1990's Cartoon Survivor (Do-Over)

Well, I dont want to kill Reboot, but I will if it means saving DBZ and Courage. The question is, which show would replace courage or dbz at the bottom if not those two?

It should totally be Darkwing Duck that gets the axe this round.

Save the net, the dog, and the Goku, kill the duck.

People seem to have a really high reverence for the ol' Duck Batman show, as I found a few rounds ago. Maybe tomorrow? I'd be down for giving it a top 15 spot and moving forward.

The trouble is... we have three shows running for 1 & 2 tonight, so whichever is left over will logically go, right? The battle for #2 tomorrow will be interesting.

Yeah, at this point that's probably what's going to happen. Other than that, there's not much left that I feel like actively going after. There's maybe one or two left I'm not really a fan of, but most of the remaining shows are really good.

One of those shows got shat on in an overblown attempt to save Hey Arnold (which is now the safest thing on the board). I don't think it deserves to go anywhere, personally. Not while Tiny Toons and Darkwing Duck persist.

Don't kill ReBoot and Courage will be fine.

You have a card up your sleeve, ol' Adder?

Also this whole thing is bollocks anyway. No 2 Stupid Dogs? Well isn't that cute. BUT IT'S WROOONG!
I already mentioned that earlier in the thread and, judging by some of the rabid attacks at other good shows, am glad that 2 Stupid Dogs didn't even make the list. Why are we mowing astroturf, indeed.

Kill: DBZ - Love this show to death, but am more interested in protecting the interests of North American cartoons in this exercise.
Kill: DBZ - Put it up against Neon Genesis Evangelion and I'll argue in its favor against any fan of that show into the "next dimension."
Save: Reboot. To whichever poster that said people voting in favor of this show need to watch some episodes now, thanks for the advice. Think I'll watch the Gigabyte episode tonight. Or maybe even the episode where Hexadecimal becomes good. Or maybe even the one where Megabyte shows up at Enzo's birthday party and gets into a shredding competition with Bob.

All these episodes considered shit by a good number of people here. Maybe YOU all should try watching them.

*is still gonna watch them*

Is that one kill vote for DBZ or two, Corvo?

Leading the witness! Haha.

All I can say is... the three shows most likely to go have all been on my "please go" list for a little bit, so I'm not to worried about the next two hours. I just hope this thread doesn't resort to tons of new posters influxing in from other threads to sway towards one show or another. Watch the off-topic threads and watch a new Darkwing Duck nostalgia thread pop up tonight, heh.

It's such a shame that DBZ was only ever like that on it's best days. On its worst it was 20 minutes of Goku's arm pits waiting for that goddamn Spirit Bomb.

On it's worst day, Reboot was Bob and Enzo dicking around playing games. DBZ has higher highs and about the same lows.

Salty Bet taught me to never bet on DBZ though.

You wouldn't need to, because Reboot is too obscure to have characters on Salty Bet.

Hahaha.

Sure it does. Bob and Enzo dicking around playing games is still better than EVERY CHARACTER STANDING IN THE SAME SPOT DOING NOTHING.

DBZ's filler was so bad that you can ask people today and that will be one of the very first things they'll bring it up. DBZ was hardly the highwater mark of 90s anime.

Or need we remember the ENTIRE Garlic Junior nonsense?

Oh wow. I just looked at the thread post count and noticed how many Reboot saves and BDZ kills are from people who've only posted once or twice. Today.

This is 90's survivor Corvo, Garlic JR was the 00's.

People decided to make this absurd. DBZ got like 2 kills max before this round.

your argument is invalid

Since we're basing the entries in this thread primarily on what aired in the US during the 90s... wasn't DBZ heavily censored? Watered down dialog, removed animation of punches/kicks connecting or effects added to censor it, blood and dead bodies brushed out, "next dimension" nonsense and no acknowledged references to Hell (big deal since it's a location we literally see), etc. This is important to remember when deciding what deserves to stay til the end.

From your clip (green dots courtesy of GIFcam):

This is what you guys pulled in people from other threads to vote for.

Here's a DBZ clip It's 25mb, so if you're on metered internet, click at your own peril.

It's early budgeted CGI animation for television. Honestly, what the hell were you expecting, Toy Story?

And Team Four Star is the only reason that filler is cool now.

Since Kai would never make a 00s or 10s survivor, I'm all in for DBZ. Even with its faults it deserves top 10!

Toonami aired the majority of the series to US audiences for the first time (with a brand new dub with far less censoring). It also helped kick start the 00s anime craze.

Toonami DBZ should definitely be in a 00s thread.

I'll cast whatever votes I have the ability to cast for Reboot :P

So I have to eliminate two shows ah man.

Kill - Courage
Kill - DBZ
Save - Reboot

Okay had to be cutthroat here. Reboot must live.

You can kill the same show twice to help Reboot even more, actually.

As for DBZ, I watched it even before Toonami. 1995 Syndication! Loved it for a long time.

If you love it more than Reboot, you might want to save it instead. That's assuming you love it more than Reboot, of course.

the kill Reboot train isn't gonna stop, and we're already getting to the point where it's looking incredibly silly in its current company. i'm just waiting for the point when people are going to start trying to kill off the DC shows or Animaniacs or Rocko's Modern Life to save this thing.

I watched both those shows in the mid 90's as a child in the US! Making me feel old here, but both are some of my favorite shows of the era. Reboot giving a glimpse of CG shows of the future, and DBZ will always be great to me.

The rock and roll episode that was posted of reboot was a silly ending, but that was one of the best episodes. Even had the Binome William Shatner, and the unforgettable song by Phong.

Good times.

You think Simpsons will be that high? The quality of the show has suffered so much. Unless they're just holding on to pre-season 10 thoughts.

90s Survivor is the name of the game, and seasons 1-10 are so perfect that it's really hard to argue the likes of Tiny Toons against it. The material after season 10 isn't even that bad, from what I've seen, and if we're talking about the best, most definitive 90s cartoons.... how can't The Simpsons be high up there?

Technically they didn't pull people in to shank shows they dislike. They did it to save a show they like.

Oh Adder...
