This is my virgin post, thought my account would never been approved for posting! I so much wanted to post in this Vita thread!

Here is some Vita-history of mine .. I bought the original Vita at launch with Uncharted and was astounded by the build of handheld. The last handheld that fascinated me was the Sega Game Gear and I do own lots of them.

However due to a lack of games in the beginnings of the Vita-era, I sold it to finance the purchase of a 3DS. I must agree the games are seemingly more 'fresh' and creative on the Nintendo handheld but it just didn't appeal to me. Eventually I sold the 3DS and bought a second Vita, mainly for Gravity Rush and Fifa 13 (which I thought had Ultimate Team). Needless to say, I was disappointed and sold it off again!

After a year, I was enthralled by the new Vita 2000 and finally it was released weeks ago in my country! I kinda miss the Vita, the hardware just feels so nice .. and the Vita thread poisoned me as well. Despite hearsay of the lackluster LCD screen, I decided to purchase it and was not disappointed. For everyone who thinks the OLED screen is better, it definitely is. However, the LCD screen does not disappoint at all .. it still looks fantastic to me. The best thing about it is the slimmer profile and the Micro USB port (finally I can use my mobile phone cable). And the battery really lasts much longer. I bought the black version and it looks .. really black and awesome.

Despite what many will say about the Vita - the games are just ports, I don't mind as long as they are good ports and nothing beats the feeling of playing a game on the move (or on the bed). And I appreciate Sony's account management more than Nintendo. I login to the PS Store, and just redownload the games I have bought before, on a different piece of hardware. This is how all devices should work.

I am so looking forward to FFX HD and currently own more than 15 games, all bought from Amazon on the Black Friday sales. Glad to be part of this thread and sorry for my long post!

The SRT situation is a little different. Atlus have nothing to do with Banpresto, they just licensed the games(which subsequently sold roughly 20 copies).

They're actively part of Sega, so if Atlus JP wants, the limit is pretty high.

I dunno how game companies exactly work, but isn't Atlus just a subsidiary to SEGA?

I also remember reading something about NBGI not magically having access to Bandai Visual works despite both being part of Bandai Namco group.

The company I recently joined is also a subsidiary to a Japanese company but our parent company is our client. We don't really have access to much of their stuff and vice versa. (They don't have access to the internally-developed tools and they've been saying they also want it for a while now.) So I don't know about Atlus being an "active" part of Sega or Atlus publishing it to be as smooth as you think.

I think the request has to formally come from SEGA since they own the title.

Just bought Sly Cooper for 10$ digital on Amazon, didn't know I could do that from here in Thailand but a fake Beverley Hills 90210 address works wonders (It was the only US postcode that I knew) :D

But I can guarantee that Sly will be on PS+ in January now, It's been 3 months since there was a game on PS+ that I didn't have already :(

Just starting up P4G right now. Intro's a bit weird, good thing yellow is my favorite color.

How bad is Very Hard? Should I start with regular Hard?

I found very hard to be nice(I played the PS2 version first and it did not have very hard). Golden's difficulty levels aren't like, say, elder scrolls difficulty levels where health and damage are the only things adjusted. The weaknesses and AI of enemies are tweaked so you have to use more complex tactics to survive.

Granted there are a variety of factors that make golden easier than the PS2 version(Like healing between battles with SOS and the easy shuffle)

However, if this is your first time playing a persona game and you are not confident, I wouldn't go with Very Hard.

Welcome to the warm fuzzy fold that is VitaGAF, and gratz on coming to your senses a picking up a Vita again... It's a great time.

Cool,I'll watch it.

I'm still surprise Atlus hasn't ported nocturne yet.

Funny thing is on the Famitsu release list am not sure if its still valid yet, but in the late future there seems to be an unnamed SMT game planned for the VITA.

How late we talking? And what's the likelihood this is SMT V(Or a new spinoff) and not a remake?

Welcome to the party! What games did you pick up from Amazon?

ohh what I would give for a SMT spinoff on the vita! just finished devil survivor overclocked on the 3ds. fantastic game!

do we already know which game will be the 3rd christmas sale?

