Games you remember, names you don't

I've posted this in these kinds of threads in multiple places, but have never had any luck. Pretty sure there's slim to no chance I'll ever find the game.

It was a game for Windows 3.xx back in the day that I downloaded in the old "Games" channel on AOL, circa 1995. Back when they had troves of shitty shareware and freeware games.

These kinds of games: http://www.download-central.ws/Win16/Games/A/

Anyway, the game was a sort of Archon clone, except without the real time shooting part. It was a chess/checkers-style playing board, but I think its shape was a hexagon. You had different pieces that were mythological creatures (Djinn, Phoenix, Griffin, etc). You would move the pieces around the board (turn-based) until you moved to attack the opponent's piece. For attacks, it was sort of a rock/paper/scissors style attack, with some randomness as to who would win the battle. Each piece had HPs and could survive multiple battles if they were strong enough. You win by killing all of the opponent's pieces.

That's about all I can remember.

I have one. Snes or nes game where you play as Moses maybe.. He was a guy with a white gown type thing on. All I can remember is you can pick up sheep, and the music is memorable.

I had no idea there was such a thread. GAF never ceases to amaze me.

I've been trying to remember the name of a fighting game for the Genesis for ages now. I can just remember one of the characters being a red long-haired (not ginger, really red) "beasty" human (kinda like Blanka). One of the fighting scenarios was the back of a moving train, as far as I can remember. I can't say if it was some generic Street Fighter skinned rip-off or an original production.

I remember playing this game through nights with my older brother when I was a kid, together with Side Pocket, haha.

Sounds kinda like Deadly Moves.

I remember playing this game at my uncle's PC in which you were a cat (yes, a cat) and there was this evil broom that chased you. The point was to walk on a rug so the broom got mad about it and obsessed with cleaning it...The longer you walked on it, the longer the broom would take to hit you...

There was this PS1 era game where you played as a tank (you could also be a jeep) and you were shooting your way through a desert. If you went into this muddy water and stayed there for too long you died.

There was also a game where you were a scuba diver trying to find sunken treasure in puerto rico. You rode one of those underwater vehicles and had a normal gun and a net gun as weapons. The net gun would catch sharks and send them to the surface.

The last game was this PC game for kids. There was a television or something where these sausages started singing in a frying pan and spontaneously exploding.

There was this really fun game on PS One that I had on some demo disc it was basically like a "tag, you're it!" type game and you had these powers, like you could draw them towards you or away and it was kinda fun used to play it with a friend alot. Don't remember the name at all. The stages were built so you both saw the character with one camera and it was just one room with stuff to climb on and this sanctuary place in the middle of the level that did something.

Sounds like Treasures of the Deep

During my childhood I played a game on the DOS operating system. It involves your character, a government agent of some sort, dressed in a blue suit and with the head of a potato, to go through the streets of some neighborhood and shoot criminals and other thugs. You were able to play alongside another player and rack up as many kills as you could. The game was in an overview perspective.

Cyberdogs or C-Dogs?

My brain wants to say Poy Poy or Blast Chamber, but I don't think either of those are right.

I played this RPG on the Sega Genesis back in the day and I have wanted to find out what it is for the longest time, but I can't ever find it. ):

The most I remember about it is that your party followed you while you moved around. It wasn't Phantasy Star (often a suggestion when I've tried to ask people in the past), because the sprite work wasn't as good.

It had an art design where the wizards had pointy hats and all that classic fare. I can't remember anything else really. ):

Maybe Sorcerer's Kingdom?

Iv had a game on my mind which i played in my childhood on an Amiga 500, and i'm not expecting anyone to know what it is, but who knows, maybe someone does.

It was a top down view co-op game, kind of like how The Binding Of Issac plays, each section within a level was a square space but instead of having random rooms the exit to each section was always up. You either had to kill the enemies within the room, or you did something else which i cant remember, but what i do remember is that it was co-op and you could choose from a selection of characters, the ones i remember some blob thing, and a pencil shaped character. The game always crashed, but it didn't stop me and my friend from playing it though, been trying to remember this game for months now, still no luck with it.

Check out Econ's Arena.

Looking for a game where you played as a blonde guy in like a grey/silver tank top I think. You traversed the world on an overworld map that featured castles etc. Some of the enemies were eyeballs with a red or green iris and you could unlocked super jump and laser shooting powers. I have a feeling it was a weirdish name.

EDIT: It was a 2D side scroller

Not something I personally recognise, but it's worth posting release year and platform (or closest guesses) for people to work with.

I have no idea about either, I played it on a PC at an after school club which had a multipack of about 50 games including DOOM and Worms, this was around 2002ish but they weren't new games. The graphics were 16 bit I think though.

