Super Smash Bros Wii U and 3DS Thread 3: Ridley's Believe It or Not!

Would this be like a wondering space bus, like it went off track and has been drifting for days and it just happened to enter orbit and hit him. OR is there intent behind this bus, and you intend to hit him with the bus.

We're talking a bus that I am driving at full speed.

With spikes attached to the grille.

A bus? You're thinking too small, Caladrious.

Is this game confirmed to have any kind of adventure mode?

I hope not, because Subspace Emissary is the biggest pile of shit I've ever had the displeasure of playing. I refuse to believe that actual human beings designed it.

Luckily, no SSE mode. Maybe an adventure mode similar to Melee's if anything.

It will probably have a more robust version of Melee's adventure mode.

Sakurai stated he's not doing another adventure mode like brawls verson lol.

They confirmed that there wouldn't be cutscenes but they've been vague on everything else.

ok we are talking about a Mad Max/Twisted Metal buss, that is pretty deadly.

So what if nintendo wanted to make an other m 2, how would that make you feel

They seem to have learned their lesson, but if they were stupid enough to make a sequel...

Using more than a bus would imply that Other:M deserves to have a tremendous amount spent on its filth.

Here's a character I haven't heard suggested in a while. What do you guys think of Dillon's Rolling Western? Personally I hope Dillon makes it in the roster, but I'd settle for an assist trophy.

I always liked his design.
He could be a nice assist trophy.

Dillon would be a cool addition, I hope they add him because we need more franchises of most recent memory.

Also my most wanted newcomers are Ridley, Waluigi and Palutena... I think Palutena is the only one that has a shot at this :(

I'm ok with this. Sorta hoping he gets a green chesnaught alt if he makes it in lol.

Not exactly a character I care that much about, but he'd probably be the best eShop rep if Sakurai wants a similar sort of character to what Fat Princess was to PSASBR. I'd be annoyed if he got in over all of my absolute wants though, but after Mac/Palutena/Ridley he'd be a neat, left-field character to go with.

His moves would probably be a mix of Sonic's rolls with Snake's ranged-weapons, if I'm remembering his game correctly.

It'll have an adventure mode, but I think they've heavily implied it won't be a SSE2. Chances are that jungle stage in the E3 trailer Mario was running around in by himself is a part of whatever the new adventure mode is. People keep saying is a DKCR stage, but it doesn't look like anything from DKCR beyond having some green in it.

As disappointing as SSE was, I really question how many games you've played if it's the worst thing you've ever played. It's worst crime is it's just really, really boring more than anything else.

Found the game kind of repetitive but I love his design. I'd be happy to have him be a playable character.

Yeah, the game was boring to me but Dillon's design and the western theme were really cool.

edit: And I just remembered, Sakura Samurai was cool. His colors can be a Takamaru alt.

I'm starting to think we're not going to get much of the way in new characters this time around. I'll be surprised if there are more than 10 newcomers this game.

We already know of Megaman, Villager and Wii-Fit trainer...so I'd expect about 7 more.

It still baffles me how many people complained when that news first came out, despite complaining about SSE to begin with.

Perhaps because they were disappointed in how the SSE was executed, and wanted to see a story mode done better?

I'm not one of those people though, I'd far prefer to have resources dedicated to more characters than a lame "expansive" story mode I'll only play once and promptly forget about, no matter how good it turns out.

Don't know why everyone wants Melee Adventure Mode Part II. That was boring as shit to me. At least SSE had cool cutscenes. I would love to see him take another shot at a Subspace-level single player mode, but do it right this time.

I don't get it either.

" its themed like the games"

that doesn't make it good, its just a festive pile of poop. I don't quite understand it, brawl isn't the best campaign but it was certainly a step up from melee.

I honestly think the rumoured Pacman little mac mii trio will be it. Mewtwo will also return but Snake wont return.

Hope im wrong!!!

During Melee's time it seemed like every gaming outlet complained about Melee's adventure mode. It was boring and all everyone did was complain about how it needed to be bigger with an actual story.

After Brawl came out with those 2 "key" things, Subspace became a greater evil and all of a sudden it's like people have forgotten that there was absolutely nothing special about Melee's adventure mode. In comparison it was shorter and thus more tolerable but it wasn't good by any means.

Focus on modes that we can compete with for high scores, I don't want to see any Melee or Brawl style Adventure mode at all.

I'm shocked you people aren't understanding the criticism.

The problem with SSE's mode is that it's boringly designed. The levels were far from interesting and it generally felt repetitive and lifeless. The levels also drag for way too long. It was one of the most boringly designed platformers. It was all style and no substance. Not to mention everything felt slow. Ugh

At this point, I want to go back to Melee's approach but make every single level an Adventure stage this time (like the Mario, Zelda, F-Zero levels).

