pretty sure when your brother uses the 16gb card the first time it will ask if he wants to format the card so he can use it since it's being used by another account.
Thanks for the reply. Looking forward to exposing him to Plus and playing Mortal Kombat on the go.

Cool, interested to hear more about it, mostly if there's even a little bit of motion blur compared to the OLED.

One of the first things I noticed was that the home screen pages move slightly differently, not sluggish but not not 100% smooth like the OLED. Does this new screen have a lower refresh rate I guess?

Btw, does the plastic front panel frame feel cheap ala the PSP revisions? The current Vita does have a pretty good front panel that doesn't feel cheap.

Feels completely similar to the glossy front of the 1000, just a little bit curved on the edges. That's one thing I like about this, a little more concave and comfortable.

Did they use an oleophobic coating? I slapped a screen protector on it before even turning it on so I haven't been able to tell, but very awesome if so. Completely agree about the contours, the extra matte texture of the back makes it really easy to grip too.
I don't know what coating they used on the 1000, but this screen attracts zero smudges or oil. I wish I had played Tearaway on this now, since my old screen was so smudgy.

Would some of you mind posting what your favorite PS1 classics are and what your favorite Vita PSN games are (indie games I guess you would classify them as).

I also am interested in what PSP games you would consider are the best to pick up. I like everything but sports games.

I constantly see these games on the PS store while browsing with my Vita. I can't trust the user reviews because I've honestly never seen a game rated below 3.5-4 stars (seriously, what is up with that?). I never owned a PS1 or a PSP and don't follow the Vita indie scene much.

Do you like Zelda? Buy and play Alundra. Please. My favorite game ever.

ahhh!! R+C nexus port - yay.

insomniac said they wouldnt bring another R+C game to vita unless it carries the quality the series is known for - so i have high hopes.

Just finished Killzone Mercenary - some impressions:

- I don't need to talk about how great the game looks, everyone's across that I'm sure. Contrary to what I've read elsewhere, I was very happy with the performance of the game. I didn't notice any chugging (although I'm definitely not a Framerate Nazi).

- I thought the gunplay was excellent. That was the real draw for me. The sound design helped this a lot too: guns sounded great and the game did an excellent job of making you feel like a badass: when I found out you can run at an enemy, slide at him and knife him in the plums I was sold!

- The 'feel like a badass' thing probably brings on one of my only negatives: it's a fairly easy game. I'm not a fps guy and I breezed through the campaign once I got the bit between my teeth. Plenty of reasons to replay it though... And multiplayer, obviously.

- Some people have said the campaign is too short. Well I think it fits with the vita's pick up and play ethos perfectly. I don't know how many hours it took me but it felt satisfying to me.

- They definitely could've tweeked the save game system. Accessing the arms dealer triggers a checkpoint but if you close the game completely (say you want to play something else), you're restarted from the beginning of the level. That shit me to tears on more than one occasion.

Anyway. Loved it. Like I said, I don't play fps' and I only picked this up because it's a keystone title for a platform I love. Couldn't recommend it more.

great to hear - i'm about to dive in once i finish Tearaway

edit: whoops dbl post >_<

Not gravity rush related, but now that I am half way done with Mutant Blobs Attack I can firmly say FUCK Tilt-A-Blob levels. Gave up after the first level and I wont even try the others.

No fun, all rage.

Huh -- I thought they were pretty easy and they were one of my favorite parts of the game, especially since they broke up the normal levels. :)

Sorry you had a bad experience.

So I'm planning on playing through the entire FF series on my Vita (or at least what I can, up to X). Gonna be my first time playing through the games, so that'll be fun!

Only concern I have is with FFV and FFVI. I've heard some pretty scary things about the load times on these, are they really as bad as people make them out to be? I don't really mind load times but if they're long and frequent they will almost certainly get on my nerves.

As an aside, how is the PS3 remote play for PS1 games on Vita over a private network, as far as lag and image quality goes? Only way I'm gonna play FFV on mine... and Crash and Spyro :(

I've never tried remote play for PS1 classics, but if you have a good network set up, it works pretty good for PS3 games, so I bet PS1 classics should be fine.

That said, the load times suck for the PSOne Final Fantasy games.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N3rKcij8Ds0

Sure, it's only 5-7 seconds. But when you figure out all the random encounters, it gets real old, real fast, especially when you compare it to the days of old playing on a cart (or the GBA versions).

It's bad enough that I was trying to avoid battles in Chrono Trigger and ended up ridiculously underleveled.

Hopefully, if you really want to play those, you can stomach it.

On the US PSN, xenogears, front mission 3, vagrant story, chrono cross
Atlus is also having a decent sale on most of their PSP games right now too, I recommend growlanser and persona 3 portable at $10 a pop

Y'know, I've never played Xenogears -- I never ponied up the money for it when it came out and I've never been a fan of mechs, so I've never picked it up to playthrough after the fact. I've thought about it though... why do you like it so much?