Welcome to the party! What games did you pick up from Amazon?

I bought most of them when they were on sale:

1) Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time
2) Walking Dead (have it on PC, but it was $9.99!)
3) Uncharted (second time buying it, wanted a physical copy)
4) Persona 4: Golden
5) Dragon's Crown
6) Killzone: Mercenary
7) Gravity Rush (I disliked the game when a year ago, but it seems more fun now and wanted a physical copy for only $9.99)
8) Tearaway
9) LittleBigPlanet (didn't really like the demo, but it was $9.99!)
10) Need For Speed: Most Wanted
11) YS: Memories of Celceta
12) Unit 13
13) Batman Arkham Origins ($24.99 for a newly released game is rather worth it)
14) Muramasa Rebirth
15) Rayman Legends (was $17.99 on PSN but bought for $24.99 as wanted a physical copy)

And most importantly the 1 year PS+ subscription for $29.90.

Also, is Metal Gear Solid HD a decent port? I heard controls were bad. I played them on PS2 (never on PS3) and kinda want to replay them.

Wow. You really went shopping with the vita.

Mgs hd is really excellent. Can't really go wrong with it. The controls are complicated though, but that was already the case on the ps2 originals.

Recently got a vita and since I stopped playing my PSP around 6 months after its release I'm looking for some PSP recommendations that are available on the EU store.

I also like this thread a lot and will be picking up tearaway later tonight after reading about it here.

Live long and prosper, vitabros!

Yes, I was completely satisfied with the port! I had no problems with the controls on the vita, given that MGS controls are a bit strange at first (leaning against walls etc.).

Tactics Ogre
Patapon 1/2/3
Final Fantasy Tactics

make Tactics Ogre your #1 priority. fantastic port and it looks gorgeous on the vita screen!

I picked up Toukiden on a whim the other day for about $15.

I like it, maybe even more so than Soul Sacrifice. Things like upgrading seem a lot more streamlined than say, Monster Hunter, and I like how they've included little things like tapping the bottom right of the screen to active your Demon's Eye ability (alternate view mode like Soul Sacrifice.)

Your Mitama, almost like Materia or Persona, function as your inventory so you're not constantly farming stuff to make potions, ear plugs, or marker balls like in MonHun.

There are only about 5 or so weapon types in the game, but most of them have alternate firing modes that make them more interesting. On a negative note, the "Claw" grip is still very much alive - especially if you play with the kusarigama or bow.

The price cut suggests that most people have moved on to God Eater 2 already and I'll probably check it out myself. I think I'll try to platinum Toukiden first before deciding whether to go Soul Sacrifice Delta or God Eater 2 (or maybe even Ys!.) I like the atmosphere of Soul Sacrifice and all, but the upgrade component, the limits you have on your skills, and certain boss mechanics are turning me off the game a bit. At the very least, melee seems a lot more viable than Soul Sacrifice.

So... MEGATON

There's an update to the Music Unlimited app that lets you stream music in the background. This was previously only possible for music stored offline.

The claw mode is the best control method EVAR. Mainly because I dont have to take my fingers off the action button and have full control of everything at once.

Kinda rough doing the CLAW and trying to exploit the back panel controls at the same time.

I'm not complaining (too much), but it gets in the way of my evasion-based backstep as a Kusarigama user.

So... I bought The Legends of Heroes Sen no Kiseki from the PS Awards sale, upon which I realize that the DLCs are quite pricey (casual costumes = 800 per pack, 300 per piece, 3000 to buy all of them >_>) . Will not play it for a while. At the very least, not until I finish the third Sora game.

I'm still contemplating whether to buy the Evolution ports of Eiden 7 or just get the PSP versions. I keep hearing about it having a "slightly less awesome sound track" and I have a mixed feelings about the full voiced thing.

LOL, I have a strong feeling that NeoGAF will not like Sora no Kiseki SC, though.

Also saw Gurumin on the JP store... which I will never buy, coz it reminds me of Totobeni. .-.

