Anyone else have random problems with not being able to warp back down to your planet? I experienced this before the update and still experience it now. I'll go to warp and it just keeps warping me back to the ship instead.
Sometimes it works, maybe 2 out of 5 times. Known glitch or am I doing something wrong? Just started a new character after the recent update.
Party at the planet core!
GAF server is fun.

Honestly I was prepared for wipes but the latest wipe erased all my interest to play the game for now, the world I got last time was so perfect![]()
If you wrote down the coordinates, that world is still there (anything you built won't be, but the biome will be the same).
Oh crap I didn't think of this D: But I backed-up the files of my last world, I wonder if there's a way to get the coordinates out of them...
Look in your starbound\universe folder in steamApps. The first 2 numbers in the title of each WORLD file are the coordinates of a planet you have been to. Enter those in the navigation screen, and you should see your home planet after a few tries. Hope this helps someone out.

Is temperature only a concern when it's cold?
Yes, unfortunately.
Only for now. They intend for heat to be a factor as well.
More environmental hazards/weather/temperature is definitely something I'd like to see added later on. Whole planets/biomes that are just unexplorable unless you come prepared. The most satisfying thing for me thus far was going to a moon and dying immediately to cold -> went hunting for leather -> crafted snow armor -> came back and explored the moon.Only for now. I saw there is eventually going to be an ocean type which is a good start. But what about not just an ocean planet, but an acid planet. Lightning storms, rivers of lava, planets without oxygen and so forth. Perhaps high tier planets where exploring with a vehicle is mandatory because the outside is just completely uninhabitable.

what if i just store things that arent weapons
will they still be there after the dmg fix wipe?
Have they clarified yet if there's going to be another wipe or not? They said there would be at first... but latest I heard was maybe not?
For this current wipe everything is gone. If you got to a planet you stored things on it'll be reset and if you try and load the world from a backup it'll just load a fresh state of that world.
With the upcoming probable wipe it'll probably do the same.
upcoming wipe is a dmg fix though
what do planets have to do with damage fixes?
Most likely the damage values and whatever else are embedded in the weapon object at the time of it's creation and instead of spending effort writing code for the patch that hunts through the player's inventory and every container on every planet looking for weapons to nerf, it is just less of a hassle to delete everything and start clean.upcoming wipe is a dmg fix though

I'm willing to bet there will be future wipes.

Is the chest/container loot randomized or is it the same each time?

i just wish theyd make birds less aggressive

Planets that mess with gravity would be nice. I imagine at some point they considered having gravity based on the planet's mass but decided against it due to the dungeon problem. Would probably completely screw their AI and such as well. But if you just have low/high gravity modifiers, I would think that could be reasonably workable.I believe it's the same every time, or close to it. I skimmed through the google database people are using and it seemed like certain tech was reliably in the same place.
I agree with all this, I thought the Moon biome required you to wear a space suit or run out of oxygen. Color me disappointed, hopefully that gets added later. The only thing they've said they can't add is different gravity levels because it interferes with the more platforming-oriented dungeons. I still think they could find a way to make sure those particular dungeons are always on planets with the right gravity level... I want to have some planets where I float all over.
Agreed, they're definitely the worst right now. If I don't kill them they'll fly around my home swooping at me forever.
Man fall damage is wayyy too much now. I barely drop at all underground and I'm dead.
Off the top of my head, betas that I've been in from much larger dev studios where the games were initially far worse off than Starbound currently is:
Starfleet Command I & II
Master of Orion 2
Longbow 2.0
Falcon 4.0
European Air War
By contrast, Starbound honestly plays very polished so far. I haven't even encountered a crash or a graphical glitch at all yet, and it's core features seem for the most part done to me, sans numbers balancing.
Where can I read up on lore? I hear the Avian stuff is fairly dark.
I'd say that's a pretty fair assessment... lolSo... with almost 80,000 concurrent users on Steam, I guess it's a safe bet to say this game is selling a lot.
Is there another character wipe imminent? Can I actually play it today?