(1) What difficulty did you play on?
(2)I think the save system worked fine. Missions aren't that long, play a mission and finish it.

Do you like Zelda? Buy and play Alundra. Please. My favorite game ever.

It's Zelda like, but a lot more challenging.
Some of those platforming jumps... just... ugh.

But it was solid. I enjoyed it when I played it on my Vita back in January with Toma's "Let's Play".

Yo I love me some R&C.

Did I miss it when the other R&C game came out on vita or did that not happen yet?

Full Frontal Assault?
Yeah, it's out.
And it's not good.

ahhh!! R+C nexus port - yay.

insomniac said they wouldnt bring another R+C game to vita unless it carries the quality the series is known for - so i have high hopes.

As far as I'm concerned, the R&C games haven't been up to snuff since the PS2 trilogy.
Someone I know just played through Nexus and they summed it up with "It's a Ratchet and Clank game." I don't expect much.

PSN: Guacamelee, Mutant Blobs Attack, Super Stardust Delta, Sine Mora, Escape Vektor, Kung Fu Rabbit, Urban Trial Freestyle, Flying Hamster HD, Stealth Inc., Stick it to the Man, Spelunky, Lone Survivor, EDF 2017 Portable (maybe more that are not currently on my card).
PSP: Dracula X Chronicles, Prinny, Darkstalkers: Chaos Tower, Street Fighter Alpha 3: Max, Ultimate Ghouls N' Ghosts, Mega Man Maverick Hunter X, Strikers 1945 Plus, Cho Aniki Zero, The Red Star, MGS:Peace Walker, Final Fantasy IV Complete, Dissidia 012; I have a ton of Atlus RPGs that I would probably recommend but haven't played yet: P3P, Crimson Gem Saga, Gungnir, Hexyz Force, Knights in the Nightmare, Yggdra Union, P3P; also Corpse Party 1 & 2 and Gurumin.
PSOne: FF7, FF8, FF9, Castlevania:SotN (this is an unlockable in Dracula X Chronicles for PSP), Klonoa, Tomba, Alundra.

But tools of destruction, and a crack in time were amazing games. I even loved quest for booty and it's reliance more on platforming mechanics than combat. They were some of my favorite playstation games this generation.

1) Normal

I'll still use Magusar and Carnatux anyday.
By the way, isn't there a new companion that looks like Carnatux the other day? A woman sorcerer whom the right is covered in gold, if I remembered it right.

While I enjoy Killzone it does not surprise me it did not make the list. There were a lot of good handheld games this year.

No doubt there were but I'm not sure all of them were as revolutionary or as impressive as Killzone Mercenaries for a handheld. Really should have launched with bot mode too though. Even still.

But tools of destruction, and a crack in time were amazing games. I even loved quest for booty and it's reliance more on platforming mechanics than combat. They were some of my favorite playstation games this generation.

We'll have to disagree. They lost the charm of the PS2 versions. QFB was especially bad... I felt ripped off with that one. A Crack in Time was the closest thing, but... it just didn't have that magic.

I thought maybe it was nostalgia that made me like the PS2 ones better, but I still think they hold up phenomenally and I like them more than any native PS3 R&C game. When I went back and put in the R&C HD collection and played the original, I took the time and loved getting the platinum (other than the stupid trophy for bolts).

I plan on doing the same with Going Commando and Up Your Arsenal someday, as I remember loving them even more than the original.

VGX Nominations:

Killzone Mercenaries doesn't make the cut.

Take Pokemon X/Y and Animal Crossing off that list...
I know they're all the rage, but they do NOTHING for me. I wouldn't play them if they were given to me for free. :P

No I won't. Not unless it's a DLC expansion. :P

1) Normal
2) Obviously, I disagree. I think it's checkpoint system is fine but the save game system goes against the vita's 'chop and change, pick up and play' ethos.

(1) That'd be why. Veteran isn't CoD level of challenge, but it's definitely challenging, especially if you end up doing the precision contracts on Veteran. It's so frustrating to know you're going to run out of time cause you weren't good enough and have to restart.
(2) Considering most of the missions can be completed in <20 minutes, I do not see the need to say "oh, I was 50% done with that mission, I want to quit and go play Spelunky..." -- I find that ridiculous. I say focus and finish what you start. :P

Hm, watching that video the battle load times don't seem too bad. It doesn't look like something that would render the game unplayable to me, at least. Maybe I just have the added benefit of not knowing what it's like without load times, haha. I think I'll be able to deal with that fine.

