VT4 is one of the platform's best ports. It's content complete, 60fps, native res, and has additional content.
VT4 is definitely one of those games that sadly do not get recommended enough around here. Great game even for people who generally dislike sports games like me.

Gafers, i'm about to buy a Japanese Vita 2000. North American memory cards work on them right ? actually everything work except that it's Japanese... ? Is that correct ?

Correct. Do be aware that the O and X buttons are permanently switched for the UI configuration though.

Federer was good in that game. it's sad to see him (in real life) play like shit now.

Don't let me start. this thread(s) recommendations are screwed, VitaGAF community just doing awful work here. I kept an eye for weeks and it's mostly the PS+/price cut titles/P3P/some famous old IPs like FF that get recommended here most of the time. most of Vita 1st year games got completely ignore.

pretty sad.

Tempted by the Walking Dead but it seems a bit depressing. Forced my friend to buy Spelunky so we can play co-op, he liked it but it was a challenge convincing him. He missed out on the sale too (his fault) but it's worth it anyway. Lan was awesome too, just showing him the ropes to save him some deaths but it was so much fun. One more buddy to go for 3 player Lan mode.

Got the hang of the ice stages again...just need to practice the jungle now -_- not looking forward to that. Terraria has been a pretty nice change of pace but I prefer it in mp...need everyone to get it :P

- Interactive Comic thingy, Non-game.
- Direct to DVD quality dialogues and cast compared to the show.
- Your choices mean absolutely nothing most of the time no matter what you do.
- Predictable main plot, full of cliches story.
- No Puzzels and nothing smart going. you just talk, pick stuff from floor to people and push the stick.

If you are a huge fan of TWD comics and show you might enjoy it I guess, but yeah it's really boring and bad.

I liked the game. I think the show is awful. Never read the comics.

You guys have got me addicted to Spelunky. It took a few attempts for the game to actually click, but I found myself rage quitting and restarting the game over and over again last night.

Anyone here have a Twitter account? I'll follow any of my fellow VitaGaffers.

https://twitter.com/AnthonyMole if you want to give me a follow!

Disagree with these two points. It might be standard fare for a zombie narrative (I wouldn't know, I don't really watch zombie films), but the character interaction was great. Most notably, that of the relationship between Lee and Clementine. It's like The Last of Us from a story perspective; sure it might tread on familiar ground, but the characters really move it forward.

I agree though that there isn't much "game" to it. It's more something you play for the story. Which is fine by me, but it might bug others.

Yeah, Nadal and Nole completely owned the season. Hopefully Federer will find his game again next year as so many players his age have.

About VT4, if my backlog weren't so big i'd buy it. But the price is also a bit high for me. If it ever gets to $29.99 I'll get it.

Has it ever been on discount?

TWD is definitely not Alice in Wonderland. The story is grim and dark.

I agree with Toto's remarks on the game, but to be honest, they are not such a downer for me. The plot might be cliche but it is miles ahead of the show or the comics imo. If you consider the game more a point and click adventure you won't be disappointed.

Although I do agree completely with Toto in that your choices are nigh to irrelevant. It's funny to see how the game gets hyped with the phrase "Choice matters: your decisions change the story around you", when this is clearly false by the most part. I'm still surprised this game got GOTY award on so many sites.

All in all, it is a nice game and I personally love it. Just know what to expect and you won't be disappointed by it.

Edit: If you have a PS3 or a smartphone, you can try a demo of the game. It is quite good at showing you what it is all about. Not sure if there is a demo for the Vita version though.

Thanks for the impressions everyone but yeah for me personally:

TWD is definitely not Alice in Wonderland. The story is grim and dark.

I should probably leave it since story is such a big focus. Not even read the comics or seen the show and would otherwise be probably interested if I didn't have such an aversion to horror stuff, not my sort of entertainment :p

Glad Spelunky has that initial hold on you, Tapejara, hope it gets my friend soon too, he's been too tired for games recently, even Dota 2 so it'll be tough, but he has a long commute and a sexy new waterfield case for his vita, so maybe.

just gave Tearaway a go. game is really magical!
not sure why I had to put down the Vita though.

lol. a sudden loss of interest in games ><

If it contains so many great things, why not like it? Is it the character design? The world? It's a pretty good game and the shortness of it is really the only flaw I can see in it.

That's not good...

I thought the character design was good and the worlds were ok. Part of it is I'm not a really creative person and found the creation stuff distracting when I wanted to continue the game. I also found myself skipping all the dialogue. I'm going to play it some more to wrap up trophies. Maybe il change my mind

ah man - disappointing to hear. what wasn't doing it for you?

to be fair i have plenty of gripes with the game too, but overall thoroughly enjoyed the adventure.

Unfortunately I'm struggling with hey exactly I didn't like it. I want to agree that overall it was enjoyable and there were some parts I did enjoy. I just never felt very vested in the story or characters and as I said above the creation stuff I didn't really get into.

I absolutely adore LBP but I cannot for the life of me create anything worth a dam in that game either.

classic bad toto opinion

TWD is great, esp if you like adventure games

it's considerably better than both the comic and show

and i don't get the complaints about your choices not mattering... i thought the game did a fantastic job of making you face the kinds of decisions youd have to make in that world. it's not the witcher 2 where you get a new game, but it's super solid.

Well, really, the choices you made didn't matter. They did a masterful job of making those choices meaningful to YOU regardless of the games narrative however.

Also, they did some very smart things with your expectations in the way stories are told in games and TV shows.

Otherwise all of Toto's points are valid. I still gave it GOTY for 2012 though.

OMG, Terraria is so great. I don't know what I am doing just hacking away blocks and doing practically nothing but I just want to keep doing it.

