I have no interest in this. WWE has been very medicore over the last 7 years. Quit feeding the WWE machine and give some honest to goodness WRESTLING promotions a try like ROH and PWG.

lol ROH

PWG yes

AAW yes

NJPW yesssssssssssssss

And I like the WWE for as bad as they can be. Plus once they open up their old library, we can watch WCCW, NWA, AWA, and others. That will be great.

One, hello walking advertisement
Two, if it's been mediocre for 7 years, then just watch content from 8 years and more ago, the Network has everything on there.

Maybe the Audience will now become older, and they can change the product a little.
If I am 7 years old and Cena is my God, my parents would slap me if I asked them to pay $10.00 per month to watch him.

Maybe this is what we have all be waiting for, the death of the 3rd grader demographic.

At least i can hope.

I am not asking to go back to semi nudity and stuff like that, just a more mature product, that doesn't insult me all the time.

If you were 7 and you asked your parents for a Netflix subscription, what would they say?
How about a Hulu subscription?
What about MLB.tv?

Times are different now

Yeah but wrestling has a stigma attached to it. Watch it for free fine, but now pay for that garbage. Sorry son.

Get hype yall.

God the build to Mania 17 is going to suck without the My Way video =/

this is the greatest gif i've ever seen

Wow, even at $10 a month which to us seems really cheap (because it is), they're likely much better off than they would have been with a TV channel:

So for every 50 people who would have ordered the TV channel, they only need 1 person to subscribe to the streaming network and they make the same amount of money (minus a bit for bandwidth etc but for the sake of argument let's say they get the full $10).

That would have been 20 cents for every user at that tier. Maybe it was a really small plan that not many people have?

You underestimate how much money people are willing to dump for their kids. Besides, it's not like Raw and Smackdown are going to stop airing on TV. And, even if the younger demographic was to disappear, we would still probably get the dumb product we do now, just with more swearing & tits. The only thing that will force the WWE to change would be for a major competitor to appear and severely threaten their business, like WCW back in the '90s.

Well, TV just became available. Cable and Satellite need a Monday night wrestling show now.

Its time for WCW 2.0 baby.

It's odd that you would say "Seven Years". This image is from Seven Years ago:

2011-Now has been much better than the ~2005-2010 period

People have been paying for WWE PPV for years. If that family gets even one PPV every 6 months then getting this would pay for that plus all of the extra content.

This seems like a pretty good deal. I cancelled cable several years ago and only do the occasional ppv at a buddy's house.

Do we know if ppvs will no longer be able to be purchased via cable? Or are they only available on the new network?

And here's hoping for an eventual WiiU app otherwise I'll be getting a roku box. I'm not paying 50/year for Xbox live or psn to get access.

Hogan claims he was going to replace Cliff Burton in Metallica after his death.

I remember that story, yeah. I don't think that 'Tallica could have ever been ready for the power that is Hulkamania.

Keeping in line with the conversation, I think I'll end up picking this up after it launches in Canada, if only for the access to the PPVs

You don't have to pay for PS Plus to get access to Netflix/Hulu/etc. That's only on Xbox.

You only need to pay for PS+ for online multi. Apps like Netflix and this one will remain free to use n PSN.

They will still have the PPVs on cable too. So they're not doing away with that. They're just adding this as another way to get those PPVs.

Im really hoping they give us the entire 2006 year of ECW. It's fascinating to think that actually happened- from all the old guys, to 20 minute awesome Big Show TV main events including thing like THUMBTACK BUMPS from Ric Flair, and how it all just fell apart at the end of the year with Heyman getting fired and December to Dismember being the worst PPV of all time.

Man, remember The Zombie? That was the dumbest/coolest thing ever!

I really don't see why people are laughing at the comment. It isn't like he is wrong lol.

I imagine because most of us want a "sports entertainment" product that WWE provides, and "wrestling" on it's own doesn't do it for us, nor do these Feds with no production value.

And the indie scene is weaker than ever, I'd much rather watch NXT.

This I can understand.

This I don't. Weaker than ever? Cmon now. Opinions and all that but wrestling is better now that it has ever been.

NXT and New Japan are far superior to anything ROH and PWG do.

Besides ROH has a chance of redemption with Hero and AJ Styles coming in now, but it was ass for alot of 2013 there. Loads of people dropped it even though they have a weekly program now.

There is no one out there I look at and go, "Man, WWE is missing the boat by not having this guy." What indie guy is on the level of Punk, Daniel Bryan, Joe, etc when they were on their ascent?

No way man. Not at all!

I was speaking more of the indy scene as a whole with the amount of wrestling that is available but if we are talking actual wrestlers, the #1 guy in my mind to be the next IWC indy darling is Adam Cole.

As someone who watches wrestling, with almost everything this company does, you always have to ask the question "how will they make this absolutely terrible this time?". Things have been getting a lot better within the past 6-8 months, as I started watching again for the first time in over 10 years. Things haven also been really great on the development side. They've finally been bringing in a lot of legitimate talent through their program with NXT and WWE Performance Center in Orlando. It's been pretty impressive honestly. Stephanie no longer runs the creative team, which would explain why things have been improving on the story side. HHH is still really irritating, but at least he's not wrestling anymore.

I'll get this if things look promising after Royal Rumble leading into Wrestlemania.

Opinions and what not, NXT is great in it's basic storytelling, with the added bonus of having great wrestling matches that actually make sense as far as psychology goes, you can easily see the benefit these guys get from working under guys like Dusty and Regal.

Sure, it's sometimes hit and miss with some guys not working or angles/characters not being great and some of those guys are very green, but that's no different in the indies.

When NXT is good, it's great, but people have got carried away with this "it's like a WWE produced indie show!!!" stuff, because there are a fair few dud episodes that can't match up to what the top indies are producing on a monthly basis.

The whole reason the indies don't have a 'top guy' on the level of the likes of Joe, Punk & Bryan were at when they left is because WWE have poached so much of the top indie talents - guys like Samuray Del Sol and Sami Callihan (known now as Kalisto & Solomon Crowe) will likely be wowing WWE audiences by this time next year, but neither got the chance to become as big on the indies as they should have done. And that's not for a lack of talent, either. Same goes for Ambrose. He never really got to the top before WWE signed him.

Oh I see, that sounds like a better deal than what I imagined it was (i.e. the network being a standalone channel that people had to subscribe to for X amount a month). If it was going to have been bundled with other channels then I guess they would have got quite a few more subscribers than if not.

Hope this new plan works out for them though, it sounds like great value if they keep the "PPVs are included" incentive indefinitely and don't charge extra for them after a year or so.
