It would be worth the weeklong ban to make that thread's title.Pic of the Day: Watch out for Ridley during battles on the Pyrosphere! He's a stage hazard, all playable characters appear on the website!
Because characters in this game tend to be representations of all their forms rather than that of one game. Why can't Masked Link be a character in this game?
Imagine if Krystal really did get in though. Terrifying.

Why can't Masked Link be a character in this game? His regular form would essentially be Toon Link with some alterations, but Down+B would change into a cycle of his other forms ie; Goron, Deku, and Zora. Deku Link would be quick and nimble, Goron would be slow but powerful, and Zora would be in-between, all with their various attacks from Majora's Mask. Fierce Deity Link would be the Final Smash, obviously.
Was that Rosalina/Luma trailer all in-game or were some parts CGI?
Sorry to beat a dead horse, but damn does Link look off model in SmashU

At least his hair looks nice.
I really hope they fix this, I won't ever play as him with that face as I'd be too busy laughing and I'd lose stock. On the other side, if anyone ever faces me with that Link they'll always win because of that.
You probably won't get to really see his face that much though, zoomed out side view + quick gameplay solves stuff like that.
Heck I almost don't notice how absolutely horrible a lot of Brawl models are during gameplay.
... almost.
In 1080p I'll see everything...Everything.
Including the color of your soul.
Which is purple btw.
Exactly. What we will notice is the official artwork, which, thankfully, looks great. At least in my opinion. You probably won't get to really see his face that much though, zoomed out side view + quick gameplay solves stuff like that.

Needs more scarf.
What models in Brawl were bad? I honestly thought the visuals were pretty much the only thing that game had going for it over Melee. You probably won't get to really see his face that much though, zoomed out side view + quick gameplay solves stuff like that.

While incredibly unlikely, I think it would be cool if a smaller character was given a shot in Smash, like Dillion, Mallo, Pauline, Ashley or someone like that. WFT, Villager and Mii are all WTF characters to some extent, but also come from successful franchises. Would be nice to see something really left of field.

For me "Better than melee" doesn't qualify as actually looking good.
A lot of the dark muddy colours used on characters clashed ridiculously bad with the (vaguely) more colourful stages. Aside from that there's a bunch of graphic flaws that bug me to no end.
I'm not gonna list them all, but Wario's classic outfit simply having the fingerless gloves recoloured to white is disgusting.
Villager a WTF character? Lol smh.
Villager and Mii are not "WTF" characters. Animal Crossing is a popular Nintendo franchise and the Mii's are Nintendo's avatar. They have a strong presence on Wii, Wii U & 3DS. I don't really see why they're "WTF".
I've never noticed this and now that you pointed it out it still doesn't bother me.
It'd mean Ridley, Palutena, King K Rool & Waluigi are in too ...
I don't want that
I'd be pissed off if it was still that way in SSB4, it looks lazy to me.
The finger detailing is there on Mario's gloves too...
Yes.Needs more scarf.
What's wrong with Link's model? I think it looks great. It wouldn't make much sense at all to give him exact Twilight Princess textures, since the atmosphere and tone in Smash nearly completely contrasts the former. He looks great, fellas. Stop your nitpicking! ;o
Pit, on the other hand, needs some serious touching up.
His face. Just something feels so off about it. He looks a bit better in the latests shots in the Zelda update but that may be just the angle. This head on one isn't great. What's wrong with Link's model?
* When was I talking about textures? I was talking about how his face is completely fucked up.

Link's face is literally the worst thing about SSB4 right now.
This is honestly how I feel, lol, and I think that if the worst thing about it is one characters face that is a good sign.Link's face is literally the worst thing about SSB4 right now.

His nose in the early shots looks bad and in that one shot in the Zelda update his face looks chubby.I wonder how this bandwagon started, haha! His face looks fine to me. What about it is upsetting you guys? Is it the smooth features or is it something else?
"Texture" isn't a term exclusive to items or general material; Link's face, indeed, also hosts a texture.![]()
Well since it was one of the first shots we saw I'd say it started day one. I know I've always found that shot a bit weird.I wonder how this bandwagon started, haha! His face looks fine to me. What about it is upsetting you guys? Is it the smooth features or is it something else?
He also looks fine with my eyes closed.but at least he looks fine with his eyes closed!

Also when talking about video game graphics texture means one thing, and while yes every part of his character model has a texture on it the textures are not the problem, the problem is one of polygon placement.

Lolwut, Textures aren't composed of polygons, they are flat images that wrap around a polygonal surface.I would argue that polygons are what compose textures in the first place (in whatever dimension), but I'll just let this drop for now--technicalities aren't worth the trouble.
So, his face is too chubby for you guys? I don't know. Can everyone here honestly say Link in the below comparison looks worse than Pit?
Maybe I'm missing a specific shot you guys are referencing to, because all of his screens in the Zelda gallery also look completely fine to me. If there was a problem before, I'd say they've already gotten to resolving it.
Forget scarf Link. This character has all the scarf you'll ever need.

Also look at this.

I completely get what you mean, and maybe it's what you're talking about at the end... but I just want to nitpick at this for the sake of it. A polygon is always 2D, isn't it? They can exist in 3D space, and are used to make up the 3D models, but the triangle or quad itself will always be a flat, 2D shape. That's why we need so many.A polygon can be either two-dimensional or three-dimensional and, in respect, can be used to draw textures, shapes, and models alike. Textures wrap around shapes and models--yes--but polygons are what composes both. Common gamer discussion on polygon-count has no doubt added some distortion to the strict definition, but if you've dealt with even entry-level game design, you should understand how it operates.

Polygons are not used to draw textures. Textures are maps that are applied to polygons and do not have anything to do with them other than being mapped to them. I think I understand what you are trying to say, but textures are not polygons, they pretty much piggyback off of polygons.A polygon can be either two-dimensional or three-dimensional and, in respect, can be used to draw textures, shapes, and models alike. And as for the picture, I really don't see the issue. You don't like his face because its...? I honestly would even prefer the Smash render.

Anyways I don't see a point to continuing this discussion of Link's face with you since it will be me just repeating what I was saying on the last page.
1. His eyebrows in SSB4 seem to be lighter than his skin. this is gross.
2. His cheekbones are clearly less defined in that picture. I don't know if this is due to the texture or polygons but I'm sure this contributes to the "chubby face"-factor people mention.
If those two things got fixed, I'd have very few major issues with his face.
