just got flower after seeing some positive things about it

gyro controls take a little getting used to, but it's true what they say: so relaxing

Were that to be true, Dragon's Crown would be the top spot in the opposite list it currently occupies.

The funny thing is that our opinions are opposite even when consensus sides with one or another, because I for one think that Guacamelee is overrated (way more style than substance or variety) and definitely lightyears behind the better Metroidvanias. That this may be the case with Tearaway as well is what I'm concerned about.

I'm not really enjoying Guacamelee (despite appreciating the designers trying to do something different) but Tearaway is something special.

Hi Vitagaf.

I beat p4g today. 67 hours on the button. Now I'm downloading p3p. My life is over. But it's totally okay.

I just don't get it why Flower doesn't give you the option to use buttons and sticks for the controls (also for the PS3 version).

It is just my problem, I am allergic to touch and gyro controls. I am not a Wii-man.

After playing through Velocity, trying to get into 3D games (uncharted and soul sacrifice specifically) just seems really lame. Think I need to find another arcade-y type of game. Stardust Delta seems like it should be my first option.

Delta is a gen. I highly recommend it.

I agree that the flower controls can be annoying and initially I wanted duel stick controls but after thinking a little more about it, I think it would make an already simplistic game almost totally passive.

Should I even bother to open my $20 copy of Tearaway? I've heard it isn't very good.

That's odd, I've heard nothing but praise. The only aspect in which it's lacking seems to be its length, which doesn't have to be an issue if you don't like long games anyway. In any case it won't overstay its welcome.

I'm ordering my Vita tomorrow night. Shall be my main Christmas present. This will be the first handheld I've got for Christmas since my GBA SP! Very excited. 10 days can't pass soon enough, my parents are very strict that the 25th is the earliest we open presents :P

And the fact it will be getting delivered here is all the worse.

Just got back from seeing the Madoka movie a second time. Mmm, so good. Can't wait for Battle Pentagram to ship out in a few days. Hopefully it arrives before Christmas.

OLED Burn in... i mean just the risk that it happens. Its a new one.

There's going to be splotches noticeable during low lighting too, which is an inherent issue with the OLED screens as far as I can tell. That said, I think the OLED looks great most of the time.

What games would you get with the 1000?

Masterballs, do yourself a favour, set up a PSN account and buy spelunky while it's on sale:

http://store.sonyentertainmentnetwork.com/

Oh is that the UK bundle? Sale ended but it's worth full price when you get it!

Spelunky isn't on sale in the EU store, or at least not anymore :'( I already have a PSN account, think I bought like... one PS1 classic on my old preowned PSP, so I have that to look forward to. Best game ever though, Mickey's Wild Adventure. Rock solid platforming, hard as nails designed by David Jaffe. I advise any Disney fan look into it, it's gorgeous too.

The OLED screen better be damn good after how much shit my supposedly inferior 3DS has got ;(

Unless you plan on using it to browse the internet for hours and hours at a time with no breaks for games or just breaks...hell yeah OLED. Games would be a nice bonus.

No worries, the game is worth an extra fiver anyway and yeah OLED is magic. Magic has some technical issues under certain conditions, but that's nothing for the magic imo.

Yeah heard it and saw it myself. The Burn in thing is uglier.

So only the browser does that? Good then its Vita 1000.

Ordering PS Vita 2000 without OLED Issues or PS Vita 1000 with OLED Issues and 10 Games?

Ten games seems like a pretty good deal. Though, is this the mega pack bundle you're talking about? I got that one and personally only liked LBP and Wipeout (which is still a good deal though). Not into that semi top down racing of Motorstorm RC. Mind that Ratchet and Clank is a PSP game, and Frobisher Says and Ecolibrium are free by default if I'm not mistaken (Lemmings too?), the other ones I didn't try.

You'll still need a memory card for either choice.

OLED looks great, but I will be going for the 2K myself. Apart from the screen and the lack of shiny borders, it looks like it's got some pleasant improvements. The slightly longer battery life and that the battery can be replaced is cool.

I hate the internal console war between the OLED Vita and the LCD Vita...

If people are getting the LCD Vita, more power to you... Great catalogue of games and the new vita model has a number of advantages over the first model.

Picked up Tearaway at GameStop today, and I'm looking forward to firing it up. Dragon's Crown has been stealing all of my Vita time. It's by far the best game I've played on the system, and one of the best games I've ever played on any handheld ever.

I considered picking up a copy of the PS3 version, but I can't see myself playing it on a console, tethered to a TV.

Also dabbled in Soul Sacrifice thanks to PS+ and look forward to playing Sonic Racing All Stars this month!

