Personally:

- Killzone
- Guacamelee
- Hotline Miami
- Sound Shapes

Those are the titles that I played that really made the vita *click* with me this year.

An honourable mention to Kung Fu Rabbit which I know is a silly little game but I've played loads of it; it makes me laugh and the latter levels have been kicking my ass :)

Caveat: I haven't played Tearaway yet.

The Worm level is kinda bad in Spelunky, framerate drops hard :(
Same goes sometimes in the water heavy jungle levels.

Still playable but a bit annoying. Otherwise i'm pretty happy with it, Spelunky on the go or in the bed before going to sleep at this price (it was like 1 euro cheaper on steam recently) is a godsend. Can't wait for Isaac : Rebirth.

The Vita 2000s should've done what the new 3DS LLs do. The "inner face" is still black, but the buttons have the same colour as the "outer face". Like so:

Somehow it makes a world of difference! Or, at least, the bases of the buttons should be coloured on the V2000s, since the buttons themselves are transparent.

At least their approach with Vita 2000 leaves them room to make the Vita 3000 fully colored! :)

I just realized that we didn't get any limited edition Vita in America since lasts year :[

Sad right? But not surprising. I'm seriously considering getting that SoulSac red Vita to have as an OLED backup. It looks so good.

Portable Isaac! Shit, I keep remembering upcoming games that make me glad I'm getting one of these things. Even just portable Minecraft and Isaac is going to be insaaaane.

I finally GOT Lumines. Like, I've played it a few times but I finally really understand it. It's really awesome. I got my highest score by far of ~22,000, which I know isn't GOOD, but I just figured it out so I am looking forward into getting better.

Haven't gotten to the worm stage level - is it each time (or just certain scenarios)? Still okay...not too heavy?

I've ran into slowdown in the jungle a few times when there is a big water pool especially yeah.

Love this game. Need some competition for my top score though. (It should be actually double that but for some reason it reverted :'( ). Still, doesn't seem right.
The challenge levels are actually pretty awesome, shame there is no platinum but they are worth doing anyway - only short amounts of time but it forces you to come up with patterns to get the requirements in time...gets a bit crazy for stage 5 though.
Making your own playlist is awesome once you're familiar with the skins too. Shame they didn't have more as DLC but there are great ones.
Great game. Should play it more myself but each session I'm locked in for like 2 hours.

Worm level is constantly affected by low framerate from what i experienced. Honestly i try to avoid it but it's manageable.

Argh...maybe we can squeeze another patch out of them somehow...

OHH the wormhole -
Is that when those squidgy things that hold you in the air transform into a massive worm? I ran away the only time it happened for me...is that the gateway?

wait, daily challenge score is how much money you had when you died or how much you've collected all game?

When you've died so don't go spending so much :P

I'd get Terraria on sale for sure, got the 360 trial and it didn't appeal to me too much I must say.

This is also a really sneaky megathread you sly gooses!

Better in your hand and with others in party chat helping you get started.

Also - we can't help it, people just ask here and it's just quicker to answer here. All we make sure to do is make new threads for new info, make the monthly thread nice.

Sony's lack of special editions in general is annoying. PS3, PSP, PS Vita, PS4 will probably be stuck with black for the entire generation.

Sucks. Colors and designs are cool Sony. Stop being lame.

And the reason that I still am impressed by this game to this day (for PS2 and PS3) is because of its consistent quality throughout the experience (i.e. framerate, graphics, charm, etc.). It sounds like the vita version may not meet my expectations, shame. :\

Thanks for the feedback
Graphics were fine by me, looked great in my opinion. Charm remained, framerate had issues early on in particular the beach opposite the entrance to that area. Otherwise it was fine.

Just try it for yourself, otherwise you'll never really know if you can enjoy it or not.

And I platinum'd the game on Vita.

Still ironic how the worst issue of the game isn't even repeated by people that bitch about the game here either. Guess they all didn't bother to finish the game either, reviews never mention it either (at least not the ones I read). You can't grab moving platforms, you just slide off. Particularly a problem at the final stage. But it just gets you in a different, more precise frame of mind so you land dead center on platforms. Rather than 'whatever, if I miss I can grab it'. So it didn't really bother me, still an issue though.

