No Man's Sky announced - Hello Games (VGX)

I hope that there's better footage of the trailer, because I wasn't really impressed by what I saw.

Picture quality wise it looked really bad.

Wow. Graphically not blown away but being that it's procedurally generated is pretty amazing. Going to be honest, the scene where the ship took off into the atmosphere got me. Pretty hyped for this now.

I assumed this is a PC game since there was no mention of the system in the trailer, is that not the case? It would be a damn shame if this wasn't on PC.

This game looks like what I thought the future of video games would be back in the 90s.

It was the only reference of an MMO that's both on PC and consoles that I could think of. And I'm not changing the subject, that WAS the subject.

The argument was more on how it would be suicide for the dev team if it was a console release only and using an IRC channel as evidence of it.

Oop, I missed that, apologies then.

DCUO is still funny though, you wont take this away from me, I'm leaving before you clear up anything else.

They've had this as coming soon on their site since before Joe Danger 2, so they've definitely had a lot of time to iterate.

This is the game I wanted out of Bungie with Destiny, but they don't seem capable. Very excited for this.

The artistry is far more impressive in Destiny. To even compare it to Bungie's game is ridiculous, the guy sweet talked most of you into a frenzy despite the trailer not delivering at all.

They are overreaching like hell. I'm gonna call it this game is not going to have 1/100 the content described. And I'm sorry but that guy really came off smug when he said that Sci Fi as it is in video games is just space marines. The trailer showed same ol shit we have already seen in games and of course talk.

To be fair, he didn't say sci fi in games was just space marines, he said, "...there are like lots of science fiction games, but they're normally, like, when I say that you picture space marines, right? You picture, like, the post apocalypse, you picture dystopia." I understand being skeptical, but there is no real value in crapping on people's ambitions.

Looks amazing but I don't think a four person team will do the concept justice. When he was talking about every star being a sun with planets that you can go to around it, well, I want to believe, but I'm not sure they can realize the game I'm envisioning in my head now.

That developer (Murray?) broke my heart. Looks like such a cool, passionate, and nice dude.

He sold his damn house to fund Joe Danger! I can't imagine that sold too well. The original was PS Exclusive, and the sequel sold pretty terribly, no?

Just four guys. Can't imagine the crazy work they put into this. Really hope they can make their dreams come true.

I don't know if they want to, or if publishers wont, but with such an ambitious title, I can't help but think they'd love some support. Can they not do a kickstarter or something?

Ok, so I watched the trailer a few more times and I realized that half of what makes me excited is the title screen with the black gem and pulsing red orb. It just looks so cool! It fills me with hope about the game.

Is that trailer music from the game? It's so damn good

Very true. This is what I imagined Destiny to be like after they dropped the first details

As the player walked up to that ship I kept repeating "please get in it and fly to space, please get in and fly to space." And holy shit did it deliver.

I missed the VGX's (apparently a good thing) but I just saw this trailer: Wow. It's like someone finally tried to make good on those engine tech demos where you could land on a planet/take back off, and they did it with good art direction. Super hyped for it now.

I understand but the way he was talking is as if the game is out and and everyone has played it. Don't talk down to a genre unless you have delivered. The guy is just talking the talk and I hate when devs do that without the pedigree to back them up. The trailer did not match his ambition.

If this is the game that the trailer and developer promises, then wow, next gen in the truest sense.

PC only I assume?

The art direction and outstanding use of colour gives me a 'classic sci-fi novel cover art' vibe and I am really, REALLY digging it. Anyone get what I mean?

I actually lol'd when he said that. I didn't picture all unique worlds and such because if they are just a 4 people studio then there is going to be a lot less unique content making up the game.

I couldn't quite put my finger on it but it looks like the world/art style from Blow's game, The Witness

What the hell are you even talking about?

The developer Himself said that Joe Danger was successful for them, but due to it being distributed digitally we dont have any numbers or anything.

I guess I should not be surprised that some are crapping on this because its an indie game, and we all know indie games cannot be great games. Im dying to learn more about it.

Given their previous relationship with Sony, and the size of the team I would not be surprised if this ended up being a "first on playstation" game. Though I could also see it being PC only at launch as well, unless they get help I cannot imagine it will be multiplatform out of the gate, even more so due to the persistent nature that the developer alluded to.

If we dont see something between now, and E3 Id be willing to bet they show up on Sony, or Microsofts stage.

I'm just curious would people be excited if only the trailer was shown and no sweet talk from the dev.

I got excited the moment the ship went from land to space and music swelled, as I'm sure most people who are interested in this genre did. All the dev's talk did was tell me that, yes, they ARE aiming for exactly what I want in a sci-fi game.

I love all space games. I need this. I need this game right now!

I get exactly what you mean man.

I was sold on the game the second the player left the water at the beginning. Even if they don't make good on all their promises of such a vast universe I'm still in on this day one.

The game looks like it has a ton of potential, but they didn't show enough to really sell me. I want to see more.
Also no idea how a 4-man team is working on something like this.

Do you really think they are going about their game hand crafting each planet and placing each asset on each surface manually.

Do you.
