EverQuest Next Landmark News and Info Thread | Build in Queue

- A new video showing of the table saw in action: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UqkdPFDO2e8

- A few questions answered at: https://www.eqnlandmark.com/news/fa...eqnrp-eqn-russia-mmoscope-january-23-2014-eql

EQN-RP: Can two or more cooperative players connect two or more plots via caves, or underground tunnels?

Dev Team: This would depend where their claims are relative to each other, and what permissions they set, but in theory yes if their plots are adjacent.

EQN-RP: Will we be able to add environmental effects to our creations? Like fog, mist, haunting sound effects like creaking boards and ghostly moans?

Dev Team: We should have a limited number of effects as early as Alpha, including items that emit smoke, and small plants that include particle effects like flocks of butterflies. The beauty of Landmark being an MMO is the constant development after launch. Eventually, you’ll be able to do everything that we can do.

What's going to happen when everyone starts building big veiny dicks? I'm not even going to lie when I first get in, that's the first thing I'm going to do besides make a house.

There will be ways to report claims in game. You will be banned/suspended.

So yeah I'm excited for building Minecraft style in an EverQuest setting, but I really want to know how storybricks works in EQN proper. I want a whole blog/video showing of that.

That feel when you're over the recommended system requirements.

I assume this carries over to EQN proper as well! Being on the same engine.

For those that care, we'll be able to hear Soule's music in the Landmark Alpha...

I just meet those Recommended requirements. I'm not going to be in the Alpha though. I'd buy one of the packages for the EQN Alpha but not for Landmark. I can wait for Open Beta or Release for that.

But am I the only one that finds 8gb RAM on the Recommended incredibly high?

Those requirements will go down in time. This is for an engine that is not optimized in alpha state. They already said launch client will support 32bit for example, but they haven't optimized it, hence the need for crazy specs.

If this alpha was confirmed for PS4 (I'm not even sure if Landmark is confirmed for PS4 at all) then I would get one of the founder's packs, but as it is my PC is not capable of playing this. :/

The fact that we meet the unoptimized recommendations is a good sign.

I wish the launch minimum requirements were 4gb and 64 bit OS. =p

Time to move on folks, 32-bit sucks.

People also need to remember that EQN/EQNL are procedurally generated, while still looking pretty damn good.

You're both right, of course. Still it freaks me out a bit. I just can't get the thought of memory leaks and crashes out of my head. Wouldn't want to put my rig through that. ;/

Sweet. Well clear of those recommended specs. Now, give us a date already!

Anyone interested in a closed beta key at $10? I could pick up a trailblazer pack and give out the closed beta keys for $10 (I was planning on doing an explorer).

Those shareable keys don't say what part of closed beta they will be for. Could be the final phase or maybe just a weekend event or something.

They're time-limited closed beta keys. As per the FAQ:

A Time-Limited Closed Beta Key works like this. When you redeem your code at EverQuestNext.com, you will get access to the Landmark Beta for seven days. Time-Limited Beta Keys are stackable – so you can redeem multiple to gain additional game time.

I was considering something similar, since it would let me give keys to a few friends, but then saw that. Now I'm just going to go with the $20 buy in.

I said I would never pay that much to get into the alpha for this...but boom...payment processed.

The game just looks too good to pass up.

Is the buy-in Landmark alpha launching prior to 28th Feb only for the world building stuff? There is no actual MMO gameplay involved (yet)?

Building, crafting, and exploring. The game is in Alpha, so don't expect anywhere near a finished product.

Smedley just tweeted that today is a big day with lots of announcements. Alpha start date incoming?

He's also doing an AMA at 3pm (I assume PST)

Wait, will it literally not run on Windows Vista? (Save the comments please.) Or are those just their recommended minimum specs?

The minimum specs state Windows 7, but I think Vista will work as long as it's 64-bit.

Smed during the AMAA, there will only be "hours" between the announcement of Alpha and us getting in.

daverthebraver - "How much of a warning will we have before Landmark Alpha starts?"
Smed - "hours."

I'm hoping we get it this weekend. If not, maybe next Friday (1/31)? He keeps smiling in response to any question asking if the Alpha will come soon or not.
