I miss WW2 shooters.

The first FPS I really got into was

Weirdly enough.

WaW was solid but I got so wierded out by how exactly like CoD4 it felt. Down to some of the missions even, like the AC130u mission replaced by the Flying Fortress mission. Inclusion of dogs even. But I'm salivating over what a modern WW2 shooter pushing the envelope on PCs could be like. I'd prefer it to focus more on realism than CoD, but I'll take what I can get.

Yeah, I feel like it was done on purpose to try and live up to what COD4 had done.

But the Black Cats mission was intense.

And that score! Music was great for this game. They even used the woman's wail up to BOII.

The dogs were the best. I used to get baked and fucking flip out when I heard dogs barking on surround sound. Shit was scary.

CoD games are the poster children for that frustrating trope of Dogs being way more deadly than humans are. Because dog teeth are just too much for a man who can shrug off rifle rounds like he's the wolverine.

The only game you could call down an artillery strike with dogs while running through it all picking people off.

And feel like a god doing it. 15 Kill Steak!

Dogs were horrible if you were on the opposing end. I remember trying to find a ladder or some high ground so bad.

I used to only play Wolfenstein Enemy Territory. My first big computer game I bought (myself) and played was Call of Duty: United Offensive, combo-packed with the original. I have a friend who up until sometime last year was still playing United Offensive regularly. Insane to think about.

I miss Rollercoaster Tycoon. I was so excited by the big changes for 3, got it and barely played it. It just wasn't the same.

edit: I know I could play the original, I still have it. I'd like a new updated version of that isometric style though.

I haven't played a COD game since COD3. :( A part of me is saying that I should catch up sometime, but another part of me says I should just play other games...

At least give COD4 and WAW a go.

Or just play the single player for them. That's the only reason I buy them (unless it's Treyarch, then it's for zombies, too)!

Starting from COD4 and WAW, they spin off in their own trilogies, so if you do either one first, just continue to their respective sequel.

I am not a shooter fan, but I'd love to see a WWI shooter done right.

A war notorious for trench warfare may not be the best pick. You'd have to cherry pick parts of the conflict to get something interesting enough to play, and you'd wind up with a really non-representative experience of the war as a whole.

It feels like it would be a better set up for Assassin's Creed or something.

EDIT: Plus, BOII had amazing WWI DLC anyways. :P

Yeah, if you wanted to do it in a traditional sense.
But doing it as a representation of how people were mowed down and stuff (think musuo but where you're the the bad guys not the superman) you could do it and give an interesting experience.

You know what games became total fucking nonsense? Kingdom Hearts. What a bunch of shit they turned into.
Eh. The original wasn't that much better. If you just appreciate the gameplay, music and characters the series is fantastic. Seeing Disney and Final Fantasy characters together is great.

They better add more characters. Also age Seifer and get rid of his midriff.

You'd have to convince me. I just feel like it makes for a good book or novel but not good gameplay. At least not without ignoring most of the stuff you're trying to make a point with and jumping to some other theater where the trenches never happened in the same way.

Day of Deafeat.

You talkin smack about me son?

I've decided I don't like the Arrow thread anymore. It was already weird with all the fanfics/shipping stuff...but the Katie hate is getting a bit out of hand.

More characters????? There are so many already. And I do appreciate that stuff which is why I still play them. Still it has crawled up its' own ass in a really terrible way. It's not like MGS that continually crawled up its' own ass in a great way,

As long as you avoided northern France and Belgium post 1915 you would be fine, heaps of other stuff to use for a game in WWI. The African and Balkans theatres in particular would be very good for game design. The Italians did some crazy shit in the Balkans. The war against the Ottomans would provide great variety as well. The difficulty would be marketing since everyone would expect trenches.

Yeah the Katie hate was sick. Not only that but it completely derailed the thread. Thankfully Cornballer put an end to it.

I meant more Final Fantasy characters. It's the biggest reason I played the series.

MGS4 was bad, tho. Not even in a great way. 1-3 are great.

MGS started doing the crawling into its own ass thing way before 4. That was just the climax and it was glorious outside of the very, very end.

Gimme a WWI shooter with Vimy and Passchendaele.

I guess you could throw Somme in there, too.

I just wanna see Canada more represented. :(

I wouldn't call hours of boring cutscenes, questionable character moments, horrible ending and forced romances glorious.

Trust me, I wanted to love the game so much. The only part I legitimately found good was the heater.

Morning.

First real snow of this winter and looks like I managed to get another throat infection, so todays concert hangs in air...

Yeah good move by him!

Still..that thread is odd. It's like 10% talking about the series itself and 90% about shipping. Sometimes I long for my pre-gaf days..when I thought shipping meant sending a package.

OMG community tho

So good.

The latest one? Haven't seen it yet, but I loved the Ass Crack bandit one.

Disagree wholeheartedly. Best playing MGS and Kojima at his most incoherent and nonsensical. Loved it.

Don't get me started on MGS4 pls.

That game changed me mang.

Yeah it's annoying. I don't mind a little shipping but the thread has such little romance it's weird it's such a huge focus.

Yeah the new one. Britta is the best.

I'm sorry. I'll pray 4 u to get past it.

hated or loved it

I thought Red Orchestra 2 was pretty darn good.

So good.
Thanks for reminding me. Is the community OT as batshit insane as it was back in the heyday of season 2/3?

I think so, but I don't think we are that weird.

I mean.. uh well. Maybe we are.

Edit: wait Community is good again? The previous season was disappointing

Yup another great ep of Community! I'm glad it's back to its old glory :D

Yup, the old writer is back for this season.

Which means it's absolutely great. Sad Donald Glover is gone now though :(

Oh well. I'm still looking forward immensely to the new D&D episode. LOVED the previous one lol.
