Fuuuuuuuuu forgot about my save vote :P

Kill: Batman Beyond
Kill: Animaniacs

Reason: BB ain't TAS. Animaniacs was ok, but not something I would go out of my way to watch.

Save: TBD

Edit: Changed a few things

this is the man you people sided with.

he must be stopped.
Prepare for war.
I don't remember ever watching it. By that point I was watching Nickelodeon exclusively, except for Saturday morning cartoons on ABC and occasionally WB.

Oh well. He took down a show that needed to go ages ago, and considering the usual stigma against Superman, his place on this list is a testament to just how excellent a show he had.
Indeed. My campaign would have started much sooner if I thought it was bad.

In case I did not make it clear in the rule changes or the OP
You only get one save during the top ten rounds.
It does not carry over. You only get one so use it wisely.
You also only get one if you have voted before the top 10 rounds.
You still get two kills but you cannot vote for the same show twice.

edit. that's what I figured.

Also your two kill votes CANNOT be used for the same show anymore. That is ALL! You also don't get a save unless you have voted before.

You have bad taste.

Kill Rugrats
Kill Rugrats
Save Hey Arnold

Kill: DBZ
Kill: DBZ
Save: Batman Beyond

For the new page (for 100 PPP)

2 kills, only 1 can be used on any given show. 1 save to use in any round up until the top 3, but only if you've voted previously. Once you use it, it's gone until the top 3 rounds.

Just to make it a bit more official:

You will now only get one save vote for the entire top 10 rounds up until top 3. That's it- 0 Exceptions. So use them wisely. I will be checking for duplicate save votes. Also your two kill votes CANNOT be used for the same show anymore. That is ALL! You also don't get a save unless you have voted before.
VOTE! VOTE! VOTE! GO! GO! GO!

Alright, guess I'll start pushing for DBZ off next.

Kill: DBZ
Kill: Animaniacs

My friend showed me a few videos of Animaniacs a while ago, most of the humor was really witty and mature. The thing is, I would barely understand almost any of those jokes as a kid. Animaniacs had a lot of jokes for adults, which was probably why I barely watched it as a kid. Everytime I saw it, I just didn't get the jokes unless they went full on Looney Tunes. Which is what I enjoyed about it as a kid.

Remember when I told everyone that Rocko's Modern Life dirty joke. Well its time for your Animaniacs dirty joke as well.

Look for fingerprints.

That just makes me not want to kill it yet.

I suggest someone post the new voting rule on every page. Those people who voted should be contacted before the round ends to make sure they got the message.

You ran helluva campaign against Supes, congrats dude.
I didn't PM anyone yesterday either. I think pitting it against DBZ helped immensely. It also drew attention away from shows I liked.

Thanks to Anihawk I'm watching Hey Arnold! now. The memories are flooding back.

EDIT:

Wow. curve ball thrown in, only 1 save for the next 7 rounds?
Does that mean I get to save only 1 show for the next 7 rounds? or that I get to only use 1 save during the next 7 rounds?

does it count that I don't think I used a save for the last 2 rounds?
Why the sudden change? Maybe each save should have only counted a .5 save instead.

I used a similar tactic to get the Weekenders off after seeing it had a fan base. Pictures work.

I'm glad we have no bad shows left, but the new rules seem a little too complex, or maybe I'm just tired.

Glad Superman made top fifteen, despite the usual meessage board cynics.

all the crap leading up to it is why i don't get it. 42 pizzas, 6 no crust. is it a reference to something? is it supposed to be the delivery? the idea that pizza wouldn't come with crust? why do they hold on his face so long?

and 'do you have any requests' just falls flat, but wait! they follow it up with a little song to hang on the joke some more.

i just... i don't get it. it felt like it was a show throwing everything at the wall and trying to see what stuck. it wound up being really hit and miss and annoying for me to watch.

EDIT:

I never even saw that one as a kid so I'm just basing off what I remember liking about the show and that the joke holds up really well.

I don't remember ever watching it. By that point I was watching Nickelodeon exclusively, except for Saturday morning cartoons on ABC and occasionally WB.

It holds up amazingly well and it's a show that appeals to both children and adults.

