Dark Souls II "Curse" Trailer

The game looks like exactly what I want: another Souls game. I don't care what the ESRB rating is, or if the graphics aren't top-tier. If it plays as good as the previous two games, I'm happy.

Also, I love the new bonfire lighting effect.

Great trailer. Excellent VO, an awesome clip, and some cool boss reveals.

Realistic spiders! Fuccccckckkkkkkkkkkkk meeeeeeeeeeee

Is anyone worried that this looks TOO much like the first Dark Souls?

Not really. The same probably could have been said about Dark Souls looking too much like Demon's Souls.

Katana users rejoice!

Might be because the whole concept was fresher four years ago?

I don't think that's it, as I can still watch some (not all) of the Dark Souls and Demon's Souls trailers and get pretty hyped for them even though I've played through both games multiple times. I think Dark Souls II will be exceptional, but I don't think the marketing thus far has been.

I haven't even tried the first two Souls games yet. Though I did buy Demon's Souls for $8 and Dark Souls for $27 less than a month ago. Excited to get going.

But if I don't have Xbox Live Gold, won't I be able to use the online features of Dark Souls?

Yes, but it is difficult to draw conclusions from the trailer.

I don't really care if the mechanics of the game are the same; I'm more worried that they will end up reusing ideas from a lot of areas like they did with Demons -> Dark.

If DkS trailers released a couple months prior to its release have taught us anything, it's that From is still polishing/adding detail all the way to the day they print the game. Just look at some of the vids being used to compare the two releases and you'll see bosses (in DkS) wielding weapons entirely different than what they have in-game. I'm not worried in the slightest personally.

Thank you for posting fellow GAFfer.

I can't wait to play this game. I'm not very good at hard games but still managed to beat both Souls games, all it took was more patience and the knowing that most of the times I died was because of a mistake of my own, it felt great to see the Credits rolling after finishing Dark Souls because it felt like a gaming related achievement for me.

Now Im waiting for the PC version to come, ready for the huge amounts of hype until this game arrives and it's going to be a great journey with you all, good people!

When I first played Dark Souls and got to the bottom of Blighttown, I almost put down the game for a while because seeing Queelag's Domain in the distance freaked me out. I hate bugs and spiders in real life so seeing that giant ant hill towering in the distance made my mind fill up with what bug like monstrosities could possibly be in that area. Fortunately, Queelag herself was abstracted enough away from an actual spider that it wasn't that bad but seeing those spiders in the trailer has me freaked out all over again. :(

All I'm waiting for now is a confirmation of Steamworks so I can get the physical collectors edition, so hurry up Namco.

You will need Gold in order to use the online features. Pretty much every Xbox game is like this.

I'm assuming that you will be playing it on the 360, correct? I will despite dreading the framerate drops in Dark Souls. I can only imagine it being worse this time around. I'm guessing the game is probably better played on a PS3.

Wanted to be hype from the trailer but... Maybe its the super zoomed in shots, but this looks graphically worse than the first game.

Its probably due to the fact that you are used to seeing these games from far away.

Having just bought a PS3 and playing through The Last of Us on a monitor and TV, I can confirm that console games don't look as good as you think they do.

You know that is the first thing I thought of too. That's pretty fucking sad if that's the reason.

Demon's Souls had nothing like that. It was just a very dark, gruesome game, with some pretty vicious kills(the Penetrator taking out the Fat Official comes to mind).

I don't know if the phrase "cream is screaming out of my body" is a thing or makes sense, but it feels like the right way to explain it.

Too much middle earth, Not enough berserk. where's the grime? The bleakness? The sense of oppression? The only thing missing was a band of merry dwarves fucking about.

Wait, a T rating? So no crazy stuff like Maiden Astrea? That really sucks =

I want my Dark Fantasy to be really dark and disturbing.

Yeah, on Xbox as it was on sale for that platform. But too bad, I guess I'll buy a few months of Gold someday.

Was difficult focusing on the trailer with that really stupid 'bootleg cam' shit going on.
At least the music was 20x more fitting to the atmosphere and feel than cut-me-deep rock bands.
