Super Smash Bros Wii U & 3DS Thread 4: New Year, Old Arguments

This is what I love most about waiting for the next smash game. If it is fake, then it's pretty fantastic what people can do and I find it amusing how nit-picky everyone gets about every minute detail and pixel. If it's real, then it's pretty fantastic in that it will open doors for all sorts of crazy rumors and pictures to get more press than they should, and we could potentially get more legitimate leaks.

Really, it's win-win for me.

Rumors and "leaks" like these are my favorite part of the pre-release Smash cycle. Neverending fun taking everything in and endlessly overanalyzing everything.

For the record, I'd lean closer to real than fake for this Palutena leak but I remain skeptical. I'm sure she's in the game anyways so it doesn't really matter to me if it's fake :p

Agreed.

Seriously, if it's a fake (which I don't think it is), then I need the faker to make more just because this is so insanely fun to watch.

did anyone mention the lack of any kind of heads up display like camera control options or were you too busy furiously debating the model to think outside of the box a little bit with a screenshot that is not a direct feed shot which makes it a bit suspicious that there is no indication of a heads up display or even the bottom screen

if someone was going to leak a character why would they neglect the bottom screen too

If I could cut out random background elements from a selection of screenshots to make my own background why couldn't the leaker?

Because we've gone over every pixel of every 3DS screenshot there is and there is no match.

The bottom UI is likely not final, and the point is to show the character anyway.

Here:

I'd guess the reason for that would be that the bottom screen doesn't actually have anything on it right now, so no reason to get a black screen in there.

But yeah, the 3DS could also not have a camera hud right now. Hell the U version probably doesn't either. Sakurai already knows how to use it, so no hurry.

Nobody mentioned that because it's irrelevant. You can make the camera control options disappear with a single button press in Brawl.

It's possible to disable the HUD in Brawl when you pause the game.

Has anyone pointed out that you can see the blue end-part of the staff through her clothes? Even if the staff is supposed to be clipping through Palutena, you still shouldn't be able to see that part. That alone makes me think it's fake.

I'm expecting Palutena as a newcomer, but I'm not too sure about this leak.

That's literally a crease or shadow on the robe, not a continuation of the staff. The staff's lines would go like this (using your pic here):
VTdiQem.jpg

As you can clearly see, the blue coloration on the robe is not the triangular shape that would be needed, as it goes "outside" of the pattern on the top side, and isn't filling out the entire area, either.
Additionally, the shadow is round, as opposed to the straight lines the staff should be composed of.

For all we know the game isn't paused, also. And do we know if the HUD for the 3DS is on the top screen? Is it possible it's been moved to the bottom for the 3DS version?

... still, similar things have me skeptical, but it looks so real... I can't decide either way.

Okay? This is all conjecture. Your post is conjecture. All I'm saying is that the lack of a HUD doesn't disprove this.

what i said wasn't conjecture at all

i wasn't even making any statements that needed backing up

do you know what you're even talking about

Come again? You replied "conjecture" in response to:

"You can make the camera control options disappear with a single button press in Brawl."

Play Brawl, pause, and press B. Boom. The HUD is gone. Which part of that needs "backing up"?

It blindly assumes the same option will be in the next game.

Where's evidence to support that?

If someone was going to do 2 fake screenshots why would they rig up a completely unique model of Palutena, pick a Mario animation frame that was never shown in that angle and piece together a night time Battlefield background?

It just seems too elaborate to be fake, to me at least.

It blindly assumes the same option will be in the next game.

Where's evidence to support that?

Where's evidence to support that the option is going to be cut from Smash 4?

All part of creating an illusion. Go to any length to make it believable.

You might be underestimating the drive of a hoaxer. If this is fake, it will go down in history as one of the best video game fakes ever.

I don't need evidence to refute someone else's claim. They need evidence to back up their own claim.

Your claim is that the camera option to turn off the HUD has been removed from the sequel. You should back that up. Where's the evidence for that?
So far, we've got a massive amount of evidence suggesting that you can deactivate the HUD, since all Miiverse shots are HUD-free.

Don't try and trip me up, bitch. I've played Phoenix Wright.
They gave as much 'evidence' to back up their claim as you did to refute it. Besides, I thought you were leaving SmashGAF.

Sssshhh. They won't listen. Just let them get this out of their system.

Haruka being in Smash would be pretty hype to be honest. A much better choice than Pacman. Her final smash could be "The world is all one."

Sasuke Uchiha would be a much better choice. His design they actually put some thought into and is possibly the greatest manga/anime character of all time.

They could also add Young Sasuke like Young Link im Melee to go with him.

Imagine the hype of Sasuke doing Kirin as a Final Smash, that far exceeds that of anything Idolmaster has to offer.

Any other suggestion would be moot at this point. Sasuke is the only choice for Smash Bros. U.

Not only is this 3ds bit also presumably a demo so it's not a stretch to assume the hud elements are on the lower screen or not implemented. No hud is something to consider but not necessarily a smoking gun.

Your claim is that the camera option to turn off the HUD has been removed from the sequel.

Nope.

Nobody mentioned that because it's irrelevant. You can make the camera control options disappear with a single button press in Brawl.

I merely cast suspicion over this claim. Ryce claims that the previous game had it, so then it means this game will too. However, we don't know that, unless you have some proof. Which is why I now ask...

Where is the evidence?!

The burden of proof lies on the accuser.
Your claim is that the camera option to turn off the HUD has been removed from the sequel.
You've done nothing to corroborate this claim.

Who is Sasuke and why are people talking about the hud? Where's the good ol' detective Gaf? We should already know the face of the rat by looking at some reflection or I don't know
