I hope they alter glides. It's hard to make it happen and they're broken for the most part.

Question, what's the general consensus on release date? 2014 for sure, right? Spring, summer, fall or winter?
There is no consensus but I wouldn't expect better than winter.
you're strange for two reasons
1. being pissed about something so dumb
2. being pissed about something you're not even aware is the norm
We have no fucking clue. Rumors have it at May, people are reasonably expecting it in Fall or most likely winter right around the holidays.
It's even more hard to predict seeming as how both versions will probably release at different times.

I wish Nintendo could have kept Banjo or something. That's the only character I feel that was robbed at a chance in Smash Brothers.

We've seen Mario's, Samus', what appears to be Wii Fit Trainers', so seems so.
We haven't seen any others as far as I recall, so I wouldn't be surprised if they change some up (like DK's horrible one)

Yeah they're back, or at least what has been shown gives very strong support of this. I'm recalling off the top of my head, but only Samus and Wii Fit Trainer have had their finals shown.
We saw Samus' in the first trailer, didn't we? Plus the Smash Ball is in Villager's promotional art.

What's stopping Nintendo from using Banjo, Conker and Joanna Dark as "3rd party" characters? I mean, in reality it's as absurd as Snake, especially with the fact that Rare still made GBA/DS games anyway. Likewise like Snake, I don't think it would work particularly for or against either party. Nintendo weren't scared of people rushing out to buy a PS3 for the next Metal Gear.
Plus, in the "gaming world" (to you and me) they wouldn't feel like third party characters anyway, so I wouldn't see it as Smash having 7 third party slots taken up when I look at the character select screen. They would fit right in (as long as Nintendo are allowed to design them how they wish).
So, realistically, whats stopping Nintendo and Microsoft from putting rivalry aside for a second, and for the good of the gaming world using these three characters as third party ones? Isn't it a win-win situation?