As an aside, I really wish SE would have the sense not to price their gimped SNES ports at their premium PS1 Classic price. :/

I was still a pretty big Final Fantasy VI fan back in 2003 or so when I last tried to play it... I managed to get to Edgar's castle (just outside) and realized with how I play that game, that it would never work for me with those load times (on more than one occasion, I had grinded out the battles to ensure EVERY party member knew EVERY spell...).
I think it's actually worse in Chrono Trigger, because there's no fade in or fade out, since the enemies are on the screen... you bump them and then the game freezes for 6+ seconds before you can enter battle and issue commands. I find it completely unacceptable... it almost makes me wish Square had released a PSP "Final Fantasy VI: Complete" or whatever. :\

LOL, doesn't your every post relating to the game contain that complaint?

But it's not going to be a DLC or expansion pack from all the things I've seen so far.

No more complaining about this, please. You always have a choice to wait for Soul Sacrifice 2. Which will not be a DLC. :P

Yes, because from all I've seen regarding the game, the amount of recycled/tweaked content seems very large compared to the amount of new content that's been discussed.
Maybe I'm wrong and new details will come to light which will make me reconsider, but as it stands, I think they're taking advantage of the situation and handling it poorly.

But normally, I reply to Cyborg009 about it, since we spent an insane amount of time playing the game together... he seems okay with it, so I like to remind him that I won't be sacrificing at his side unless it's released as an expansion. :P

Is SS Delta Native Res? The shot a few posts above me looks a lot better than vanillia SS. Or is it just a bullshot?

Speculation is that it's native res, but we don't know for sure.

:/ At least can hope she will have an interesting backstory. Like her parents took away her ipad which is why she turned to a life of the dark arts.

Haha the Grimm design are really weird when compared to the other factions.

I'll still use Magusar and Carnatux anyday.
By the way, isn't there a new companion that looks like Carnatux the other day? A woman sorcerer whom the right is covered in gold, if I remembered it right.

Carnatux had the best story in the game. And yes that was his sister I think.

Everyone knows that the best single-player companion in Soul Sacrifice is no companion.

Best hunting game experience is bringing someone named Daiba Canon along.

Bling bling~
For a fat mat, he sure does have a sexy sister. There wouldn't be onii-chan~ for this one that's for sure.
Carnatux had the best story in the game. And yes that was his sister I think.
I wouldn't said the best, I jus stuck with him because he had hgihest affinity alongside with Magusar :p
Well to be fair, he set of offering is decent even though most of them doesn't have any element affinities. But his morph offering sometimes proved to be useful against running enemies like Centaur, as long as you don't in front of him that is.

It always pump adrenaline fast, but get hit by fucking goblins in the back when you have destroyed all of the archfiend cursed part or you can't sacrifice enemies due the archfiends keep chasing you with charge attack isn't exactly fun.

So I played the BIT.TRIP Runner 2 demo which was at Gamestop for some reason and it made me hyped again. I am still annoyed by how long it's taking, but I'm hyped again. It's native res AND 60fps, both of which I was worried about, so yeah.

Is SS Delta Native Res? The shot a few posts above me looks a lot better than vanillia SS. Or is it just a bullshot?

Probably bullshots. The trailer looked sub-native.

True AI does suck. But we did play online together..was I not good enough for you?
Or was it corrosivefrost? :P

Which sorcerer you think had the best story?

Game isnt even out yet. Let alone the demo, so cant really reply to that.

Demo next week.

Demo next week.

Exactly reason being why the statement still stands.

On the 12th if that chick is in the demo will go and record footage.

Well, I have had my Vita for two weeks and I have to say the OLED screen is just damn amazing, even if there's some blotchy spots during loading screens. I wish the start button wasn't so hard to push, and the proprietary cards/charger port is something I wish Sony would get rid of, but overall I still can't get over how pretty the screen is and how
useful it will be with a PS4 (and my dream that I can play PS3 games via Gaikai to the Vita..)

Persona 4 Golden was really awesome, finished it in 78 hours, putting second playthrough on hold for now but damn I love how I can get way more money per battle, as money was tight in the first playthrough and trying, then giving up Margaret's social link. I still prefer P3's story, but I understand why P4 is much more popular.

I bought Killzone Mercenary despite never playing a Killzone and my dislike towards the Call of Duty-style games, but it is surprisingly quite fun. So, there will be an update to play against the CPU in multiplayer? How will that work, I've never played fps games so is it you versus 4 CPUs or you and three CPUs versus 4 CPUs? I like multiplayer, but sometimes I come across guys who are just so OP, I get killed right after respawning.

I have some PSP games on : Valkyria Chronicles 2(horrible story/characters, but awesome customization and gameplay), Corpse Party: BoS (still need to buy the first but $20 is a bit steep), Persona 3 Portable, Jeanne D'Arc (amazingly underrated gem).

