On the subject of MH... It doesn't appeal to me at all. But I loved Soul Sacrifice, it had a story and some actual progression that didn't involve farming. I prefer grinding to improve my character, not farming to improve weapons. Though I didn't mind farming to improve my spells in SS since I actually enjoyed the gameplay and setting so much.
Gave Ragnarok Odyseey a fair shake and ended up not really enjoying it too much. If I could have improved base character stats I'd have enjoyed it more. I got stuck on a boss, and didn't feel like farming to improve equipment. Plus, no story worth a damn to keep me interested.
I'll give Toukiden a whirl though, because I like the art design. And you never know.
hello,
So it was a toss up between the 3ds or the Vita. It seems that I can get a better deal on a Vita then I can a 3ds so thats where I'm leaning too.
I'm still on the fence, but what all can the Vita do exactly? I know it sounds like a stupid question and even as I read various forums I'm still a bit unsure. Guess I just need that extra push.
I really a big JRPG guy, and I know the 3ds seems to be getting them, but with psn+ and ps1 classics it just seems to be a better choice.
Helps me out GAF
Apps (off the top of my head):
Twitter - great, though mentions are a bitch on it. Otherwise the app is perfect.
Facebook - lame, doesn't even work with a game open and has limited display and the UI is flawed.
Netflix - not in EU apparently and outdated anyway, no profiles and lacks the new UI, otherwise it'd be fine.
Foursquare - still don't even know what that is
tunein - neat free radio/music streaming app, not sure if it's out worldwide or just NA
Music Unlimited - subscription based, can stream music during gameplay not sure how well it works, can also store music locally for offline play and play music during most games that way
YouTube - Can't make comments anymore thanks to garbage+ change on YouTube, but it's a solid app. Though it needs free space on your memory card to play videos apparently. Some don't play if they're too long and you don't have enough space. Not sure why. Works during a game.
And random things...
Browser: Works great without anything else open (games). If a game is open, it usually has issues displaying stuff and will tell you to close the game to get it to load properly. Other times, it'll load up... but refresh over and over.
Remote Play: Meh on PS3 due to limited support. Great on PS4. Obviously depends on connection and if you have those.
PS Store: Great UI, currently no issues I can think of. Other than the download list, which is more a general PSN issue across every platform. Needs a friggin' cart though.
Cross game chat: Don't know how well this works, I don't use it or voice chat at all.
Trophies: Syncs fairly quickly and in the background while using the Trophy app.
Livearea: It's like a 'page' or 'board' per game (or app) that has various info on it. Links to DLC, other games, also standard are a refresh button, PS+ button for games (to easily upload/download saves manually), manual button, and some others I can't think of...
And for games, you can scroll down and see activity feed of what you're friends are doing. You can also see this on the 'Friends' app for everything in one place. (People adding friends, earning trophies, some games have specific content to push through, purchases you opt to share, ratings in the store you opt to share, etc.) I love that and check it religiously.
I think my favorite thing about Vita, is just being able to suspend games and open up something else. I always have Trophy, Game, and Twitter sitting there ready to open up. And the PS4's remote play app has been up lately. You can have what... six liveareas up and ready to open at any given time. The quick access is nice to have.
There haven't been too many plain ol' JRPGs on the system. A lot are dungeon crawlers or more niche stuff like Atelier. But with PSP + PSone Classics, it's still worth it. Plus... Persona 4: Golden is that good. And if you've never had a PSP, while not every worthwhile JRPG is on the PSN store, there are still a good amount on there to get to. Like Trails in the Sky~