Only one save for the entire rest of the competition until top 3.
Once you use it up It's gone. So I would suggest collaborating with other people to make your saves make a difference.

You're trying to kill a children's show that made a finger prince joke and that had Ringo ordering way too many pizzas?

I'm glad we have no bad shows left, but the new rules seem a little too complex, or maybe I'm just tired.

It's very simple:

Each round, you've got 2 kills. Each of those kills needs to be on a different show. At any point in the next 7 rounds leading up to the top 3, you can use your 1 and only save. Only people that have voted before in this thread get that 1 save to use. At the end of each round, the top (or bottom, depending on how you look at it) show will be eliminated.

Animaniacs had too many songs for my liking. They weren't even good songs, they just took time from the good stuff, and there wasn't all that much good stuff to begin with.

I'm gonna wait around and see how the voting goes. At the moment I would want to nix Beyond or Rugrats but I'll wait and see for now.

Christ, is Animaniacs getting shat upon now too? This whole thing brings out the worst in all of you.

Come on, we all can't like same things. I was trying to get Animaniacs killed from start of this thread but it obviously has big fan base so it couldn't be done.

I'll just use this template for the OP, OK.

Kill : Rugrats
Kill : Batman Beyond

I can complain about this top ten, but I won't. Well done fellow Gaffers! :)

Edit: Only these two shows could I complain about making the final ten.

It's been a long time coming, but we're finally down to the really tough choices.
How about it?! I might not be able to vote thinking about it...

Just about half of the crap that's left should have been gone weeks ago. Good shows have been voted off by hive mind voting from people who take this shit personally.

I'm just now seeing some of the shows that didn't make the top ten. Courage. Beast Wars. Freakazoid. So many gone before their time.

Watching Hey Arnold!, episodes where things outside of reality really throw me off. What french restaurant would seat two nine-year-olds? That's another thing, from my experience fourth graders don't care about relationships. The show suffers a tad from adults writing from the perspective of kids.
It should be noted that Mr. Freeze's current backstory is based on TAS. That, and TAS gave us Harley Quinn. This show, at the very least, should not be below the top 5.
It won't be and you're right, Harley Quinn is awesome. I'll watch more of the later episodes.

There was one episode of Batman: TAS where Scarecrow is introduced. Of course Batman gets hit with the fear toxin and hallucinates Thomas Wayne berating him for not saving him and his mother. At one point Batman's on a zeppelin hanging off the tip of it about to fall off when he hallucinates his dad again calling him a disgrace. Then the giant hallucination of his father turns into this hallucination of a giant skeletal figure with glowing red eyes. Wayne manages to fight off the toxin's abilities and utters "I am vengeance... I am the night... I am Batman!"

That's pretty fucking hype.

Here is the clip complete with spooky scary skeleton

I had a girlfriend in fourth grade. If we had been inner city youths we probably would have had more date options within walking distance. Things just didn't happen like that in the suburbs.

They definitely have to mature it up a little bit to make it watchable for a wider age range, but I don't think it would hold up as well if they hadn't. It's a romanticized version of what being a fourth grader is like.

Edit: In other ways, it is very much not a romanticized version. Arnold's parents are dead, Helga's parents are horrible, they walk by tramps everywhere they go in the city, etc.

This is what he's talking about btw.

Edit: looks like you edited your post. Great scene. I would go as far to say that this one line, though short, is the perfect description of who Batman is and what sets him apart from a regular superhero.

there's a bit of writing kids as adults in this show, but the valentine's day episode is pretty tame. considering phil (the grandpa) knows where arnold is, i assumed he made the reservations for him.

phil has arnold's back through so much of the series, i just kinda assume he's always there for him.

as far as fourth graders caring about relationships... it happens. i remember voting for 'class couple' in a 4/5 combo class back in the mid-90s. plus, arnold and helga are both pretty mature for their ages.

it's not a 90s ep, but maybe watch parents day. it's a real hit-or-miss episode for me, but i think tress macneille (grandma), dan castellaneta (grandpa), and jim lang (the composer) win out for me in the end.

I don't remember anyone dating when I was in 4th grade and I know that sort of thing at least doesn't happen in the area I'm from. Romanticized is an appt description.
