Sadly, I doubt the original GC code base is intact. Assets/cutscenes aside, the PS2 version was as much a 1.1 of the GCN version as it was, tuning the difficulty and adjusting some weapons (looking at you formerly worthless Blacktail). As cool as it'd be to get that full original feel, the Wii version is the closest we get.
 
I'll wait for comparisons with the GC version before buying it. Even then, I played the HD PS360 version and that game was designed for the GC controller.

It's likely they started with the PS2 version as a base, and then dropped the folder of GCN assets to the game, which would explain the bad deadzones. Well in that case I hope this Definitive Edition isn't based on the HD version. I mean they've had many tries now and we still don't have a definitive version. Nasty PS2 version code begone already!

Oh wow. Awesome. This myth is what made me skip on the HD versions, damnit. Well I might just get that version.
and then the Steam version too.
Guess the only thing to worry about now would be to have real time cutscenes for Separate Ways since no version has that.

PS2 version is a blight on existence. I still stand by the Wii version being the best version, by way of access to GCN controller and still getting the bonuses.

Well, i'm buying this although i despised this game for how things changed and followed with RE5 and 6.
I loved it and hated it at the same time, had this on PS2 and i played quite a lot.
 
Cutscenes are in realtime from what I saw on the Steam site video... since the once "prerendered" cutscenes are running at 60fps.
 
RE 4 HD used GC Wii assets and real-time cutscenes (c'mon several images are from custscenes and they definetly would look that good if they were pre-rendered) but it missed a few GC effects.

I hope this PC version finally brings us the GC version in all his glory to the HD era.

Considering all those game aside from CVX have PC Ports it needs to happen.
Square showed that fixed PC Ports on steam are easy money with FF7 and FF8.

The sad thing is I'd buy the Ultimate HD Edition and a complete remake if it ever happened.
 
Pretty sure the original GC code base is gone at this point since every version other than that has been based on the PS2 code.

Guess they can't be bothered with making separate steam apps for the name change depending on region. To the dismay of steam collectors everywhere.

Don't lump RE4 in with those non horror games. RE4 definitely had its pants shitting moments.

I seriously doubt it, the PC version of RE4 was done by Ubisoft before.

I wouldn't put it past them to make people pay for the "upgrade" as DLC or something though.

dont get me wrong, re4 was the first re i played alone and finished alone while for the others i needed help of friends or played them with them.

i loved it and played it several times and also took part back then in speed-runs, before youtube came around.

but its so interesting how the majority nowadays loves re4.
 
It says it will have gamepad support, but what about mouse support? The mod I have is very clunky.

Isn't that a deal Capcom made with Nintendo along with REmake? Neither of those have made it outside Nintendo systems so far.
