Spartan Assault released on Win8 devices last July and on the X1 just before Christmas, but there was no Halo game in 2008 -- Halo 3 hit shelves in late 2007 and Halo Wars early 2009.

Only Valve has had the balls to stand by their game for over a decade.

To me, it seems most probable that this is either for Halo 5 itself or Halo 6. It's quite possible that they are already working on Halo 6 at this point anyway since Halo 5 is coming out this year.
