"New look" does kind of exclude things we haven't seen like Zelda. If you want to play this game though I guess that "Additional exclusives to be revealed shortly." sentence leaves still room for a miracle.
Better prepare for the Cranky Kong reveal trailer though.

My dad works at Nintendo so this is true. Reggie will bring out a red button and press it, and wiiUs will begin coming out of your screens and flood the world. He'll have another to blow up all xbox1s and ps4s, as Nintendo has a secret chip of theirs in the systems

Guessing it will be another in a series of an already established Nintendo property. As much as I enjoy Nintendo's first party games, I wish they would stray away from the whole "We made a new console so we are making a new Mario Kart, Zelda, Donkey Kong, etc." Surprise us!

Yeah, a Cranky Kong reveal would make sense. It's most probably Tropical Freeze.

new look at an upcoming game pretty much guarantees donkey kong, or at least any known game. donkey kong is coming out the soonest though, so it makes sense to push that now. i'd think that mario kart and smash bros. would also be likely candidates, but the stage seems like a good time for a small surprise and the start of a push for the game.

Zelda is the only game that would legitimately excite people IMO, but find that highly unlikely. Still...given the state of Nintendo, it WOULD make sense for them to start to kick into panic mode...they need *something* for gamers to get excited about for their console. A graphically-impressive Zelda trailer could at least give *some* traction.

Well, Reggie was just on gt tv to have a new look at DK. In that same episode, he said he might be making an appearance at the VGAs, and that he might have something special to show. It doesnt seem to me that this will be DK. Id bet that we'll see more DK, and the 4th playable character(high chance its cranky kong) in a Nintendo direct, leading up to DKs release.
It obviously has to be a game we know about, since its a new look. So bayo 2, ssb, mk, X, are all possibilities.

OK, if it is only announced games then it narrows it down to DKC or Smash. (leaning towards DKC due to the leak)
Let's be realistic people, it won't be X or Bayonetta 2. Do those games cater to the hardcore? Yes, but this is the VGA's/VGX, if Nintendo has one big gun to hype people up about why the heck would they choose Bayonetta 2 or X which both have niche appeal, when they can choose a more broad game like Smash to try and draw in hardcore gamers? It'd simply be a huge waste of a good opportunity, although if they really do just show up to unveil another DKC trailer then consider the opportunity wasted.

I can totally see Nintendo showing something like a new DKC trailer. Which would be funny since this isn't really the fanbase for that type of game.

I think I remember someone on GAF talking about it. Anyway, looking at the VGX list, here's the updates:
The word in the PR mail also seems to imply that Nintendo will be giving us new footage of something we already know. Seems to me that the show this year doesn't have much to announce.
