Resident Evil 4 Ultimate HD Edition PC

That's a CS and is exactly like that on the original GC version.

It's a scene that shows way more enemies that normal gameplay. It happens pretty fast so is almost not noticiable on the original GC version (also lower res, hides it better)

That's not true is it? The gamecube version easily had that many enemies on screen at once and that scene is rendered in real time as a scripted sequence.

Okay cool! I wasn't sure because the hi-res look threw me off but it does seem based on the Wii version. Hopefully the cutscenes are also real time.

Based on the Wii version, the main game's cutscenes will be rendered in real time, and then when you hit Seperate Ways, it'll be nothing but crappy compression FMV's.

Oh god I just realized how god awful the Seperate Ways cutscenes are going to be. Did they ever re-render those for the HD versions? Because even on the Wii version those cutscenes were awful.

I'm hoping the 15gB space requirement means videos re-rendered at 1080p at least.

Resident Evil 4 (GC)
Resident Evil 4 (PS2)
Resident Evil 4: Wii Edition (Wii)
Resident Evil 4 (PC)
Resident Evil 4 HD Edition (PS3)

And now Resident Evil 4 Ultimate HD Edition. Never have I been so happy to own so many copies of the same game. I know Capcom really are milking the cash cow with this one, but Resident Evil 4 is one of the best games I played in the last two generations. Still, some of the textures leave a lot to be desired. Can't wait to see some of the mods released for RE4:UHD.

Yea, that's what I was getting at, worst case scenario you can use a third party program to remap the controls on the gamepad.

Yeah, but that's a hassle. I'd appreciate the options to completely remap a gamepad in every game that supports it, and that goes for all console games, too. I'm a bit miffed that it's not already standard in every game.

You see Capcom, this is what happens when you make good RE games. You can sell them over and over again.

I bought it on GC twice, PS2, PC, Wii, PS3 import, and now Steam PC

Buying DAY ONE but man PS2 era games have aged badly. The lack of bumpmapping, shadowing, self shadowing etc. is striking to say the least. I loved this kind of graphics in the past now it's hard to look at even in 1080p.

What is wrong with me :/

Okay, who is it? :P

PS3 ver has such poor image quality it's shimmering all over the place, pretty big improvement over that, don't think the textures are different though but the 15GB?!! Maybe they redid the videos this time... not holding my breath.

Where is Code Veronica HD though?

and
RE5 GOLD :(

Same on 360. I know. I bought it. :(

wow, nowadays a lot of people love re4.

i remember, when this game was announced for gc, a lot of people were first of all upset thats its only for gc.

then they were upset about the changes made to the series

and then kobayashi said, when this game is going to be released on something else than the gc, he will chop off his head.

and have a look at this game now with all these news in mind.

i feel so ashamed how old fans turned out and how new fans behave.

re4 was the first entry of the NEW resident evil.

re4,5,6 are nearly all the same. super action-driven next to no horror.

and even worse, this bullshit about re-released. milk that cashcow, capsy-com.

how about a new revelations? old fans loved the one for 3ds(and again the release of it on the hd-systems)

capcom are releasing something officially that modders did years back when resi 4 pc launched????? id much rather have Code Veronica HD on steam
The modded version was based on the nasty ps2 version and no amounting of modding could solve all of its issues.

I'm a bit disappointed they haven't upgraded the textures, but the bigger issue are the controls. IIRC, the first PC iteration didn't include controller or mouse support so you had to aim w/the arrow keys. This one will probably have controller support included, but I'm not holding my breath on the mouse which is a shame after experiencing it w/Dolphin. I'll take a wait and see approach, but if they have proper controls I'll gladly give them my money.

Well I just septa-dipped

They talk about proper controller support but no mention of mouse support, if it plays anything like RE5 on PC that would be prime as hell.

Can we just skip this and get Resident Evil 4 with the whole hog eighth-generation brand-new engine treatment? I'd pay whatever's in my wallet for Leon Kennedy: The Definitive Edition.

Yup.

RE5 ultimate is coming. Feel free to buy it again!!

I honestly wouldn't put it past them

PC RE5 missed out on the Chris/Jill DLC didn't it? Seems very Capcom to just dump the current GFWL version and re-release it on Steam with the DLC included

There are several other ganados that goes past the screen in that cs, that image is what you see in the last 0,5 seconds of that shot.

It is my full hope that someone figures out how to mod GCN controls/Icons into this game. I recall the HD versions doing some weird remapping of the controls, and I'd like to avoid that if possible.

The HD versions (which was supposedly based on the GC/Wii versions) didn't use real time cutscenes, I believe so I'm wondering. Like I just want a definitive version without any of the cons. Hopefully this is it. Dat 60fps :O

4 is superior to 5 and 6 in every conceivable way. It's absolutely a blast to play, which takes nothing away from the quality of the previous games in the franchise. Revelations was a respectable effort, but still a far cry from the quality of RE4.

That's impossible, since the deadzones between the PS2 and GC versions were completely different. The deadzones on the GC version are tiny as hell, and makes super fine aiming (read: headshots) possible and easy when you get good at it. The PS2/HD versions have like half the stick deadzone'd and makes the game literally unplayable for me, unless I were to use only the shotgun.
And as a person who never picks up/buys a shotgun, I obviously never use the shotgun.

The GC pad has the best left analog stick ever made, but the 360 pad is a decent substitute and I had no problem being very accurate on that version.

If it used FMV's, then you really can't say it was based on the Wii or PS2 version. It's likely they started with the PS2 version as a base, and then dropped the folder of GCN assets to the game, which would explain the bad deadzones. Based mostly on the PS2 version, with the models/textures of the GCN version.

Man, this will be the third time I've bought the game. If it comes to Vita I'll be it there too lol. RE4 is just GOAT!

Definitely Pre-Ordering. I just wish they would define what they mean by HD Remake? Will we get true PC options and support with actual high-res textures? This also better use the Gamecube code base.