I'd much rather go back to Melee's Adventure Mode than to ever ever replay Subspace. Subspace was sooooooooo dead boring the 2nd time, I could barely get even 10% way in before giving up for good. Meanwhile I can still replay Melee's Adventure mode a bunch of times. Honestly, I think I only enjoyed SSE the first time because of the novelty and the insane hype I had for the game.

Dillon for Smash. He's a new character from a new game and worthy too!

And hey, since when has game quality ever affected being part of Smash? We got Pit after all!

If SSE wasn't a platformer I think it would have been a bit more enjoyable. If Adventure Mode really was a full massive action packed cross over game w/ the entire roster it could be epic, but that'd be way too much work.

Aside from the nightmarish enemies and generic levels, SSB makes for a weird platformer. It was frustrating fighting non-playable character enemies considering how combat wasn't balanced for that type of gameplay. It also sucked to get knocked around on this levels since the camera wouldn't zoom out that far most of the time. Running around with high damage was just a pain.

Melee's adventure mode still consisted of mostly traditional fights. It didn't need to stretch itself out to a ridiculous degree like The Great Maze from SSE. Even if I liked the rest of SSE, it would've been boring running back through similar looking areas. It was like that Zelda triforce dungeon from Melee, but 100x worse.

Some of the cutscenes and scenarios for SSE were neat, but half of them revolved around original (nightmarish) enemies and the creepy/weird Brawl universe where the characters know they're trophies and fight for the entertainment of faceless crowds, and Dedede has medals that turn trophies back into people... ugh.

Having Nintendo themes in a game built on the concept of fanservice is a big deal. If there's going to be considerable story elements to the adventure mode, keep it shorter and sweeter like in Melee. If you go all out, let me see familiar heroes team up to fight familiar villains with a story that just mixes established Nintendo universes, then at the end you can introduce the new surprise villain (which should be the kid from SSB64 playing make believe, something far less creepy than whatever the fuck Tabuu was).

This level of Nintendo crossover doesn't happen anywhere else; we don't need a new universe and new enemies to make it special. Just seeing Star Fox team up with Samus is enough to make it cool. There's so much source material for sora to pull from an da lot of characters, enemies and places fans would want to see in the game. No one voted for this thing on any fan poll:

Complete agree with you, Spring-Loaded. There was SOOOO much potential given the type of game it is and they didn't do it at all. It's so disappointing.

And yeah... Tabuu was kind of lame. I felt they took it too serious.

Get rid of the cheap generic enemies and just put Nintendo stuff in there like Melee, then more importantly, give you the option to do the "adventure" mode online co op. Also boss battle mode co op if there's going to be boss battles. A co op alternative Event Match too.

Pretty much what I want also.

Guys, if Sonic get's a second rep it needs to be Knuckles. Clearly!

I'm surprised it took as long as it did for someone to say this. Shadow and Knuckles would have the most variety for their movesets without getting too ridiculous.

I do wish that Sakurai would change his mind about a story with cutscenes though. It doesn't have to be SSE but stories in fighting games are generally pretty interesting.

Replace Shadow with Tails then I'd agree with you. I do so want to glide with Knucklehead though.

I seriously just want Krystal in Smash. She's the only Starfox member who could get a cool alternate moveset with the staff.

Final Destination should go full circle and be the first destination of Smash: the desk from the N64 intro.

Oh and imagine the anger of the Internet if the final Smash character is an enemy from SSE.

Who says she would be using the staff if she were to be put in? Her most recent depictions didn't have her use it, and she also only used it in the tutorial of one single game - Fox had it longer than Krystal did. :P

Frankly, I'd rather have ANY other polearm user over yet another Star Fox character.

It wasn't really a platformer though. The screen constantly locked and forced you to beat enemies to progress. Although that's a mechanic in Kirby at times, it's not a consistent recurring one through almost all levels, unlike in Subspace Emissary. Subspace Emissary was basically a beat'em up.

The only place where that mechanic wasn't used was the Great Maze, but that had the whole "fight against all characters again" mechanic.

The best way to replay Subspace is to play through the stages in a finished game, not go through the story again. That way, you have free character selection, and no cutscenes breaking up the level's pacing.

Pretty much. Just make her staff an item and call it a day. Then everyone can go on Starfox adventures.

Name one that isn't a Starfox character and then we can start negotiations.

This person right here.

Okay so we don't need anymore Fire Emblem characters either.
Still would rather have instead of Krystal though.

Palutena, Medusa and Eggplant Wizard from Kid Icarus, several Fire Emblem characters (e.g. Ephraim from Sacred Stones if you wanna keep it as lords), Mia and Jenna from Golden Sun.
Also, sorta Bowser Jr. and Kamek.
