
Now, obviously the female and male Wii Fit Trainers are different people, but that only works because the characters is called "Wii Fit Trainer", if the character had the name Thelma or whatever I doubt we would see the guy.
And, in their source game, they both serve the exact same purpose as on-screen fitness guides. You can even choose which trainer you want. For all intents and purposes, they're the same character. The same is true of the male and female Villager. Now, obviously the female and male Wii Fit Trainers are different people, but that only works because the characters is called "Wii Fit Trainer", if the character had the name Thelma or whatever I doubt we would see the guy.

If you did have different character alts, I don't imagine it would be too hard to change the announcer's name for them when you changed between them. That seems an odd reason to object.
Wolf is more deserving and unique than Falco, that's for sure.
Wolf is in no way more deserving than Falco. I've argued this many times in the past, but Star Fox is, at its core, about a team of characters. Representing Fox's teammates with a character (who are present in every level of a normal Star Fox game and are a big part of what makes Star Fox what it is) is more important that representing a semi-recurring squad of minibosses.Wolf is more deserving and unique than Falco, that's for sure.
I'd argue that Wolf has firmly cemented himself as a go-to rival. It wasn't the case before, but they seem to be pushing it since Assault.Wolf is in no way more deserving than Falco. I agree. That's why I don't want to see stuff like Lucina as a Marth alt. A character getting in should be more special than that, plus I'm sure fans of a character might be a bit peeved if they get in as an alt and don't really represent what that character can do or what makes them unique.

Yeah, but if you put Lucina in with her mask and costume... she'd still be "Marth!"

yes. yes for king boo as playable character! another villain for the heroes to fight. great way to introduce pac man too. just imagine...pac man and luigi working together
although i don't know how his moveset could work. and he doesn't stand on ground, he floats. but i guess they can just make him slightly hover over land, and if there's no land he falls and dies. you know i'm sure they can even think of a moveset for him. like they did with many other characters that didn't seem possible at first
LawdFox clone
We were talking about character design in general, specifically rosa and peach, then you jumped in the conversation not knowing what in the hell you were talking about. Which was indeed character designs, in general. And proceeded to tell me that my comparison was wrong, even though you had not and still have not grasped what was being talked about. That is irrelevant because we were talking about 2 characters looking too much alike in a fighting game. Your examples has no merit because it's not even the same situation. Not even close.
Seriously, who the fuck cares whether Bruce and Clark look alike in their non-super hero attire? It really has no meaning to what we're actually talking about in the god damned first place.
Uh...what? Is Luigi a Mario clone too in your view?

And that still doesn't change what I said. The games are still about the core team: Star Fox.I'd argue that Wolf has firmly cemented himself as a go-to rival. It wasn't the case before, but they seem to be pushing it since Assault.
