GTA: San Andreas coming to iOS/Android/Kindle/Windows Mobile; controllers supported

Touch Arcade said this might release tonight on the App Store. Are they reliable?
That would be dope, but I doubt it. I remember R* announcing GTA III and Vice City weeks in advance with trailers and everything and interviews about the original games leading up to their iOS releases.

Edit: although, now that I think about it part of all that was for the 10 year anniversaries of III and Vice City. Not the case this year with San Andreas (that's next year) so maybe we will get a sudden release.

$9.99? Damn way higher than VC or GTA 3. I do love the idea of these games on my phone, but really dont play games on it. I probably will buy this anyways when it drops in price haha.

It's $7.

Assuming you're living the USA

I feel like the majority of people that buy these GTA games on mobile boot it up for 5 minutes, say "wow" that this huge game fits on their phone and than never play it again. I can't imagine playing through any of these games through touch only on that tiny screen.

This was my experience with GTA III on mobile lol

edit: Hmm might try that GameKlip thing if I figure out how to get a PS4 controller working on my HTC One

A quick question: Does GTA III and Vice City on Android allow you to drive/fly with pressure sensitive triggers (L2/R2, or for Xbox 360 users, LT/RT)?

If so, I'm totally buying San Andreas on Android, as I can't get pressure sensitive triggers to work on PC. It'll be the best version of the game I'll own simply because of that.

It's up on the U.S. Apple App Store for $6.99, now for Google Play.......

I can't find it on my iphone, but can find it on itunes. $7 is cheaper than I thought it was gonna be. Well worth double dipping, but I might wait for the android version since tablet play will probably be superior to phone play. It doesn't seem like it will have gamecenter/play games achievements, which is kind of a let down.

Is it up? Can't find it.

I don't think it's up on ipad/iphone, but it's up on itunes. You have to go to the link that shows all games by rockstar. Just search for GTA, click on GTA VC and then click on Rockstar Games and it'll be there.

Ah, such a wonderful time to inadvertently destroy my Android phone!

God above, please let me get a job again so that I can get my hands on a Galaxy note...

Hmm, so will this work on a first gen ipad mini?

Not sure why that was a funny question.

Anyway, yes - looks like it, according to the blurb:

"*** PLEASE NOTE: Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas is only supported on the following devices: iPhone 4s, iPhone 5, iPhone 5s, iPhone 5c, iPod Touch 5th gen, iPad 2, 3rd and 4th gen, iPad Air, iPad Mini and iPad Mini with Retina Display.***"

No idea on the framerate though.

There's nothing mysterious about game delays on heavily pirated devices. PC gaming endures the same thing from GTA releases.

Still seems like speculation to me unless you have a reliable source saying 'we delay on devices with high piracy rates'. Wouldn't surprise me if they're just in bed with Apple.

You realize how much simpler it is for them to port a game to only a handful of spec variations, right? It's not always some moneyhat conspiracy.

Welp, it's certainly not working here.

I booted up Vice City also, and I'm having texture problems that I never encountered before- stuttering and objects popping in all over the place. Maybe it is my phone, I don't know!

Then I'll go back to my original claim. Piracy. They delay the PC version of all GTA's as well and I'm sure it's not Sony/MS moneyhats keeping it off PC.

You are right though - testing and validation for Android is considerably more complicated. For example Sonic Dash just recently came out on Android but the iOS version was released in March.

Well, gave it a try. 2 crashes in a row. Can't get to a save point. That was after killing all programs, rebooting, and playing only that game. This is first gen ipad mini which plays the other GTA's fine.

Same here. 2 crashes on iPad mini. On iPad Air it won't even start.