Japan always gets the best hardware and the rest of the world gets screwed. Cannot even explain how happy I was when Nintendo announced the Animal Crossing XL would be coming to the US. 3DS has the most console color choice since the GBA.

The things I would've done for that Xillia PS3.

Today's sale is:
The Walking Dead (PS Vita)
Was €19.99/AU$24.95/£14.99, now €9.99/AU$14.95/£6.99
Additional 10% discount for PS Plus members

Damn. Sucks that I missed this, but I should be content with Terraria, Knytt, Spelunky and Guacamelee DLC this Christmas. I'd love to try Terraria with some friendly non-randoms, so feel free to hit me up over the holiday period (same ID as on here).

Does anyone still play Monster Hunter Freedom Unite? I decided to play it the other day after a long break and got addicted again. I'd love to play online (ad-hoc party app) with someone.

If there's a way to transfer saves from my PSP copy then I may get back to you ;)

Anyone here have a Twitter account? I'll follow any of my fellow VitaGaffers.

I'll gladly follow any GAFfers who fancy following me.

Having some fun just now with a paper goomba:

Haha, he does not look impressed.

I forgot that Joe Danger 2 and Joe Danger the Movie are coming to vita early next year...

Don't really give a monkey's about the franchise but I remember trying JD2 through PS+ on the PS3 and thinking this would be a lot more fun on the go.

60fps and no forced touch controls, apparently.

Cool. Will never play JD on the ps3, but it is perfect on a portable .

And it's six places ahead of the PS3 version. I guess portability is a big selling point.

Of course it is. Japan is moving towards handhelds/mobile

Combine that with arguably one of the best FFs and a very beloved FF title, it's a recipe for success.

Sony was smart to push SE to make a FFX vita port. In the end it will pay off for the both of them.

Of course, I shouldn't really look into this because it's just some danky ass Amazon sales chart, but I can help it by being very very happy.

Man, Gravity Rush shows that open world games can work on Vita... even though It's not native res. I'll take not native and 30fps for open-world any day.

ya'll just can't handle the deep & intricate storyline about a giant whale and his son who's a underwater sports star that Square has blessed us with.

Now now, FFX is about a lot of things, but it is not about a whale and underwater football. Though it does happen to have both at the same time.

toukiden in physical?

here i thought it was US amazon for a second...no physical :/

I might bite.

Need for Speed: Most Wanted too.

man... guess I should just buy Jill and Shuma Gorath too
I'm feeling kinda bummed I didn't buy the LE for Muramasa when it was on sale at Amazon

FFX Vita in the top 10 for amazon

soooo happy~

It's definitely great to see the Vita Twin Pack tracking on the top 10 of Amazon Japan. Btw. The PS3 version was always tracking one or two spots above the Vita one, but it fell a few positions because Amazon no longer offers a discount for it.

With so many niche games getting physical releases.. Square just have to the same for FFX/2 right?

This is square enix we are talking about.

The price point for the PS3 version in the west pretty much made that impossible.

Pretty much what Takao says. Prices in Japan (¥ 7,140 ~ $70) make the Vita versions possible. But trying to achieve price parity here in the west at $40 will be almost impossible, especially with the cost of two carts in one package. I have no idea what solution SE will find for this. They will have to either: a) Offer X-2 as digital only. b) Go digital only for the entire collection c) Charge more for the Vita Twin Pack than for the PS3 version or d) Earn almost nothing if they go physical and charge $40 for it.

@suppadoopa: did you order the japanese Twin Pack? I managed to preorder it from Nippon Yassan. Can't wait for the 26th.

The music in spelunky is soooooo good.

Of all the things in Spelunky that surprised me it's how dam good the music sounds and how wonderfully it fits with the game.

So I'm currently at school and don't have access to wifi on my Vita. Which is fine, I would normally just download my games through my PS3.
I recently upgraded to a PS4 where there really isn't any Vita storefront integration. Any idea when that'll arrive? Hopefully sooner rather than later.

Just use any web browser and purchase your vita games usjing the SEN website. Your PS4 can do the same.
