So two weeks ago I started skimming GAF from work occasionally. Didn't take them long to do something about it apparently.
Oh well back to work.

Ps. No NeoGAF.net doesn't work either, anyway it would probably suffer the same fate in two weeks too.

Could it be that the blocking software used by all your employers is the same, and it got an update or something like that? I'm pretty sure that's how SonicWall works.

If you're at work right now, but you've found a way to be on here via phone or whatever... what's the issue?

yea same for me. No neogaf.net either. Thankfully I can surf w/ the phone

I've always wondered why people suggest using your phone to browse gaf. That's even worse because the phone makes you look like an unproductive fool. Browsing on a computer and being able to quickly alt-tab out is the ideal combo. When gaf was blocked at my old job, I was the saddest panda alive

Did you try the IP? there is an IP address that points to GAF

GAF doesn't use an IP since the feds shut it down because the owner was trying to put out a hit on someone using Bitcoins. I read it on GAF a few months back using TOR. The other co-owner of GAF, Goodstories, is still on a lamb riding through the European countryside.

Where do you guys work that you have time to browse GAF?

My lunches and breaks? Otherwise I'm working, like I'm supposed to be. We have another wifi for guest use that doesn't have it blocked, I'm assuming that I can still use it there. Otherwise, my phone and the mobile site. It's not a big deal, just interesting that there's more people getting hit like this.. I've been surfing GAF for 5 years on my computer at work.

Go to preferences and turn gifs and images off.

get more bandwidth/turn off gifs on the mobile site

You can turn off images....
Mind blown thanks guys.

True. I cannot sit here with my smartphone all the time.

And downtime during compilation and simulation has to be filled with something.

I'm in adv. sales so I can browse GAF while I'm on the phone. Its a small company of ~25 people and my boss is old/hasn't embraced new technology so I doubt we'll ever have web blockers. Right now most of us are trying to convince the boss why we all need to upgrade our Windows XP software, but she isn't buying.

I don't know what I'd do if gaf were blocked at work. It's not a job that gives you the freedom to dick around doing nothing a lot, but it's nice to be able to squeeze in some gaf here and there to decompress and mentally unwind. Even having our phone out is a big no-no, so I pray they never catch on and block this site.

I use a tablet these days. Doesn't look as unproductive as using a mobile phone, plus you can get pretty decent data plans on the cheap.

At my job it's the other way around. They blocked off pretty much everything game related but oddly enough not NeogGAF ( thank the gods ! ).
I suspect someone at our IT is a secret gaffer and didn't want to ruin his 'work environment'.

just to make sure...

I too thought neogaf.net was blocked but then I found out that you're supposed to type

neogaf.net/forum

Might give it a shot....

When I worked at gamestop, they often had browser links to various gaming news to allow us to keep informed about what was going on to excite customers.

It didn't take me long to figure out how to break out of the content filter, and surf neogaf or facebook. After a while, they figured it out, and the fun was gone.

www.megaproxy.com is a free browser based proxy, you get a daily limit, but Neogaf sans images should not trouble that. You can't login, browse only.

You can install tunnelbear.com which gives you an IP tunnel with 300mb free a month, you can login and post using this, but need to be able to install the software on your work PC.

Use Windows Remote Desktop to log in to another PC and browse neogaf from there. There is a hack to enable Remote Desktop on all flavours of Windows 7. http://www.raymond.cc/blog/enable-remote-desktop-connection-in-windows-7-home-premium/. No need to install anything on your work PC, but IT may have disabled the Remote Desktop program. There are alternatives like Splashtop and TeamViewer, but I'm not familiar with them. Google Chrome also has Remote Desktop features in a beta release.

If you are really desperate then you can use the Google search cache to browse, a bit of a pain, because each thread requires a new search before you can access. Sometimes just changing the thread page number in the search cache URL works. For example http://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?q=cache:www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=735041

Another avenue I haven't explored yet is hosting proxy software on a Wordpress blog, see guide here: http://lamp.sangkrit.net/2012/07/14/make-your-own-proxy-site-using-wordpress/

Finally I believe NeoGaf could help us all if they enabled HTTPS on the site. That is often a good way through a firewall as all the traffic is encrypted.