Explored a chasm in the corruption, which took me quite some time to get down there just to die because I did something wrong at the bottom.
Also found the jungle and it is brutal. So many enemies spawn there, it is quite annoying. No time for resting.

Still heaven't found a additional heart and I don't know what to use my mana for? At least I now found a way to summon a boss but need to work on it more.

I am very happy that it came to the Vita and I bought it. Wouldn't have played it on the PC but for a handheld it is perfect.
Also probably sold two copies of the game
on iOS
showing it to my nephews, one of them is a huge Minecraft fan.

I haven't posted in here for a while, so here is a quick little update

One of my friends got me the Jak & Daxter Collection today and I know that it has its share of performance issues, so that should be fun....I'm also going to continue my Ys playthrough once I'm done with FFVIII. My dad also got me Tearaway for Christmas, so I'll be playing that once I get it!

Anyone get their $10 back from the Thanksgiving promotion a while back? Was looking forward to using it to buy Spelunky but I still haven't gotten my code D:

Virtua Tennis 3 on PSP vs. Virtua Tennis 4 on Vita

Yeah, for sure. I have no interest in sports games - especially not tennis - but I still really enjoyed this game, and the tech behind it was fantastic.

Ugh, man...J&D Collection... :( One of the only games I deleted off my memory card because I knew I wouldn't play it anymore. It makes me so sad that they were such bad ports. The thought of Precursor Legacy on my Vita was amazing, but the actual product was bad.

Ugh... I am a big Tennis fan; I wish I could like Virtua Tennis enough to buy this but the silly shenanigans the series is known for is honestly pushing me away. If only we have Top Spin for Vita...

Is it that bad?!?! I have a return label for the gift, but god...it's a gift and I really don't want to return it

Is it that bad?!?! I have a return label for the gift, but god...it's a gift and I really don't want to return it

Again, the general thought was that the framerate on 2 and 3 was pretty terrible, but the framerate on the original is kind of janky at first but supposedly stabilizes and becomes pretty decent after you get an hour or two in (past the opening areas).

I don't have personal experience, but I remember the various impressions in here -- part of it will depend on how sensitive you are to bad framerate. :)

A few people here said they were able to enjoy it alright, but I personally couldn't. Bad framerate, sub-native res, and juddery camera movement. Ugh...I'm getting sad thinking about it. J&D The Precursor Legacy is one of my favorite games ever. Sadly, I found Daxter [PSP] on Vita to look and perform better than the J&D Collection.

Ugh, that sounds almost as bad as the Ratchet: Full Frontal Assault port.

Aw yeah! Persona 4 came! Let me just put this baby in. Huh. It's not reading it, let me see...

Huge gashes in the gamecard on the little golden parts. All worn to hell.

Sigh.

The hell...sounds like malicious damage! Hope you get a refund prompto. That sucks.

Or maybe just really terrible maintenance, they should come with those old gameboy cases.

Ye it was on sale on the NA PSN for $19.59. Think it was during the "Japanese Developers" sale.

goddammit how the hell did I miss that.

I already have Meruru+ but I refuse to play it until I've cleared Totori+. Before anyone mentions continuity, I've played and Platinum'd both games on PS3.

If I were you I'd hold off on buying it until the NA PSN Christmas deals are done. I think a Sony employee teased some Vita content going on sale next week, so it's possible it might get discounted during the holidays.

Edit: I'm in a similar spot, except I have Totori+ but not Meruru +. I refuse to start Totori+ until I've played the PS3 games lol. Gotta get around to finishing Rorona...

Yep I'll wait. I was about to buy it but you saved me :3

Totori and Meruru improve Rorona's systems so much. Just get Rorona over with and enjoy the living hell out of the next two.

We're going to have a lot more vita indie fans by next year:

Luftrausers
Eufloria HD
Don't Starve
Binding of Isaac
Terraria
Dustforce
OlliOlli
TxK
Mutant Mudds
Rogue Legacy
Minecraft
Hotline Miami 2
Starbound
Velocity 2x
Fez?
Snapshot?

Forgot Bit.Trip Runner 2 and Road Not Taken.

I wish Dyad, Alien Hominid and AAAA Reckless disregard for Gravity was coming too, but these will do nicely.

As for full games, GTA, GT, RE/4, Mirrors Edge. Dreams like those.

Getting close to finishing Rayman Origins. Only have a couple more worlds to go. Will probably get most of the trophies too since I'm getting all electoons and doing the speed trophies too. I like so many levels that I'm not sure I will be disappointed at all playing them again on Legends.

Also can't wait for Tearaway. It will fit into that niche of always making me happy when I play it like AC:NL currently does. I wasn't hyped for the game at all until playing the demo and seeing the undeniable charm it had.

Is it that bad?!?! I have a return label for the gift, but god...it's a gift and I really don't want to return it

Personally, I didn't think it was that bad. To be honest, my biggest problem with the games was the camera. Jak and Daxter just has a janky fucking camera. The controls are great, but man, that camera pisses me off. It did on the PS2, it did in the PS3 HD Collection, and it does on the Vita collection.

Outside of that, I don't think the games are terrible. It's not like Ratchet & Clank: Full Frontal Assault. Now that was a genuinely unplayable mess. J&D suffers from framerate issues, but nothing on that level.

But remember, I'm a guy that honestly doesn't get up in arms about framerate to begin with, and I have a wicked gaming PC, so it's not like I'm ignorant of what playing games is obscene resolutions and 120+fps is like.

Might as well post this before it disappears.

A French vita owner is prototyping a vita l2/r2/l3/r3 add on for RP. Hopefully he completes it.

Ah top of page thing: Buy Tearaway, Doki Doki Universe and rainbow moon
