MS: Halo 5, Sunset Overdrive, Quantum Break dates at E3; new exclusives this year

Microsoft's Phil Spencer has promised that the Xbox One will be getting more exclusives in 2014 and hinted that release dates for Halo, Quantum Break and Sunset Overdrive will be announced.

"We will have announces [sic] in 2014, already working on the plan. I want to have a great E3 this year," said Spencer on Twitter, as spotted by OXM.

Spencer also replied to a question regarding release dates for Halo, Quantum Break and Sunset Overdrive, saying, "Most of those will be clear to fans by the end of our E3 briefing."

So it seems that as well as new Xbox One exclusives, we can also expect news of release dates for one or more of Halo, Quantum Break and Sunset Overdrive at E3 2014.

Most of those? So some of them won't be? I'd bet QB gets pushed to 2015 then.

Actually, is QB even a 2014 game? I can't seem to find anywhere that says it is.

All right I'll be honest this is one announcement of announcements that makes me happy. At least now I know when to expect to get release dates. Specifics really help

I just want Sunset Overdrive. Insomniac pls

I predict Halo and Overdrive release dates, announcements for like two new IPs for retail, a bunch for donwloadable, something regarding Rare's next project, KI Season 2, Lionhead's new project, and probably Phantom Dust HD F2P

Looking forward to Halo 5. That's all I'm
and most people who care about Xbox One exclusives
looking forward to.

lol why would anyone be looking forward to another Halo game after Halo 4?

I'm hoping for a Banjo reboot and some new IPs to be announced at E3. Would be nice to get some info on Sunset Overdrive before then.

Halo 5 in 2014? Kinda doubt it.

It was announced at E3 2013 as a 2014 game...

With Halo and Sunset Overdrive out this year it would make sense to announce the date at E3, I'm only expecting Quantum Break to be narrowed down at E3 "first half of 2015" or something.

I expected most of these games this year so i won't be surprised. Sunset Overdrive seems to be the only odd one since we haven't seen or heard anything about that game.

The ball is in your court now Sony.

For some reason I was expecting Halo 5 to be released Q1/Q2 this year, not after E3....

Can't wait to see some next gen Halo anyway. Whether the game itself has the ability to make me get an X1...probably not just for that game alone immeadiately anyway. Maybe it'll help overtime though.

I only care about Sunset Overdrive in that list, but I expect a lot from it. We don't know much about it yet, but if it can deliver on the teaser promises, it should be great. :)

Why? It has been set for 2014 for a while now.

Anyway, this is going to be a great year for gaming.

Alan Wake was first shown at E3 2005 and had a 5 year development time, seemingly. Seeing what we've seen of Quantum Break, I don't see it launching in 2014. Sort of like the Order 1886. It seems like it'll be a "more time to polish" title.

Sunset Overdrive ... is it really going to launch in Fall? Because it can't be targeted for this Summer, I don't imagine. And it seems, based only on what we know, like the kind of game that would disappear in the Fall.

And Halo 5. The most likely, but I still don't think it's likely. However of the three titles Microsoft will probably push to have it release in 2014, just 2 years after the release of Halo 4.

I don't think so. Microsoft has been cranking up the hype machine for Quantum Break since the reveal of the Xbox One. They talked about it during E3 and they talked about it for VGX. I think that the one game that doesn't make it in 2014 is Sunset Overdrive.

You haven't heard a peep about it since E3.

You could say the same about Halo but the marketing of a new IP requires more build than a game like Halo. My guess is that they will tell us next to nothing about Halo until E3, at which time they will do a big game play reveal and have multiplayer playable.

Halo 5 is literally the single game that would convince me to get an XBONE if it's good. Normally I don't buy consoles for one game, but I loves me some Halo....c'mon 343 don't fuck this up.

.

Because 1 sub-par Halo game does not mean the series is dead? Especially given that the 1 sub par game was that studio's very first game ever, working with a brand new team.

If 5 is bad then we worry. 4 is a good game technically, it's just a bad Halo game.

I think we'll see Sunset in September and Halo in November.

Quantum Break is probably first half of 2015. I'm curious about what other exclusives for this year they'll announce. Whatever they are I hope Crackdown 3 is one of them. It will also be interesting to see where they come from since we've recently learned the Osaka studio Mattrick spoke of doesn't exist and Victoria was closed before ever releasing a game.

Quantum Break, sure, Remedy's a little notorious for their release dates. A couple of posts right above yours we have Insomniac's James Stevenson reconfirming (again) this year for Sunset.

And Halo 5, development on it started before Halo 4 even shipped, that's usually how most game development is done when talking about sequels. I'm sure MS knows to give them time. I'm hoping they know what they're doing.
