Two yeezus and two Drakes songs in the top 20. cmon now pitchfork.
Pitchfork posted their top 100 tracks. They put Drake's "Hold On, We're Going Home" at #1, and let's be honest here, that track is overrated as fuck. It's just not that great. Not only that, Holy Ghost's! cover of it is so much better.

I'd post the whole list, but I can't access the site at work. My favorite track of the year came in at a whopping 93rd. James Murphy's remix of David Bowie's "Love is Lost".
Reading this thread has put me on to a few good albums that passed me by during the year (really liking CHVRCHES at the moment).
Seen as most people in this thread have reasonable taste in music, I'm wondering what people are using to discover new music. Are there particular music sites/blogs that people recommend?
I haven't put a top 10 together - I've only listened to maybe 15-20 albums this year and am not sure that I have 10 I can enthusiastically get behind.
making songs lists is hard but I don't how they pick the worst song for both julia holter and darkside.
and where the fuck is fragment two by these new puritans?
edit: they also chose one of the worst savages songs. I like pitchfork but sometimes I just shake my head and wonder what's going on there.
My list of favorite tracks won't include a Darkside track mainly because I think that whole album needs to be listened to at once, and not just one track at a time. I don't even really think any of the tracks stick out that much regardless.
Paper Trails and Golden arrow do?
I mean I guess they could, but I just consider all of those songs apart of a great whole. It's like Tim Hecker's album is probably going to be in my top 3 as well, but I wouldn't pick any songs off that album as one of my favorites because I consider it as a part of the album itself. Maybe I'm just weird :\
Darkside did a live set for KEXP here a few weeks back that you duders might enjoy.
Representing people with no taste in music...![]()
big ups for the emika nod, des
What makes people like King Krule more than Willis Earl Beal? Krule is clearly has more fans but I think WEB music is more interesting and I like his voice more. I don't have anything against King Krule, just curious.
I don't like Willis Earl Beal's backing music nearly as much and his mood is more inconsistent.
Just let my grab my scarf and beret and I'll be there.
Darkside is soooo bad guys, it's like baby's first electronica for people who think electronica is a thing
...Not in order, just gotta cut these in half and write reviews now : P

01 | Cloudkicker | Subsume
Man, if you're not listen to Cloudkicker by now, you're seriously doing something wrong. For the sadly uniniated, Cloudkicker is the reclusive one-man project of Columbus, Ohio-based mastermind Ben Sharp. Ben doesn't tour and hell, he puts all his music up for free, building rave reviews and a huge fanbase simply by word of mouth. And my god, what music it is. Merging post-metal and progressive metal in an purely instrumental way, his albums are a treat and Subsume is no exception. He builds layers upon distorted and sundrenched layers is such a manner that its hard to tell if I should go nuts, chill out, or just stand in awe. Either reaction works. Working in bizzare time signatures and with extended range instruments, this album is such a piece of preciscion engineering, like a multi-million dollar warplane, yet in not devoid of that lonely soul. Sun drenched, raindrenched, and agressive. It's like the mind of an engineering trying to cope with his inner struggles, and it all spills out in such a complex atmosphere. This is the album of the year for me. End of story. So good. If you've never heard of Cloudkicker, you've got no reason not go check this album and the rest of Mr. Sharp's catalogue out: It's pay-what-you-want and absolutely facinating.

Seriously does everyone just put RAM in as a filler album from 5-10 when they don't know what else to put? *runs*