Dont worry Im just giving you shit for fun :D Im one of those old school guys who preferred all things pretty much manual for the most part like with the most excessive control scheme game the original Armored Core titles on the PS1. Its why things like the claw dont phase me for the most part. That and Im one who prefers to have manual control over everything than relying on stuff like an auto camera or lockon.

Vitatvvitatvvitatvvitatv. Well if you spend most of your time playing JP stuff anyways.

Thats ok since the loading times wont allow you to play the game anyways! *joking.

Even though its been patched its still pretty bad. Moreso if you have played the Neptune rebirth rerelease which the loading times are pretty much next to nothing for battles. Its what made me stop playing the game. Didnt want to put up with the constant loading. Its too bad since I did like what I played and the characters seem interesting enough.

Get the PSP versions. The Vita port had issues granted a patch was put out to "fix" it still dont want to put money down relying on that. Since the stuff with the Vita version were pretty serious initially which is why its not too well received. I was quite happy with the PSP versions as is. Its too bad they never made a PS3 HD version similar to the Sora 1-3.

Wyvern is the most bullshit archfiend of Soul Sacrifice. Homing Karate attack that really hard to dodge, and require split second reaction to block with shield unless you prepared before hand, then burrowing attack that almost impossible to dodge without burrowing offering, worst of all, the cheap, screen filtering attack with black-splotch followed by said burrowing attack after that. I swear never raged so hard against Soul Sacrifice boss before.
Which sorcerer you think had the best story?
I've yet to play another sorcerer story chapter, but for background story I prefer Radux, though personally I like Carnatux character more than the man-child.

With the scoring system, yeah melee it just impractical, even it will put you to disadvantage. Bulk of the score usually comes from Unscathed that yields 150 point. I think they really need to balance or change this Unscathed point mark somehow to make melee more viable.

SCEE fails its update (again)...

I informed them in PS EU Blog

Hey. Using Vita psn cant even find that Rainbow Moon PS3 player offer (5,16€ for PS+ price). I do find it with using webstore.

When I try to “Proceed” purchase comes error:

“We’ve countered an error while processing your order. The transaction has not been completed. Please try again.

^^ This error came yesterday and today again. It doesnt matter if I remove “rainbow-moon-ps3-player-special-offer” from cart and add it again. Cant buy it.

Pls fix this, so I can play RM with Vita.

ps. Also from game, if you try to buy RM, it directs you to trial version. Or if you try to click the version that has price on it, it directs again to trial version…

Hopefully they fix this problem today. Its Indenpendence day in Finland tomorrow, thus I have free day from work, would be so nice to play Rainbow Moon wiht my Vita.

How's the actual loading time anyways (esp. changing maps/areas)?

I went with around 108 hours of SC in just one playthrough, and I think about half is due to NPCs alone (I do mean just talking to NPCs, not doing requests). I didn't even grind except for that one time I didn't encounter the Shining Pom in the are/chapter.

I think Soul Sacrifice was a good first entry, but the real test will be with Delta in a few months.

I still play it, but like you said, for me there is little incentive to go melee unless
I'm fighting against Wyvern in which case I NEED to go melee.

Even after the patch I consider it to be quite irritating. Ryouga and a few others beat the game, but that dude is chill like Buddha so not a lot of stuff irritates him and hes generally positive on a lot of things. Its why you can generally trust what he says on things when it comes to quality of a games story and whatnots.

For myself personally as mentioned before found it to be unacceptable considering that battles will be a major thing you will be doing in the game. That and when am used to other titles that load a lot faster.

The game for the story / settings / characters is worth it though. Its just damned unfortunate that they seemed to have their dicks on backwards when it came to optimizing the game with the loading times. Since its still new you can hope that the work continues on fixing it.

I hated how items earned was based on overall stage rank. Due to it punishes players who are not as skilled. Which is why granted it can be stressful the random approach in most other titles is more appreciated. This is looking at it from a developer / consumer design standpoint.

That and if the overall rank is shared for MP it causes elitism where veteran players would not be as interested to play with less skilled ones due to bringing down the overall grade effecting what rewards are to be gained. Since I personally have not played MP do not know if this is the case, but did get the answer from another user that the ranking / item rewards is in MP.