Ok this one is obscure enough

PS1 game, I think you are a woman driving a red vehicle that hovers. It's pretty dark and I think there was a cutscene at the start where someone drinks a soda and dies/transforms into some sort of zombie.

It was a survival(?) FPS (more like first person vehicle shooter) and you shot spiders/zombies. Again, pretty dark post-apocalyptic game, a bit graphical.

Got it 2nd hand in a small market long ago

Red vehicle makes me want to say Ghost in the Shell?

Isn't that in third person?

That's the PS2 game (GitS: Stand Alone Complex), developed by Cavia <3. The PSone game is a FPS. PSP game is also a FPS.

It wasn't Sword of Vermillion was it? The combat in that game was a side scroller.

Alternatively possibly Ys?

Edit: Hmm....could be Super Hydlide.
I don't think it's any of those. );

edit; Didn't see this originally...
Maybe Sorcerer's Kingdom?

Nope.

Maybe I'm remembering wrong, but I swear it had more of a Dragon Warrior SNES style.

Great topic!

So here's mine: random PS2 game. Bought it for 5€ back in the day, played for a few minutes and then I... somehow lost it. Release date was probably around 2003, not sure though.

I guess it was supposed to be a stealth game, spy theme. You are a blonde woman (she's also on the cover), who is recalled from retirement... again not sure about that retirement bit. Third-person camera. And overall it felt pretty shitty, I didn't get past the tutorial. But it's been so many years that it could actually be decent, I'm not sure lol. I think the name was pretty generic too.

Thanks.

There is one PS1 game that I don't remember much about, but I remember that it was fun.

What I remember of the game is that the stages are selected from a map thing, and each boss is in one mini game. One was a volley ball boss.

Can't seem to remember anything else, I don't even recall how the main characters looked like lol.

Rogue ops? Blonde, on the cover, seem pretty shitty and a generic name! (never played the title myself)

I have a request though it'll probably go unanswered.

It's a PC games and I believe it's based on E.R. if it's not it is a hospital game.
It's older released sometime more than likely in the early 90's. If I can compare it to anything it was a hospital game kinda sorta similar to life and death.

Main thing I remember is that the first patient is a woman under a green blanket.
You can examine her and keep giving her shots and what not but doing that will result in her dying.

Okay I've actually got one, don't think I've ever asked it in here before.

It was a Macintosh game in the early 90's, probably came with the computer, you drove around a tank and shot shit, everything was colorful simple geometric shapes on a black background, and I think you could switch between perspectives (1st, 3rd, overhead).

When I first heard about Geometry Wars on the current gen I thought they must be related but I don't think they are past the name "Geometry Wars" being similar to the concept of the game I'm trying to think of.

Any help?

This is a game for the zx spectrum, your flying around amongst dinosaurs with a jetpack sidescroller. (I think) can't remember much really, but it had a really strange name.

LOL, that's it. :D Thanks. I guess I might pick it up someday if I find it for really cheap again, just for the "nostalgia". Edge: 2/10, 'nuff said.

EDIT: Just noticed that the games Wikipedia entry is only in English and my native Finnish. What a strange "coincidence". Was Rogue Ops popular around here? I don't think so.

One sticks in my brain that I can't seem to remember. It wasn't very good, but I'd still like to know the game

Early PSX game. 2D side scroller. You were a character that was a rock-and-roll star that killed things with his guitar. For some reason I remember the undead being the main bad guys, at least the early levels

Don't suppose it was Mr. Bones for Saturn? 2D sidescroller with plenty of undead (and the main character a skeleton) that plays the electric guitar during some sort of mini-game thing? The 2D levels don't look to use the guitar from what I saw.

Here's the guitar playing portion: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=zg90vG2lXBI#t=1242

Johnny Bazookatone?

I have yet to find anyone that can remember this arcade game and I've been dying to know the name of it. I played it as a kid and cannot for the life remember what it's called.

It was a side-scroller arcade game where you could play with 1 or 2 players. Your weapon was a harpoon gun and when you died, the characters would say "pain in the."

Anyone have an idea of what it might be called?

I would assume Spectre: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=213pS0nPSX0#t=276

The only harpoon gun games that come to mind are Pang but that's not a side scroller, and Sly Spy, but the gun is only in one level afaik.

I remember a very old game I used to play on those Internet rental places. It seemed to be a mod of Doom (Not sure) but starring Santa Claus riding on his sled. You could fly around and shoot at the enemies, which I believe were raindeers (Could be wrong on this one).

It is NOT "Santa Slaughter". The one I played had Doom-style graphics (Pseudo 3-D environments, sprite enemies). It had blood.
