Super Smash Bros Wii U and 3DS Thread 3: Ridley's Believe It or Not!

I suggest we be optimistic but hold no expectations.

Just for numbers

Smash had 13 pokeball pokemon (not counting Saffron City pokes)

Melee had 29 pokeball pokemon

Brawl had 31 pokeball pokemon

Yet whenever I throw Brawl in for an hour with mates or with AI I only ever seem to see a few pokeball pokemon

Speaking of that (goes to play Brawl)

Don't know if anyone addressed this, but Brawl pre-loads everything before the match. When you select your stage it randomly selects if a smash ball or dragoon will appear. It also selects the few Pokemon that will appear in the match.

That's why brawl's Pokemon selection can look sparce.

This explains so darn much.

...Who thought this was a good idea?

Untrue, the game loads Pokemon on the fly. Get your disc really scratched up and play with items, you'll see the game freeze up when it's loading a Pokemon out of a Pokeball occasionally. I've been to over 50 local, regional, and national combined tournaments in my years as a competitive player, and can confirm having seen this many times.

The more likely reason you only see a handful is because the chance rates are differing;

Brawl does pre-load a lot of things, but it doesn't pre-load stage transformations or character transformations.

I swear the numbers for mew/jirachi/celebi are reversed with manaphy.

Disregarding his canonically ambiguous past as the original Donkey Kong (which Nintendo doesn't like to talk about), Cranky's far less important to the Donkey Kong Country series than Dixie is. We can't really assume Sakurai was privy to every Tropical Freeze detail back when he was deciding the roster early last year -- and even if he was, that doesn't mean he'd automatically include Cranky Kong. He has one playable appearance in the DKC series versus Dixie's three (or five counting the Donkey Kong Land games).

I honestly think DK and Diddy are more than enough. There'd be too many apes and monkeys on the roster IMO, I'd prefer more diversity in the roster. Maybe Dixie at most, even then I'd prefer K. Rool because he's a giant croc.

I'd be down for Dixie or K. Rool which I honestly think it comes down to. Cranky might work, but if he is in the game then I would rather it be him in the form of the original 8-bit arcade DK hopping around and chucking barrels.

They would have to call him Donkey Kong though because that's his name in that incarnation.

Cranky would be hilarious now that I think about it... lol

Sakurai called me again.

Apparently Cranky Kong will be in.

Also, adding limb and blood physics so you can rip the shit out of your opponents.

The lengths people will go to in order to evade disappointment.

And I only want gore if Jigglypuff can tear Ganondorf's arms off with its bare hand-stubs.

man that 5 sec avatar bet is going to be torture to go through

HOPE YOU'RE READY BAT

So what are you going to be changing it to for a whole 5 seconds? I think we're all going to have to make sure to be online immediately at that moment.
