It has been long time since I have been as engrossed to one anime series. Only downside is that I am feeling pretty damn empty right now as I have no episodes to watch anymore. Not a single bad episode in whole series. Bravo.

I put off the final two episodes of this partly because of life things but mostly because the has been so good I didn't want it to end. And what an end it was! Definitely share the sentiments that its the best Space Opera in a long time. It will be high on my list come AOTY time.

This is more of a commentary on the crew than the episode: This is the last group of fuckups that I'd ever want to go to war with. At least Amuro was a genius; These people have no fucking idea what they are doing. They don't know how the ship works and they don't even want to know.

I'm not entirely sure what you mean here. The crew of the Yamato are all exceedingly competent (sometimes ridiculously so in the case of Kodai) and they know how their ship works at least.

I find it interesting that nobody here is figured out the secret to Yamato 2199 yet, the reason why it feels so different from a lot of other works is because this is a remake of one of the greatest space operas of all time. It has been kind of cheating in that regard, but it is also good to see this updated for the modern era while retaining those throwback sensibilities that make it feel so different then anything else on the market. Though this is also the reason why I think Gundam Build Fighters and Gatchaman Crowds are the better titles because they can stand alone and they use the old icons to build something for the modern era. I would not call Yamato a pointless remake, but I would not call it a needed one either.

Your line of argument would only make sense if Yamato 2199 was some kind of shot for shot remake ala Psycho but that's not the case here at all. While they obviously take the overall story conceit, characters and some plots from the original show, at least for a handful of episodes, 2199 brings a huge amount of new material to the table in terms of characterisation, setting, world building and actual story development. It's a superior show all round compared to the original and a far richer one too.

It should be. Aniplex USA confirmed Nisekoi and World Conquest ages ago. So both will be streamed, likely on CR, Daisuki, and Hulu.

So I want to watch an anime. My problem is that I often find anime to get a bit too quirky and (for lack of better word) "offtrack" toward what it should be.

For example I LOVED the first seven episodes of Panty & Stocking, however when it switched from being a mature comedic Powderpuff Girls to a slice of life show or some sexual adult comedy it turned me off. I feel like I would enjoy Kill La Kill if it took itself more seriously and didn't have the main character's uniform of that of a stripper.

Anybody know of any good recommendations?

Felt like watching some more of this, and it's pretty enjoyable. The Glasses Club guys are charming, funny, flamboyant, and there's just the added pinch of emotion on top to bring a smile to my face. Plus there's the whole homoerotic undertones thing, if you're into that.



I wasn't expecting the pro-tier slapstick sequence.

Two if its episodes are really excellent in emotion and drama. Really some of her best storytelling since This Boy Can Fight Aliens and its Robotics Robotica story. Definitely worth watching, though assuming you even read this post.

Turns out Kaiki's plan didn't work! Because Nadeko is crazy and crazy people don't fool with sane people logic. Or maybe because he tried to convince her that a vampire living in a shadow died in a car crash. Also Ononoki's suggestion that Kaiki has actually been trying to help Senjougahara from the moment he met her is a terrifyingly believable concept.

Its interesting that these writers have deliberately chosen to keep the couples separated. Even superhero couples get to spend more time together than this lot.

That's what happens when a couple still have to work and grow up a little before they can live together. At least both writters have stated that it's not a problem for both couple as they have decided to live together later.
