I remember you now. Mod on SVT or some site. I'm sure you banned me once or twice. Trolling car forums used to be so much fun because of how riled up dudes get about their vehicles. You grow out of the trolling phase though too. Thanks for the support about the issue here.I'm not gonna shit your thread up and I don't think it's right or fair to be disqualified from those jobs over a single misdemeanor.
But I also do remember you from back then and I also remember how much trash you talked and how much you instigated shit.
Mutual "fight" with my girlfriend at the time in her apartment. Neither wanted to press charges.. State picked up charges against me three months later.Did I miss where you expand on what exactly your "altercation" was? You seem to skip over it in the OP.
This thread would be a lot more interesting if one of the OP's recent threads didn't require nuking for orbit and was still visible.
Refresh my memory on what happened again. I looked for it and couldn't find it
Car got booted. Made a thread about it. Posted a girls information on "accident". Gaf hunted her down and slut shamed her.Refresh my memory on what happened again. I looked for it and couldn't find it
BackgroundcheckceptionYou guys are background checking a poster on a thread about background checking. Wow.
Did you hit her? If so it's pretty easy to see why no HR person is going to take a chance on a person they don't know other than the details of that caseMutual "fight" with my girlfriend at the time in her apartment. It depends on where you live. For example, where I live, maximum jail sentence for a misdemeanor is six months, not a year.
I would gladly take an offer somewhere else as a complete change of pace of it was presented. Sadly, I have 20k+ of credit debt from having to partially live off credit the past 5-8 years and I'm in a very big hole at the moment. Picking up and moving isn't something that would be possible.
Out of curiosity here are my current IT certs. Would this really pull 100k+ there?

Really? What State do you live in? Some States have different classifications of misdemeanors. I never heard of one with a max of six months. Felonies are jail sentences that are more than one year, but i was pretty certain in all states, misdemeanors are less than one year, except for Massachusetts where i think the max is 2.5 years for one of its misdemeanors.

With your misdemeanor, debt, record, no college, gaps in resume, etc. you need to social engineer yourself and network. Exploit every other advantage you can get such as volunteering for community service gigs to turn your profile around for businesses. IT is too important and competitive to take risks on.
Personally I would start a business, and you can build your network that way too. All you need is a screwdriver and craigslist to start charging $30-40/hour for basic computer repair.
If you can get rid of your debt I would also seriously consider joining the military as an IT guy. It would help your resume, you can get possibly a masters degree, travel the world, and become more motivated than ever.
Godspeed
That was a troll thread and has no relevance to this. The entire story was explained to dayz Gaf on mumble after it happened. Me and that girl are still friends and despite gafs best efforts it didn't hurt her in the least. Stop. Please.Well given his attitude in the previous thread, namely a disrespectful and misogynistic attitude towards the young woman involved until the fallout from the lurkers and detective-GAF began to directly affect him, I'm hesitant to feel sorry for, OP. It seems like another situation where he isn't really sorry for how being a douchebag has affected other people's lives, but he is sorry that being a douchebag has negatively affected his life
I think you can get a waiver for something like this. It's not a felony. And felonies can be waived as well. Thanks for the advice but I am unable to join the military with this on my record.
I'm sorry to say this but these are some low level certs.
Certs some tech support making 40-50K would have because they didn't go to college.
The only decent cert up there is CCENT but you need at minimum a CCNA to really get anything in the Cisco world, preferably a CCNP.
Since the crime was deemed domestic it doesn't apply because I can't own or operate a firearm just like a felon.I think you can get a waiver for something like this. It's not a felony. And felonies can be waived as well.

Yep. It was one of my first paths of pursuit after missing a few job opportunities as I had a good friend that is a recruiter in the Navy. This is correct. You are ineligible for military service in the US. All branches.

Do you describe fights with your former girlfriend as "trolling"? That could be why people won't hire you.
Nevada.
Misdemeanors are a max of six months (see Nev. Rev. Stat. 193.150), gross misdemeanors max of a 364 days (see Nev. Rev. Stat. 193.140), and then felonies depending on the category of same (see Nev. Rev. Stat. 193.130).
Georgia doesn't allow expungement of any convictions unless you were under 21 which I was and is the process I'm going through. For anyone over 21 they are SOL and I feel terrible that they don't at least have the legal path I'm going down now as an option. Can't you request the police department to have your record expunged after a set amount of years?
This makes me feel absolutely terrible. At 28 I just got my first DUI. Im also going back to school for an it degree and your story makes me wonder if I should even bother. I've never been so ashamed of myself in my life, and I'm not sure if my depression can handle this complete lack of opportunity going forward

Thanks, it's interesting. It seems like Nevada has the standard misdemeanor and gross misdemeanor is something a little bit worse than standard. I assume they have a petty misdemeanor too. In NY, we have Class A Misdemeanor which is Nevada's Gross Misdemeanor and a Class B Misdemeanor, which is a jail sentence of up to three months. We also have violations which can be considered petty misdemeanors in other states.
I paid for this seven years ago. Wow this post really upset me. How many people feel this way?NoRéN;97585517 said:I would feel bad for you but it seems like you made a mistake and now have to pay for it.
I was in a similar situation but I'm an identity theft victim so all the bullshit I've gone through was through no fault of my own.
Time to start considering being your own boss. Start a business.
You guys are background checking a poster on a thread about background checking. Wow.
Starting my own business is way out of the question but thank you for the encouragement.Always have a positive mindset, prior convictions will never stop you from forming your own business and so on.
Education is never a waste and life is about getting hit and carrying on regardless.
This is the last I'm going to say about that thread. The girl was laying next to me when that thread was posted. We were literally looking at her phone when multiple Gaf members were creating okcupid accounts trying to tell her what a douchebag I was. The posting of her text message with her name was her idea and she got a kick at how some of Gaf reacted. It was in bad taste yes on both our parts.. But please drop it. It has no relevance to the topic. This was behavior from months ago, not years ago.

Actually, we don't have petty misdemeanors. So things like traffic tickets, petit larceny, DUI (1st and 2nd without significant bodily harm or death), Domestic Violence (1st and 2nd without significant bodily harm or death), etc. are all misdemeanors with the same "weight" insofar as they all get called misdemeanors on your criminal record and have the same standard punishment range of "being punishable by up to $1,000.00 in fines and/or up to six months in the county/city jail" (of course, individual statutes provide more specific punishments for specific crimes). Interesting stuff.
Which is bullshitDon't let it bum you too much. That one HR lady told me she'd still hire if it was a dui after all. I think those are looked at much better than my crime.

Which is bullshit
Not to say anyone with a DUI should be banned from working or life or whatever, I just have issues with drunk driving (and alcoholism in general) and it's ridiculous that it's considered "better"

When I was playing poker full time and leaving the casino.. Drunks would literally pour out twenty or thirty at a time. The casinos would happily get their cars for them and the cops would gladly avoid the area around the immediate casinos. It made me so sick to see.My sister-in-law's mother was killed by a DUI. She managed to cope with it but her brothers are still an emotional mess, 3 years later. Fuck drunk/drugged drivers, burn their driver's license and give them a year of community service.