I've only seen this photo for the burn in from google:

That's the bar from the web browser. Now the browser is good so don't be afraid of using it. A lot of us use it. I haven't read anyone mention anything...It shouldn't be an issue. Only for static images left for a very long time. I play wipeout speed laps for hours at time and the GUI overlay hasn't burnt into my screen or anything like that. OLED rocks!

Yeah its the Mega Pack. And im only interested in LBP Wipeout and Motorstorm. The rest is meh.

Hmm just as a casual outsider looking in, that "10 games" is sneaky because it's 2 Vita games and then a few apps and PSP titles. Tut tut, much rather Tearaway & LBP.

Tearaway and Persona 4 will be mine after buying the vita.

My wife got me a vita and p4g, acL, KZM, and ff7! We had to exchange gifts early due to family stuff, but enough of that what should I start first?

I'll give you the exact opposite advice - save the best for last. :) Play through AC:Liberation and Killzone Mercs first, as they ain't that long and then take your time to dive into the jrpg godness that is P4G.

Yeah its the Mega Pack. And im only interested in LBP Wipeout and Motorstorm. The rest is meh.

There is a option in Motorstorm (not sure about Wipeout) to reduce the opacity of the UI. This should save you the worry about it burning in.

The only place this "war" is happening is Japan. I'd be surprised if they ever bring it out over here, they must have a surplus of 1000 models for the US and Euro markets given how few units move every month.

...this is a joke, right?

Hmm that puts it in a little bit of a box that I think it breaks out from. It is a 3D platformer, but there's more to it. It's really a great experience.

Dude, I love 3D platformers ;)

Should I get a PS+ sub? There's some excellent games on offer this month, and to be honest it's like laying groundwork for the PS4, what with Remote Play too.

Hey I'd love another Vita 2000 to complement my 1000, maybe...but I wouldn't miss out on OLED though (now that I've gotten used to it)...Didn't know about the replaceable battery though. Pretty good for longterm. Might try and hold out for a vita legendary edition.

Take your time with Tearaway, don't rush through it looking for a challenge but enjoy the world. Also the camera really is fantastic, most fun I've had with one in a game since Pokemon Snap. They should have had a photobook with a list of things to snap.

J&D I is a bit choppy or low framerate or something janky but damn is it fun. First time I played it too.

Honestly, it would be crazy not to. A year of PS+ is barely more than the price of one Vita game, and you'll have two new games to play every month, as well as cloud saves for all games.

It's not. Had a blast playing J&D on Vita.

Hate Jak II in general, so can't really comment, but full price for portable J&D was worth it for me.

Well, I mean, your own experienced will vary, but I personally didn't enjoy playing a game that was 60fps on ps2 at 20-25fps average with a very low resolution and juddery unnatural right-stick camera movement, but maybe my standards are too high.

I have absolutely zero idea what to expect with Tearaway. All I know is Amazon usually charges £50+ more for inferior titles and lesser memory cards.

What's the advantages of the 2000? Battery life?

Good to know though. Jak II is janky for sure, but I love it!

I heard people say the battery life is only like an hour extra? An extra hour of vita is pretty sweet but it's 100% lcd...Although it does look like a decent screen.

Just head to the Portable Console Screenshot Thread here to see comparison shots between the 3DS and the Vita.

Now, take those gorgeous Vita shots and imagine them in high density 5 inch size, in motion and with the most gorgeously saturated colors you can think of. No screenshots do that OLED justice.

So yeah, it's damn good.

Yeah. I mean, honestly I would be all on board with the 2000 if it weren't for the front face not being completely covered in acrylic, resulting in a weird bezel thing aroundt he screen and cheap looking plastic around the left and right sides of the face, and it would be hard to move away from the OLED. However, I love the sides and back, with the redesigned touchpad and bigger grips, and the micro USB charger. Extra hour of battery life, too.

Overall the 1000 just looks a lot more premium.

Am I the only one that liked the Batman game?

I mean, the map is garbage which really hurts a game about... exploration. But if they had a more Metroid Prime-y map (ie; 3D), then I'd have no real problem with the game, other than the ugly cape.

Soak up your 3DS now...

Hey! There is no favorite child here! :P

How to tell someone hasn't used a Vita: they tell you OLED is overrated. Last night a friend kept insisting that OLED wasn't any better than LED.

Only a couple more days until Runner 2 and Mutant Mudds! I'm glad I held off on the 3DS version of Mudds, because it will probably look AMAZING on the Vita screen.

Hey! There is no favorite child here! :P

Haha, 3DS has some good qualities, but that screen quality is not one of them :P

But...colours!