Hello!

Long time lurker, new poster.

From stalking this thread I think I might be in the minority - I use my Vita for mostly twitchy arcade games. I tried a JRPG with Persona 4 Golden and didn't like it (I know, shoot me).

Hope you are all well.

Anyway - I just wanted to mention TxK. It doesn't get mentioned here enough. Jeff Minter is amazing and if this is half as good as Tempest 2000 I know where at least 100 hours of my life will be going.

Hi VitaGAF, I really liked Zero Escape. Are there any other games like that on the Vita? PSP games on the PSN store is fine too.

I can't think of much quite like it, but something like sweet fuse (currently out) or danganropa (coming out early next year) might be worth looking into.

Corpse party games are the closest to VLR I believe. There's also Danganronpa but that's coming out in early 2014.

Yeah, it makes it a lot harder to bring NPCs to fights because you will be penalized if they take a lot of damage.

There are a lot of small things I don't like about the game and that is definitely one of them. I imagine it gets worse the further you get into the game. I'm still sitting around rank 15 so I haven't had the pleasure of experiences some of the more glaring design issues. I can already tell that facing multiple bosses might be hazardous to my Vita's health so maybe I should quit while I can.

I want to like it, but I find myself enjoying Toukiden more. Maybe if I switched the Book's VA back to Japanese...

Whats worse is getting pushed into the map background so you get stuck forcing you to quit the mission as theres nothing to be done at that point.

Yeah and a lot of other design issues. Great monster design, story, but gameplay not so much. Is how I saw it.

You don't get penalized if they take damage. Points-wise, NPCs can earn you more in the end since they're fodder for saving/sacrificing. Bringing allies increases the HP of archfiends though, which can make the actual fight harder since the AI are kinda dumb.

NPC health has 0 effect on your score at the end of a pact. The only thing that matters is how much damage YOU take.

Thinking about it, the only way having extra people with you can penalize you is by making the boss have more health -- which in turn may make your time to finish the quest slower, which will not give you points. Considering it takes 450 or so to get the top rank in most pacts, that's not an unreachable goal. If you play the game with any sort of skill, you can get that. When our crew was running at full potential, some of us were clearing 700+ on a pact.

I usually spend more time trying to save their asses, then them actually doing anything useful which is why if I can help it the moronic minions can stay at home lol

My mistake. Thanks for the correction!

If you play the game with any sort of skill...

Why you gotta be like that, VitaFam? ;.;

After i get all 9 talismans in Dragon crown how far i'm from ending game ?

Hmm I wonder if i want to bother with higher difficulty levels

Calling to all of VitaGAFPervGAF!

Senran Kagura Shinovi Versus VitaTV update is more than just VitaTV functionality.

Stuff:
-VitaTV compatibility (who doesn't want SV on a big screen so your neighbors can see, too?)
-Hanzohen 4-02: fixed the bug where you can go outside of the stage.
-Freeze bug on full destruction during online battle.
-The ahoge turning full white during online battle.
-Yumi's Hishou Ranbu has weird scoring on online battles.
... among other small things.

Control Changes:
too lazy to translate/list... but Takaki mention that since there's no gyro on VitaTV, avoid trying to make your TV stand vertically. He does give a friendly advice, though: Lie down on the floor if you really want to look up their skirts.

Santa Color Costume Set
2013/12/18 DLC
Every shinobi student (inc. Rin and Daidouji) will get a Santa-ish variation of their original costume. Will be distributed as a set.

There's also another pattern but you should look forward to them when you get them.

Shinobi Gakusei Hair Set
2014/01/09 DLC
Characters will be able to have the hairstyle of other shinobi (excluding Rin and Daidouji). AKA, you can retain their natural hair color but use the hairstyle of the other girls.

***Both the Santa Color costume and the Hair set will be free. There will also be paid DLC to come.

P.S. If noone ever translated why MAQL released those free DLC a few months ago (the ones named "Pure"), it was because Takaki realized that there was no plain color underwear. Thus, with all his passion and hard work, he gave us those gift.
