Get 'em while they're hot.

Was announced on Facebook at 11pm (EST), so... go go!

Good looking out bro...will let a few friends know right now

This doesn't make much sense. Call of Duty, Fifa and BF4 are making people wait for PS4's to be in stock but Watch Dogs won't? Because it might run worse on current gen consoles? You think consumers who are buying PS4's are refreshing digital foundry constantly to see the differences between current gen and next gen? Consumers don't care what multiplat runs better or worse against current gen consoles. Both consoles are already setting records. They want to upgrade and one console is $100 cheaper than the other

better performing multiplats might not be the top reason casuals are picking one system over the other but it's another + when comparing the two. It would be very interesting to know what the average consumer knows about the hardware, be it power differences or DRM polices. I remember hearing about people that still thought the XB1 had all the pre-180 stuff in place.

What's the joke about New Zealand stock? I hate it when I miss absurd posts.

Guy in another stock at Target topic was mentioning how demand in New Zealand had fallen off a cliff, that stores were literally begging people to buy them. Of course with some prodding and visual evidence, that turned out to be completely false. But it was hilarious.

It's only a matter of time before he comes to this thread, I guess.

I'm almost hoping it doesn't sell like crazy in Japan, the thing will never be in plentiful supply, and I can see the EU getting shafted.

It's crazy how this is still hard to find this long after launch. The lack of availability, and the lack of games made me decided to just ditch getting one in 3 weeks and just invest the saved money into my PC.

no matter what the scenario, investing money into ones PC is always the right answer.

Hard to believe? What was hard to believe was the Wii being effectively sold out for a year.

I would rather hope for a loss of demand in US then. ;)
The western support is already guaranteed but if it doesn't sell in japan, there won't be much hope for a decent number of good new japanese console games.

True, but PS4 is selling a ton more systems then Wii ever did in a month while it was hard to find. #Thirst is real. Also Y2Kev is killing me lol.

Hell yeah, I went from getting a i5 to a Xeon that's basically a i7 for the price of a i5 and a GTX 780. Sony jabronis helped me out with that limited stock!

There's actual lines? Wow. The last time I heard stuff like this going on is when the 360 launched but it's crazy how everything flipped.

And consider this: PS4 supply dwarfs what they were getting out for 360 at the time.

PS4 supply dwarfs what they were getting out for Wii too as far as I am aware. That's why I don't think there's any way this demand lasts as long as it did for Wii.

With all this fawning we're doing for Sony via sales, I'd wish theyd throw us a bone on future firmware update info.

oh god there are still lines for PS4!? I still cannot believe with how much Sony has been able to produce demand remains this high. They really did go beyond what I thought was possible, so kudos to them

I'm with you guys and as someone who jumped from 360 to PS4 this pleases me greatly.

Kudos indeed Sony, we're prepared for greatness.

Another PS2 sales domination would be fun to see.
Yes I wish XBox the best and can't wait to get one but I'm still bitter about the path its gone down.

This is getting ridiculous. How can a console launched two months ago still have lines? Either Sony screwed up and really underestimated demand (it should have been obvious it was going to be high by E3) or they launched in too many countries and spread themselves too thin. They had better start making sure there are adequate supplies in the main western markets for March or people might just get an Xbox One for the big multiplatform releases given you can pretty much walk into a store and buy one.

You forgot to add on more reason... 3.) Or they are just THAT HOT of a item right now that the demand is so BIG that it sells out as fast as they come in.

Sony has did a pretty damn good job if you think about it...they have "SOLD MORE" than MS in the USA....people seem to forget that there are more PS4's in America's living rooms than X1's right now. This just proves Sony did a pretty good job with supplying in America...its just much more desired vs X1 right now.

I think people mind less now because it happens in the background.

Now you only have new features to look forward to.

Yeah, that's a nice turnaround from the PS3 where you'd put in a disc and instantly be sent to the install/update screen so that your game can update with patches. Now it happens you may not even know that it has updated.

I remember with the PS3 people were upset that they updated the firmware too often, now they aren't doing it often enough. :P

It was a royal pain that if you only used your machine once in a while and you wanted to load up a game you'd have to wait 20 minutes for the firmware to update, and then you'd open the game and wait another 20 minutes for the game itself to update. It was a terrible implementation and it should have had background updating integrated into the OS from the start.

To be honest....I have not been using my PS4 as much as my gaming pc in these winter months but it does not bother me one bit because i know without a doubt that the PS4 will come into its own soon enough with mind blowing games. Everything about the system just gives me a feeling of great things to come...Sony really has got one heck of a system here with PS4. The games this machine will have are going to be visually and technically astonishing. So even though my PS4 is not being played as much as i want to play it...i look at it as "the future" of console gaming that will be producing fresh game software.

Sony really has gotten back to its roots...reminds me of a lot of the original first playstation system. I am 100% positive we will be seeing some fresh new IP's that will birth new franchises, etc. Games like Einhander and Klonoa i can see coming back as well...when i think about the original PS console...the PS4 gives me that same vibe for some reason. Sony has that "gaming passion" back..which is missing imho with MS right now.

How many districts/stores do y'all have nationwide? How does your district compare to others WRT size and volume?

Any hints as to how XBone is doing by comparison?

There's districts that are just mobile stores, so the total number of districts wouldn't give an accurate number... But we've got 15 or so in the NH and North MA district. There was around 500 for us, others hit a few hundred more.

Good for PlayStation. If they keep playing their cards right, this could be one hell of a generation. I got a bit of a nostalgic tingle when they showed it for the first time...It was a sexy, updated PS2. I think people are starting to see it in their friends living rooms and the momentum may actually grow, not wain.

Walked into Best Buy about an hour after it opened and picked up a PS4 no problem.
Funny thing is, I was planning on buying an Xbone today but the Best Buy in my town has been out of stock for weeks for some reason. It's the only one within a hundred miles that doesn't have them.
So I go to Gamestop, the only other retailer in the area that carries Xbox Ones, and was waiting in line when I have a flashback to when this exact store botched my preorder for the Metal Gear Solid 3 Subsistence Special Edition like eight years ago. The memory is enough for me walk out of the store, not wanting to give them my business, and I call Best Buy. They guy on the phone says they still don't have Xbones but they have PS4s, which I ended getting instead.
tl;dr My hatred for Gamestop led me to get a PS4 rather than an Xbox One.

My Brother picked one up this morning from Best Buy (St. Louis, Mo area).

Didn't say how many were there. He was just excited that he has one now.