Can't wait for the LE edition Danganronpa to get released, and hopefully SDR 2! Glad I took the Vita plunge :)

Just bought a vita for 199.99 from amazon.ca, comes with a case, 8gb card, hot shots and cod.
Was gonna sell cod, as that ain't my jam, and also have playstation plus, but was wondering if there were any games I should pick up besides the IGC? P4G I've heard is amazing, but I'm not a huge jrpg kinda guy either.

eeeeeh nervous for my first gaf post....hopefully one of many

Welcome. For non-plus games. There are so many, but here are a few to get you started:

Tearaway
Killzone Mercenary
Rayman Origins
Rayman Legends
LBP Vita
DJMax Technika Tune (expensive but amazing. Maybe wait for a sale.)
Dokuro
Flower
Frobisher Says (free)
Guacamelee
Hotline Miami
Jacob Jones and the Bigfoot Mystery (very cheap Layton-esque game with great production values)
Kung Fu Rabbit
Lumines Electronic Symphony (can be bought cheap physically if you're into that)
NFS MW
Quell Momento
Sine Mora
Sound Shapes
Spelunky
Super Stardust Delta

etc.

i guess im going slowly through the game, but tearaway is feeling like a good length. I dont get why it got crap for being 7ish hrs long... Maybe its because im not powerhousing through and taking each section a day at a time...i will say i dont think i could handle the game being much longer than it is with the simplicity and ease provided.

Ive got my gripes, and am planning on holding them in till i finish, but aside from then the game is just so damn adorable.

Im shocked at the speed some of yall go through games. Im happy to get 30-60 min in gamingwise on a weekday, but damn some of you crush games in what feels like everyother day.

Valkyria Chronicles 2(horrible story/characters, but awesome customization and gameplay)

Don't worry, Valkyria Chronicles 3 has the Falcon of GalliaFast Pig of Gallia - Alfons Auclaire.

The best Valkyria Chronicles character IMO.

You think ATLUS would front the bill for localizing a vita compilation of all three games? (of course I would completely ignore VC2 because if I have to listen to that red-headed bastards laugh one more time I will go insane.

Exciting to see so many people getting vitas =D

I was supposedly going to be playing a lot of P4G but booted up Hotline Miami instead and ended up playing thirteen chapters in a row lol... (currently stuck at
the police station
, any one have tips for that level?)

Playing that much actually made my wrists very sore, which is surprising because I played for hours at a time when I was beating Tearaway and Gravity Rush and had no problems with hand cramps etc.Not sure if its because I hold the vita differently when playing Hotline Miami compared to other games. Deliberating whether to buy a grip now or not, any aussie Vitabros here know where you can find them? Had a look at the local EBgames and JB stores but no dice (not surprising, considering they barely allocate any shelf space for Vita anymore T_T )

Btw, saw that Aksys has Sweet Fuse for sale at $20, has anyone played this?

That's funny: hotline Miami is the game that forced me to get a grip. I played it for two hours on a plane and was left with a claw for a left hand!

I live in Brisbane and checked everywhere for grips to no avail. I ordered one from eBay mate... Cheap as chips and does the job.

I just got my Vita after an impulse buy on a online black friday deal and I have to say...the Vita is one nice looking system. I really mean it, the screen is gorgeous, the build quality seems rock solid, buttons and d pad feel better than the PSP, and it has a bunch of nifty features like the rear touch pad and touch screen. I keep picking it up just to look at how nice it is. lol. (kind of weird, I know but I just can't help it). Totally excited to play some games once my memory card comes tomorrow!

I don't put hope in ATLUS as much as others do, considering that they dropped Super Robot Wars OG and Endless Frontier. So I have a hard time imagining them picking up something SEGA has dropped.

Though I do wish that SEGA does put the first one on Vita just so I could have it digitally and portable.

Y'know, I've never played Xenogears -- I never ponied up the money for it when it came out and I've never been a fan of mechs, so I've never picked it up to playthrough after the fact. I've thought about it though... why do you like it so much?
The story, hands down. Not a lot of JRPGs have the same scope anymore and it builds itself in the same way games like 999/VLR do where the story is told in layers and pays off with twist after twist in rapid succession in the end game. Has some of Yasunori Mitsuda's most memorable work imo (chrono composer). I also really enjoy the characters.

The one big caveat though is its gameplay hasn't aged well and has a very slow text speed. While I've seen some people able to stomach it and enjoy the whole package years later I've only been able to play through it once (7 or 8 years ago). I fail every time I try to replay it and just watch other people LP it instead now.

The SRT situation is a little different. Atlus have nothing to do with Banpresto, they just licensed the games(which subsequently sold roughly 20 copies).

They're actively part of Sega, so if Atlus JP wants, the limit is pretty high.

As someone who has a 3DS and got the vita black friday, I totally agree. The screen looks just as good as my phone and is much superior to whats on the 3DS. Build quality seems better too, although the rear touchpad doesn't seem to be used much in games. Also, I hate the charging location.
